Caline CP-18 Orange Burst

A classic overdrive, Chinese clone of BB preamp.

UTILIZATION

It has 4 settings can: gain / volume / bass / treble.
The knobs are very reactive, the differences we hear very well when moving.

SOUND QUALITY

Here we have a very transparent overdrive, taking care that the character of the amp and guitar.

Special to the equalizer that is super efficient, much more than my amp mention!
You can really sculpt the sound, which can be very useful for example to transfer low group, or conversely, to add a little less slamming her when played in single coils.

The gain range is wide enough, it can go relatively far (farther than I expected anyway)

It can be used as a clean boost by turning down the gain and raising the volume, which offers a significant boost. I personally have a soul food which already plays that role on my pedal board, so I rather use it as overdrive.

The sound quality is really amazing for a pedal of this price! It's really good, better than the pedals 3-5 times more expensive!

OVERALL OPINION

I've had two weeks to see if it will work over time, but for thirty euros, I'm sooooo far from regretting my choice.

To summarize, I would say:

Positives:
- Price, simply amazing for a pedal of this quality
- Sound! It's really a very good effect, versatile with:
- Very effective EQ really allows to adapt the overdrive sound setup (I think including fender amps that can be super slap in the treble, which may temper the blow by lowering the treble on the pedal)

Negatives:
- LED is really extremely brilliant flash it really strong.
- A small delay before receiving it, it takes a good two weeks
- Potentiometers little resistance, not a big deal you might say, but personally I prefer to fine tune
- The pedal is ugly, but hey it's not like the BB preamp was pretty either!
- The ethics that is still way, since buying a copy of an American pedal produced in China at a lower cost by workers paid a pittance and that we are far from knowing the working conditions ...

Overall this is a very good deal for the price at which it is proposed. However do not forget to praise the work of the people who design and develop these pedals by buying the original!

Knob: Volume, Gain, Treble (acute) and bass.

Super simple, normal size.

Like all pedals of this type, the switch is probably a bit fragile.

SOUND QUALITY

Level is great!

The gain can go very far (can be used independent overdrive solo rock), and the sound palette is super wide through two bass and treble knobs.

I tend to decrease acute and go a little low. I get a very warm sound with good headroom (as shown in this video: )

It has more gain than the Xotic BB Preamp (it would be his clone), however, for the Xotic BB Preamp tested (which did not satisfy me considering the price), this has not Caline grain BB Preamp. It has its tonal color, she approaches the concept of the BB Preamp, but did not his grain.

The grain of the Xotic is really beautiful, and she has not the same. Its grain is "low cost". But hey, given the price difference, I bought the Caline so good .

OVERALL OPINION

This is a very good product, unbeatable quality / price ratio.

It should go easy on the switch and I think again, I'm only speculating, maybe they are sturdy.

Nevertheless it's a great pedal. If I need a good versatile overdrive, transparent enough (because it is) and enough guts, I shall without hesitation.

SOUND QUALITY

It should do exactly what it is supposed to do ... an overdrive or boost.
I play with a musicman petrucci and 77 custom locket love on a preamp AMT SS20, it works with everything.
To get a great crunch or to boost a distortion is perfect.

OVERALL OPINION

It's great. I had a BB preamp and I was sold, I found exactly the same sound with this one. SO THIS IS PERFECT! I note on price and its use. As much as I find the BB preamp too expensive, so at this price it is essential in a guitar rig.

For those who do not know, it's like a tube screamer but transparent.

It can be used as a drive to boost amp overdrive or as a clear channel. In which case everyone will think you use the channel saturating your amp.
Personally I used the one with great field and a strat. I do not support the Tubescreamer (j have already had two), which to my taste its colors and lack of potato whatever configuration knob.

I used to play the pink Floyd of Santana Hendrix. But I also use the fine to play jazz or funk.

OVERALL OPINION

I used the last 6 or 7 months. I really wanted the BB preamp, and I am absolutely not déçu.C is a true copy of the BB so it is transparant, true bypass. And it is really cheap compared to the "big brand".
See if like BB preamp go ahead
