easy to use, I almost never used the manual
edition of its effect and easy and complete well

SONORITS

almost transparent sound converter but gives a small grain not dplaisant,
the effect is more than effective 3 filter are good
the dynamic is big

NOTICE GLOBAL

I use it for almost 1 year before I tried SEVERAL mcf (500,1000,2000xl)
and PLUSIEUR roland sp303,404,606,808
Ensoniq sound has nothing to do with the other brand cits the sound is fat the effect of the edition are violent and more complete sample.
Report qualiter price is unbeatable, I got a 250euros that price any other sampler rivals apart the Ensoniq EPS16 More,
I refrais lexperience with this choice without hsiter.

32 polyphony, a password to make instrumentals search. No need to double the sounds, they type in the red on their own (unlike some machines that require double or even triple for the sound to make it sound bigger and stronger, which really does not help in passing the polyphony)

Effects of DP4: there really is not much (40 all of the same effects, Varis and versatile, excellent quality, low and midrange Lexicon or TC are buried), only three are apply all sounds BUT
1) with the resampling, this limitation is quickly canceled, you want to have an effect on channel 2 and another on channel 3? resample the channel 2 with its effect, and you're jou ...
2) little effect, but the quality is sublime. If you know the effects of DP2, you salivate dj if you do not already know, you will have the chance to take your Premire slap sound.

Standard Memory: 2MB (ha ha!) Expandable 66 MB + 2 MB of ROM sounds effective (111 waveforms, low battery, through the magnificent Transwave) + possibility to add the map Urban Dance internal sound ROM, 24 MB of sounds and more: these cards can not be found and research, it is the parat trs good.

possibility to add a memory of mass SCSI 3 (a zip, a disc Rude) to make him swallow a lot of little sounds concocted with love by you on PC formats accepted:. wav (yes, really) , AIFF, AKAI, Ensoniq (how bizarre)

In fact, sending samples from WaveLab or SoundForge via SCSI does not work well trs (euphmisme), my solution is to send the samples from the PC into an AIFF or zip DD in a SCSI, then connect the zip or DD aforementioned ASR, then load the sound in the scratchpad of the Ensoniq and compose as a. .. This is less direct, but it works as well.

Connections: 2 inputs, two outputs, headphone, Midi trio, SCSI 3, 8 output expansion cards supplmentaires (at prohibitive prices: Do not rvez is dispensable option, instead of evokes a certain card above.)

Utility edition? PC or Mac? Not at all. Why? because the sampling is ais and intuitive, although the machine is not intuitive in its TRS program management, but with a little practice you get used to rev well. no style SoundDiver editor on PC though.
For those who insist all the same, there are utilities to switch from PC to ASR 10 (this is the great FRRE) ENSONIQ sound format: If the general can do that, a priori, the small can too. But given the time spent making the conversions, it is better to burn a CD in AKAI format or AIFF.

UTILIZATION

First point: the machine is solid! all in red mtal it inspires trust and reliability. It's always reassuring when making concerts. In this regard: not a bug, not a crash ...

Deuxime point: in four hours, it was almost all-inclusive on this machine, provided you have a little dj tt samplers: the first samples, searching for sounds in the internal ROM (what begin to pieces without a blush), Resampling in three steps (press the Record / sampler / assign the sample a note on the keyboard / worship / restart), dosage effects, channel management, the first step s quencing ...

Intuitive, yes, the word in concert must sound effortless, and without being obliged to resort to manual. This one is well done, but given the simplicity of the machine you may decline to break out your English course to get to read it.

Demonstration by example:
I'm on the piste1: with the left wheel CATEGORY I choose to apply sound (drums, bass, hit, organ, TRANSWAVE, FX sounds or samples) with the dial on the right I select the sound in particular.

The ASR 10 is not as intuitive (but what a beautiful bte, too ...), samplers Rack will never give you as many possibilities in such a short time, the current samplers (RS 7000 Yam or MPC 2000) are able to give you the same rsultat (although in terms of sound, was being discussed ...) but I do not think that happens so quickly was that with the ASR ...

OVERALL OPINION

Well, the Ensoniq is a story of passion, we will not return to the top, was not explained.
On paper, it is outclassed by BCAN latest issue (although 66 MB RAM, SCSI, the effects pro and editing capabilities as standard, is not common) but in terms of ITS, Ensoniq is still one of the best companies provide tools that come to carry you.

Do the math: Of all your BCAN, samplers, squenceurs, MPC, synths, there is only one that is there a real need and that you do not spare it for the world?

UTILIZATION

Overall it's pretty simple, but it's like any machine that offers a lot of things, we must learn to use it at the beginning.

The party sampler is very simple and complete.

