Vox AD120VT

I've been playing for good while now and needed an amp to do justice to my Maverick F1 guitar for gig playing, obviously a 15w practice amp wouldnt do it. I had intended to buy something by Line 6 because the ideal of modelling amps appeals to me just because of the sheer flexibility of the things. I found this was in the same price range and when I played it I nearly had a siezure. I paid £850 for it and got the foot pedal for free.

Pretty much everything. Unlike most modelling amps it has a built in valve pre amp which gives it a much higher 'punch' to its sound and stops it sounding like a bad midi file (a problem I noticed on the line 6 models sometimes). The 32 pre set channels are great and the fact you can have your clean set up geared completely differantly to your distorted channel is a huge advantage and allows for much more scope when playing.
Another thing that this amp has over other modeling amps I seen is that its effects loop (21 effects in all) is split into four seperate channels, which allows you to use up to four on board effects at once on top of your amp model selection.

The foot switcher is a little awkward to use at first and required alot of pre planning sometimes. It is still flexible but it could benefit from being about twice the size and having about 3 times the amount of buttons on it rather than having inidivual buttons doubling up on functions and having to change 'modes' etc. I would rather concentrate on my playing and have to worry less about how Im programming the unit from my feet. it also cant switch between all 8 banks only banks 1-4 or banks 1.-4. (equivalent of 5 - 8) which can limit it.

It's sturdy and well balanced, if heavy. The foot changer (despite being awkward as already mentioned) is pretty damn tough and as obviously been designed with the idea that people are going to be stomping on it in mind. Design wise its not very showy but it doesnt have to be with this kind of sound!.

If your intending on looking at modelling amps definatly give this a go, you might be sceptical at first but it really does blow all the other modelling amps Ive played in a similiar (and sometimes higher) price range away completly.

- This amp models 16 different kinds of amp. From super clean to super nag. It models also 10 kinds of pedals (octave, fuzz, wah, etc ...) and seven types of effects (chorus, tremolo, flanger, delay, reverb, etc ...) There is a memory 2x 4x4 sounds ( So all the 32 possible memory). Each of which is configurable on each memory (bass, MIDD, presence, gain, etc ...) which gives great possibilities of its huge.

UTILIZATION

The adjustment effects is very simple. as large buttons to turn or press. no menu or I do not know what the other stuff. It is very easy to optenir sound is sought quickly (to the limits of the quality of course) I'll be back on its lowest. With this amp I've never used the manual so I can not even say whether or not it is clear.

SOUNDS

This is an amp very very very very versatile. It is possible to have any type of sound from blues, jazz, etc ... the big heavy metal. The major drawback of this amp (which I was embarrassed and that's why I wanted to change the amp) is the quality of some sound. Indeed for a good clean sound you have to fight ... Personally I do not happen to have a clear sound that does not crunch. This bothers me a lot because I know perfectly well what I want her and so it's Cleaire disappointed me. Side distortion and modeling, I could not really compare with the real amp (mesa correct, Vox AC30, etc ...) but if the models are very well done I fear that the MESA are really not well at all. At least for the big sound I've ever used modeling correct. Too rough for my taste and a presence that is lacking. As against the effects are of very good quality. Very easy to configure. Very nice.

OVERALL OPINION

I used this amp about 5 months. At first I was really happy. Then more time passed the more I thought the sound lacked some work. The amp models have really changed much lately, but it still lacks sth .... (This is sth lamps)
Obviously the price is really cheap! with all the possibilities that are available ...
Before this amp I had was a fender 60w transistor. I am very sorry for her its clear that we can not have with this amp. If the choice had to be rebuilt, I think I would buy something else. I think all of lamp. Besides, I sold it to buy a Mesa Rectifier head

Have felt the heat lamp, c a really big bomb this amp, plus have little control power from 60 to 1 w

UTILIZATION

Using rather simple despite some finger gymnastics:

Make your rglages like your config was a true classic config is to say:
pedals -> amp -> effects (modulation, delay, reverb) -> master.

SOUNDS

Suitable for all musical styles: reggae, blues rock, mtal, funky jazz.
The AC15 and AC30 simus of the vox are really good (by chance!).
Simus of the Marschall trs trs are good for me and sound practitioner.
The simulation fender bassman and black twin jokes are trs. The simulation Mesa Boogie is really mean, because you do not feel low and stifling Submitted too acute.
For effects there everything you need without having a range of supereffets not used.
Nothing wrong for their quality, it sounds good but it's also not the top.
I put 8 because it makes me a bit *** ch to modlisation more for an amp.

OVERALL OPINION

Voila 10 months I have and I'm delighted. I wanted a versatile amp twin, it is less expensive than conventional lamps amp, but its advantage is that it can do everything without the hassle of pedals etc ^ 1000.
What j'apprcie first is that raw sounds good, it feels to play on a real amp with a crude well, although I would say vintage, short practitioner.
on the other hand, fan effects of all kinds, I think the line 6 are better teams.

The selection of power (and 2x60 2x30 2x15 2x2 W) is a plus, it helps to play flat, low-volume RPET or live with a good quality.
Quality price ratio good enough for a good versatile amp.
Coupled with his 12 pdalier VC is the happiness in complete simplicity!
And then look at it I really like.
A little more than a line 6 Flextone 3, but it's worth it to extend a little money.
I highly recommend it.
