NOTICE GLOBAL

I use it for several months and this is my first condenser microphone, so I could not compare to other models but I chose it for its price / quality ratio seems pretty unbeatable.

At first, I was impressed by the sound quality! And over the months, I began to identify its shortcomings and limitations. I use it mainly for vocals and guitar, but I've also used a cello and quality is at the rendezvous. A microphone that I consider so versatile, although I find it more suitable for the guitar as voice. For voice, he is sorely lacking in treble. Senior mediums are too present and there is a bump in the bass. The result for the voices of girls, it's not bad, for male voices, it makes a sound a little flat, tinny, not enough now. Overall, if you put the voices recorded with this mic in a fairly rich mix, with lots of instruments, voices are found all behind and it's pretty annoying. It will then go through the equalizeurs and other filters to give a presence to the vote. After a few hours, the result becomes very correct! But if you do not go there, it could be quite ugly. In conclusion, allow a few hours to rework the sound. Tip: do not register too close to the microphone! The sound seems much less stifled if you stand a good eight inches from the microphone. However, on an acoustic guitar, the sound is very faithful and usable almost unchanged!

I think I would do without hesitation that choice to start in the record because its price is accessible to all, and with a little work ahead, the result is excellent! However, with experience, I would turn me toward the highest quality, with necessarily more financial investment.

Goodies:
- An amazing quality for the price. Micro entry that can grow at extremely good levels with some adjustments to the mix.
- Excellent on guitars!
- Insensitive to noise: only the password helpful (except for plosives).

Cons:
- Not enough treble, a bump in the bass, mids too high ... so many defects to be corrected in the mix.
- Cable supplied and ridiculous protective pouch. But for the price, it is not too demanding

I bought it for the sound in "home studio", whether singing or acoustic guitar.

OVERALL OPINION

My first micro. I bought it for the price / response relationship.
Use for "small" concerts in friends, rehearsal alone in my room, trying to see enregristrer me "home studio"

Solid construction (body and thick brass gate as it should).

Regret: too easily transplanted amplifier (feedback) and a tendency to "cut" then it works. Once disconnected and reconnected, it starts again. But to save a headphones on, no worries.

I broke so I look for another!

OVERALL OPINION

I used it on a lot of records rap! great, no sibillances, no noise, hot ...
I compared with a akg perception 220, a rode nt1 a serious and I prefer bcp!
I currently use a t bone sct 2000 mullard lamp! not bad, but I'm remixing old recordings made with the m audio ... well it is easier to mix and do not need tons of settings!

Well, we is not in the high end but in a quality / price ratio.
The sound is very bright, due to a bump in the upper medium. For singing, a low-pass is required because the bass is messy.

This mic sounds still not so bad as long as use a good preamp: it is illusion, for example with LA610 or a Focusrite Liquid Channel (but the Focusrite would sound anything ...). Always a Joemeek One-Q. on the other hand, do not expect her to hell with Beringe.

OVERALL OPINION

I've never seen covers also shitty in plastoc kind of very low quality. But we bought the set for the microphone, not the cover. Therefore provide for other cases or boxes.

This mic is not "to do" with low dribbling, do not bother trying to catch bass or bass drum. For vocals or guitars, microphone behaves quite long to use a preamp a bit serious.

However, the price / quality ratio is unbeatable, much better than conventional dynamics. And for someone who does not have a big budget, who wishes to have a little fun, and although it's not so bad.

I only use this mic for recording vocals.

I recorded with Nuendo via a soundcard Presonus AudioBox 44 VSL. I sometimes go through a pre-amp Presonus Eureka.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for over 2 years use in my home studio and I am fully satisfied. Note that I am an amateur and I am just pre-prods. According to the studio where I am going to finish my album, the voice recordings can be used as is and it will not be necessary to repeat.
This is my first microphone of this type, but I had the secondhand compare with other products present with friends and I must say that the price / quality ratio is unbeatable.
What I particularly like is the sensitivity of the microphone. Shades of singing are well captured.
He readily agrees to high volume levels without flinching.
As described in other reviews, it actually produces a bump in the 100, but for my part, as I equalize my voice it's not a problem for me.
I acquired to improve uptake suspension and anti pop filter. The microphone is heavy which gives it some stability.
To date I have had no problems with the microphone. Reliability is the appointment and yet I use it very often.
I would do this choice without problems.

