Novation Remote ZeRO SL MkII

Novation ZeRO SL is one of the greatest midi controller that can be used either live or in recordings.
What I like most about this product is the great display provided that is very easy to use and giving all the necessary information to the person that is using it.
It has a 144 character display , this product has a very well made design and a great quality concerning the features provided and the feedback.
Probably one of the biggest advantages of this product is its great display that assists the user on the features that are used , the exact motions that are used , etc .
Brightly lit LED has eight smooth encoders , 16 knobs, 8 faders and 32 assignable backlit LED buttons and an auto map function that is very useful.

It also has a touch-sensitive rotary encoder which allows a great control in ream time over the hardware for composers and performers.

I also love the soft touch velocity sensitive drum pads that allow building different patterns , 32 bright user LED buttons that can be assigned to different tasks , the fact that this product is multi Daw compatible is also a great feature of it.

However , the best Daw in terms of compatibility with this product is Ableton Live , so keep that in mind if you're an user of Ableton and you're thinking about buying this product.

My opinion about the value for the price is good , this product costs at range of 300 $ , it's not much , buy this controller can make a huge difference in your creation process.

Precision and quality of sounds I would rate 9/10 , everything works good.

Knowing what I know, I would buy this product again , I love the way it's designed , and I love its features.

The Novation Remote Zero SL MKII has 8 pads that can be used to trigger, 8 faders and a total of 32 buttons. If you want to use this controller with a PC you will need to have 256 MB RAM, make sure you check your specs because I had some issues setting this up with a few different studio computers running Vista. All of the 8 sliders have touch sensitivity and the 32 buttons all light up LED. You can use the USB to power the SL MKII or it does come with a power supply to plug it directly into the wall. There are no audio inputs or outputs on this device but there are MIDI in and outs. The reason I purchased this back in 2010 was to find ways to speed up my work flow without having to go back and forth to that dreaded mouse!

Setting this up is very fast. It takes literally no time at all to get it running. You can control your whole DAW with the MKII from Novation n no time. I prefer using the SL MKII in Reason because I feel like it has better auto mapping with Reason.

The Novation Remote Zero does have 8 drum or trigger pads on it but they are not well made and are not anything like some of the trigger or drum pads on some of AKAI’s interfaces and control surfaces. I never really used them as drum pads because I felt like they messed up my whole vibe by not having a good feel while playing.

You can purchase the Novation Remote Zero SL MKII for 299.00. That price is kind of out of the range that it should be, I don’t think it should be any more than about 225.00. There are other units that are similar and have similar specs to the MKII but are a little cheaper. Check out some of M-Audio’s control surfaces if you want the same kind of controller but a cheaper price.

I use it for 2 months.

I tested a UC33 before this one and I do not regret it at all!

One regret: no back light with Ableton Live.

Very good price / quality ratio, I do it again this choice without asking questions!



Incredible product! What joy to be able to fully control the sequencer with this jewel!
The eight faders are touch sensitive allowing you to see what setting control without moving the setting. Similarly, two sets of knobs are sensitive to the touch.

With Live, just click on a PlugIn to see all the settings appear above the knobs. The faders control volume, pan and sends the return tracks. Simply put: it is super intuitive and really fast to take in hand (not even two hours).

It only lacks the motorized faders and it's perfect but it can really can hardly do better ...

- How long have you use it?

For a short week and only now that I have all my templates STRP to control Live and my plugs.
- What is the particular feature you like best and least?
What I like is the quality of manufacture, the LEDs around which returns the position of rglages. I had a remote Sl 37 mk1 and I see that the encoders are much more enjoyable (and more flexible prcis), the zero-faders bcp are longer and nicer to touch. What is also notable is the version of Automap 3.0 comes with is very nice and allows for quick and easy configuration of all your plugs and mix.
One cool thing is the cot sensitive faders and knobs that allow all a quick visual on the LCD screen or GUI, for the non-sensory CONTRL, a preview button can be replaced Dier.

I do not like is the basic template for Ableton Live, it is unusable and it would do well to move the butt in novation To create something to adapt to MODEL mk2, since If this template is allowed to act, it disables the automap (no longer LED display does not work) and nothing is assignable as desired, in short is no compltement when we know very s what he can do ... (example APC40)
But hey, you press "Automap" and then "USER" and it made his Ableton templates a la mano.

APC40 and remote SL37, UC33. I wanted a little more return in real time what is going on my DAW, the APC40 quite silent, but I do not bump mode dplacement session and on plugs and effects is tedious and long, can never be a time limit CONTRL a filter at the same time on another track.

The price quality ratio is very well, we see immediately the good quality of the object that ds puts on his desk, the crossfader has a little play but nothing mchant and works well.

Yes, if somewhat Novation bump on his Ableton template, it's good for only 10 I will not.

A nice thing also that even the acclrerait edition of its templates, it would be to have a small indicator in the list indicating that a CC is Droulez dja used in the GUI .
