[NAMM] Meet Ogre, new Korean manufacturer

Summer NAMM visitors could discover this year the young Ogre Korean manufacturer of effect pedals and instruments.

Ogre is invading the world with instruments and effect pedals that are innovative both for their design and materials.

The Korean manufacturer offers indeed the Magnox M1, an electric guitar with sculpted magnesium body and headstock, a 25.5” scale length, a C-shape magnesium neck and a 14” fingerboard radius. It is equipped with Sperzel locking tuners with custom buttons, and you can choose between Seymour Duncan TB-4/SH-1 humbuckers or an SSH setup with one TB-4 humbucker and two SS-1 middle and neck single coil pickups. Ogre also gives you the choice between wraparound, Wilkinson VS100N and Tune-O-Matic bridge.

Here’s a demo of the Magnox M1:

Ogre is currently working on a travel guitar, the Transwing, a headless guitar with removable wings equipped with SH-4 bridge and SH-1 neck pickups. The weight of the guitar is 2.7 kg or 2.2 kg without wings. Here are pictures of the prototype:

Another upcoming instrument is the Magnelli 4-string bass based on the same design, that you can discover in this video:

Ogre also designs original effect pedals that need to be opened (except for one model) to discover their controls. Don’t worry, you won’t need a screwdriver, the face/head features a sliding-type cover system.

Three pedals are currently available: the Tubeholic Overdrive, Thunderclap Distortion which horns serve as knobs, and the Kronomaster Delay, which is based on a PT2399 chip. Ogre will soon add to them the Fuzz Lion as well as a Pro Series, with pedal that look like monolithic blocks engraved with inscriptions that could remind the Rosetta Stone. Are already announced in this Pro Series the Full Tilt Boost, MOSTERT Drive, Tremoloid, SQUASH Comp, SQUASH Comp Bass, Fuzz Buster RT, Flexroom Reverb, Tubeholic Overdrive II, Tubeholic Bass Overdrive, Kronomaster Delay II and Cosmica Phaser.

You can discover Ogre at ogre.kr and follow their work at ogrezone.wordpress.com.