I was using the Nova by M audio back in 09 and have been having my eye on it from about 2007. I just didn’t want to crack down and spend the money to actually get it but after I finally broke down and spent the money I was glad that I decided to spend it. It is a large diaphragm condenser mic that we where using in the studio. I actually tried using it at home and really didn’t like the way that it was sounding at the time because my home set up back in 2009 wasn’t equipped for it and I had no room treatments. If I had this mic at home now it would probably sound so much better because I have a dedicated recording room in my basement with padding on the walls to really help with the sound and provide overall better quality. So back in 2009 I decided to take this mic to the larger studio across town and just use it there. When used in a real acoustic environment the M Audio Nova really will give you a great quality recording and it will shine its best in that situation. I have also heard people say that they have used this mic in live settings which I don’t recommend because it’s a much better studio mic than it is anything else.


OVERALL OPINION

After using it for a year in the main studio, we decided to start using a different set up so this mic kind of got pushed to the side. Though we do still have it and probably will keep it for a back up mic. But the price of this mic is really appealing and if you find one used I can only imagin how cheap the price will be so it will be worth the price now. Also, I am not too sure if they are actually still making and manufacturing this mic so you may have to purchase it used. But either way its worth it.

The M Audio Nova is a modern version of the Rode classic NT1. This mic is very cheap to buy, but honestly it sounds way better than it should for this price. Value is definitely the defining characteristic on this mic. It's a large diaphragm condenser, so you will need to hook it up with phantom power. The pickup pattern is cardioid, with a medium or average sized width to the pickup pocket. Unfortunately the pattern isn't switchable, so you won't be able to use these as omni room mics or figure 8's. There also is no bass roll off switch, so make sure you enable that on your preamp or make a high pass filter in your DAW later on. There is also no pad switch, but one of the great things about this mic is its insanely high SPL tolerance for such a cheap mic. You could blast a huge Marshall stack into this and it wouldn't distort. That basically gets rid of the need for a pad switch. It has a pretty thick mesh built-in pop guard around the capsule, but you will likely still need another pop filter in front of this to avoid plosive problems.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, this mic sounds very good. At this price point I am very hard pressed to think of a better mic for recording vocals. It sounds very detailed and smooth, and most other mics for this price tend to get very harsh on sources with a decent amount of high frequency content like the human singing voice. It's no Neumann or anything, but it is definitely a quality mic and a superb investment for the recording beginner looking to upgrade their main vocal mic. It's a fantastic value and I would recommend it for beginners as a main large diaphragm mic, or to pros as a good choice to have available for the right source.

OVERALL OPINION

Same view that the next except that I use on a MBox.
This mic is very well and I also have used APRS be pass by a dynamic low-end (Behringer XM8500) is the day and night.
I IT CAN BE USED for the voice (singing not speak) and trs going well.
A good micro gnraliste, at least for those like me who recorded in their apartment (I do not know what he gives in real terms compared other studio microphone).

OVERALL OPINION

I use the microwave for 3-4 months and I must say that finding such a report today qualitprix trs is rare! First, the microphone is really the geule for entry level and it apprciable trs.

At plugs its nothing wrong either ... For about 100 euros a microphone, allows the Nova pro quality recordings. Of course there is that this rponse frquentielle s'arrte 18KHz, but for voice recordings, really no problem. And the sensitivity of the microphone is also, quite acceptable.
Well, for now I have made recordings in my apartment quite loud so I can not really realize the noise Ramna the microphone but the APRS CHARACTERISTICS m-audio it is acceptable.

Frankly, if you want a good condenser microphone a reasonable price, you Precipitation Occurred on Nova! It lacks an elastic suspension but good for the price, you can not expect too much either!

OVERALL OPINION

So this is my first studio microphone, so unfortunately I can not compare to others, and the advantage of my opinion is somewhat limited.

I find this sensitive and micro trs trs Fidler. Nothing to do with a dynamic, even at the same price (before I had a seinheiser). It allows me to catch his crdibles, for the first time they told me "I did not see any diffrence between your song and recording pro".
Well, do not be fooled all the same, it lacks the warmth and the natural sweetness of a 1000 micro. But a. ..
