Nomad Factory Liquid Mod IIPublished on 11/22/10 at 13:27
The Nomad Factory Liquid Mod II is a dual chorus and flanger effect plug-in in one. It's part of Nomad Factory's Liquid Bundle, which consists of six plug-ins of various types all together. This isn't a bundle that I personally own, but the professional recording studio that I work at has it along with pretty much all of the Nomad Factory plug-ins. Learning to use the Liquid Mod II plug-in is a pretty easy process, as I found that it was easy enough to figure out without any help from a manual. There are two modes on here - one for chorus and one for flanger. The parameters that it has to work with include those for rate and depth, delay times, and waveform, as well as further parameters for stereo width, overdrive, feedback, and overall output level. It also gives you either an analog or digital setting and control over the overall mix level. That's pretty much a breakdown of all the controls you'll need to know about here.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Although we don't normally have any issues running any plug-ins on our systems at the studio where I work, the Nomad Factory Liquid Mod II takes up an especially low amount of processing power anyway. The main system that we've got is Pro Tools HD based that runs on a Mac Pro desk top computer with dual 2.66 Ghz Intel Xeon processors and 10 GB of RAM. This is more than enough to run multiple instances of this plug-in if I wanted to, but I haven't had a chance to run more than one or two at a time anyway...

OVERALL OPINION

While it's not the most unique effects plug-in out there, Nomad Factory Liquid Mod II is still a very solid chorus/flanger plug-in that's definitely worth having in any DAW's plug-in suite. The bundle as a whole is one worth having as even though the plug-ins aren't the warmest or cleanest sounding, they're versatile and bring a lot to the table at a very inexpensive price. The Liquid Mod II plug-in in particular is a nice one to have around as it can give you some really quick and easy flanging and chorus sounds that are always good to have around. If you're at all interested in this plug-in, it's worth it to check out the full bundle as it's the perfect way to get some quality plug-ins at a cheap price...
