[NAMM] Yamaha unveils the Reface series

With this new Reface series, Yamaha revisits four legendary keyboards in compact formats, all equipped with mini-HQ keys covering three octaves, 2W speakers and powered with batteries or adapter, which allows for taking them anywhere you’re going. The four keyboards also sport iOS-compatible To Host USB port, mini-DIN MIDI I/IO with included adapter, two 1/4” line outputs, one 1/8” line aux input and an input for progressive forte pedal with support for half pedaling.

The Reface synths are completed with Capture app for iOS and Soundmondo for Google Chrome to share sounds.

Details of the four Reface synths:

Reface CP: reproduces 6 types of digital pianos:

• • Rdl: electric piano from the early 70s with US Combo Amp and Auto Pan
  • Rdll : electric piano from the late 70s with British Combo Amp and Auto Pan
  • Wr: late 60s Wurlitzer with US Combo Amp and Tremolo
  • Clv : 70s Clavinet with US Combo Amp and Tremolo
  • Toy : a toy piano with amp simulator and Tremolo
  • CP : Yamaha CP80 electric grand piano with British Combo Amp and Auto Pan
• 5 adjustable effects: Tremolo/Auto-Pan, VCM Wah Drive, Chorus, VCM Phaser Reverb and Digital/Analog Delay
• 128 voices of polyphony

Reface CS: Analog physical modeling synth with multiple synthesis and oscillators: 

• • MultiSaw with adjustable sub-osc and waveforme layering
  • Pulse with control of the 2nd square waveform pitch and pulse width
  • Osc sync with OSC 2 pitch and sound control
  • Ring modulation with OSC pitch control
  • Frequency modulation with modulation intensity and pitch control
• Built-in effects: Delay, VCM Phaser, VCM Chorus/Flanger and Distortion
• Built-in phrase looper
• 8-voice polyphony and Mono mode with Portamento

Reface DX: 4-operator FM synth with continuously adjustable feedback for each operator

• 2 programable effect sections with VCM Wah, VCM Flanger, VCM Phaser, Chorus, Delay, Reverb and Distortion
• Multi-touch control interface with direct access to 4 simultaneous parameters
• 32 memory slots for favorite sound store and recall
• Built-in phrase looper