The sequencer part is too simple and lacking in some editions, but overall it works.

The party effect is super simple, like all multi effects.

We are obliged to put out to charge sounds, new sequences, edit the sequences.Mais the capacity of the memory can perform well and not having to reload every turn.

The resample is super easy.

The SCSI transfer are very good.

Exports midifles.

I am a crazy rhythm then slice with recycle, Awave and translator, no problem, the asrx manages it very well.

The converters are not transparent but they are far from being, in fact, despite what I read.

OVERALL OPINION

I use intancement recently.
Apart from a little train that sequencer (no pb when it is synchronized externally) I find this Sequencers really good, shame that the production is arrested.
Now it is found more than occasion.
I put 9 because of some faiblar sequencer, but it's good enough for me, it's not a BAR either, so it goes.
I have long been curious about this machine, I had the need for a sampler sequencer, other than Yamaha, I had the A3000 and it disgusted me, and akai (no effects or shit, little memory in the MPC2000) the asr-x pro delivers what the others do not.
I changed the rotary encoders (required if it was not done) if it is a hassle, and since I find the asrx is a marvel.
It is not "the" machine if there is one, but it completely fooled me .... I love it.

Question converter ... it awakens all my soul and funk samples
in fact, it gives a boost to oldschool samples ...
by against all depends on the sound at times I find that it in fact too much, it turns slightly synthetic ...

UTILIZATION

The manipulation is very easy to only ca gate when you decide to rename ...
had to know what the crazy RENAME in the system ... they could 'do more simple
There's something in this kind z'imperfection
the intuitiveness issue outweighs my mpc ....

I use it for 2 YEARS
She is my favorite machine mpc after 60 ...

It least: not easily managed without sequencers stable

If ENSONIQ decides to reappear with the pro asrx: stability, wide-screen options and of course (of duty pads)
It would be good ... I think the MPC is the future for a long time!

At this level there is not the easiest. Everything is hand door. This is an easy dconcertante.

Sampler, apply desired effects to samples and resampler is a breeze.

SOUNDS

For me, the sound is excellent! ASR is not for nothing apparently.

The samples are gaining momentum especially. APRS there is not enough to hit your ass on the floor eh ... but the quality is of the same excellent.

The effects: trs great quality too, I have not any utiliss but they are effective. Ideal for my use.
I do not know the ASR 10 (for comparison) and I do not care: the one I completely agree.

OVERALL OPINION

In the end,
Trs a good machine, rare indeed, but if an opportunity arises Submitted, go for it ... For the sampling ...

And yeah, my opinion is only for my use ... I do not squence with (I have an MPC 60 a) so ...
However, all the same attention to some fragility of the thing at the volume knob and the so-called rotary encoders that can navigate the menus.

There are a lot of features for the money. It came with 24 bit onboard effects processor, wav;aiff files import, 8outs, and 64mb of memory. This is only a few features that I was pleased with. Some features that need some work are the time stretch (forever and a day to finish), small lcd screen, and the sequencer.

The ease of use is not hard. I figured out the basics using the "Getting Started" manual, which was simple to understand. The user interface, like I said before, could have been bigger. This would have allowed for less button pushing to scroll through options.

I have never used this machine at a live gig. I have read that it is not to dependable live, because of the Os bugs, freezing up, so forth. I have not had a problem with it yet.

SOUNDS

The sound quality is great. There is a feature that allows to lower the bit of the sound from 16 to 8 bit. I don't know if it is a true bit degradation. I came across an effects called turntable that brings up the bottom end of my base kicks and makes them thump hard. I was very impressed with the effectsboard. Both hip hop and techno can be created from this machine. The onboard sounds are geared more towards electronic music, but it gave me a chance to practice manipulating sounds and so forth without permantly changing the rom sound.

OVERALL OPINION

It is my first sampler and so therefore I am going to love it. By itself it can be a bit frustrating because of the sh*tty sequencer. However, I use it my Roland XP80 or MPC 60 for sequencing and use the ASR-X Pro for sampling, resampling, flipping, reversing, and tweaking sampled sounds. It does it's job beautifully and I would definitely buy another one if mine were ever stolen or broke.

Takes some practice. Not one of those "hook and go" machines. The sequencer also takes some time to learn.

SOUNDS

Sounds good. Can sample clean and crisp or gritty and grimy. Gives kicks and snares nice punch. The default drum kits sound really nice as well.

OVERALL OPINION

The buttons are sensitive. After 2 years they don't function as well. The seq freezes sometimes. May have to send it in for repair. Had it for 6 years.

Love the portability of it. Love the red color. I really appreciate the effects. Love the filters. Very powerful machine. Excellent if used w/outside sequencer.
