The MPC 500 to me just wasn’t worth the purchase. Not saying its not a good machine, because it is. But to be honest it is no where near the experience you will get when using one of the other models (1000,2000, 2000xl, 4000 or 5000) . With the MPC 500 it just seems as if they took the very basic features and put them into the little machine and left out so many of the other capabilities that the other models provide that make them great. If you are going to ge the MPC 500 you mine as well save up your money for a 1000 or just say for the MPC all together and get a SP 400 or something because it has a lot more effects.


UTILIZATION

The MPC 500 is very easy to understand, you will have no problems understanding it. No manual is needed though it does come with one that’s not very big so if you did need to open it up you could probably find exactly what you are looking for very fast.


SOUNDS

The MPC 500 just lacks so many qualities that the other models have. One of the main problems with it is you cant really chop your samples right on the machine itself. When I think of the MPC 500 I think of more of a controller pad like the mdp. Which you mine as well get also, because without a computer the MPC 500 is pretty much useless , well it was for me.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, I don’t see anyone wanting to downgrade from another model to this one. So if you are a new MPC user don’t get this, just save up the few extra dollars and get a used 1000 if you have too. The only thing that I really do like about the MPC 500 is that its very compact and you can take it anywhere and I think it runs off of batteries too, but im not 100 percent sure because I didn’t keep it long enough to fin out.

UTILIZATION

Simple, I know not, be sure to read the manual which is pretty much done.

Many menus, submenus, small tips, tricks and lots of parameter to be set individually for each pad ... Too bad we can not make broader parameters ...

Although accessible on the other hand "mode" key number pad and screen printing with ptite above!

But hey, that's where we train ... Lil screen, and still be config config import ... I still advises Maid MPC in terms of the transfer with the PC ..

Yeah, I sound gets off the well.
It sounds cool, hip hop, to dub it does it well too.

Velocity is excellent (MPC pads) but I use it often in "12 levels" where everything is played back.

OVERALL OPINION

- Factory Sound Bank very average, yet it allows a minimum of fun after a good GPA is, so as everyone knows is the interest of sampler and sampler, and resampler. So a bank's fully customizable. UTILIZATION

- The grip is perfect. The system is very intuitive AKAI. Just fly quickly record and MPC will be tamed within hours. For those who do not use Hard sequencer or drum machine, it can easily become more complicated. But I think you will not find any equivalent machine easier to use.

- It's simple, everything is simple, recording a sample, adjustment scales, through the "sliding" events on the slopes, the distribution of sequences. Everything goes by "modes" available at the touch of a pad. Each mode is reserved to a particular editing work assembly sequence, effect, record, publish samples ....)

- First flat on the board, the manual is in English only. But hey it's not Shakespeare, either, it should not be a problem too.

SOUNDS

- The MPC is therefore suitable for all types of modern music. I compose mostly rap with influences electrofunk. But I also took my foot to the more traditional instruments (violin / piano rap FR), percussion or beeplines dirty westside, or even the brassy New York, dancehall reggae riddims, GNI ..... MPC = no limit.

- The MPC is not a machine dedicated to the world "HIPHOP" but the sound AKAI, rather hot is found for this kind of music. I think for sure that everything is really possible on this machine, limited only by the imagination of the composer. Samples are in WAV format (CD quality), no problem level sound quality. If you sample the MP3, retouvher would be better to still further that in the MPC, the older version of sample functions are limited side effects and EQ.

OVERALL OPINION

- I use it for about two months now. SIR, I am very satisfied.

- Goodies:

Portability, power possible with 6 AA batteries.
The same features as its big sister, a row of pads, the timestreching real-time and had another little effect it seems.
The touch pads.
Ease of handling.
The warm sound comes out (I have not tested a lot of sampler in my life, but considering the price I think it does its job well).
Her blue backlight (I know, I know, but what class!)
Its USB connectivity, ideal for drag / drop samples on the Compact Flash card.
Opportunity to do with Live.

-Cons:

Not save the top, because if you turn off the machine without malencontresement save first, you lose EVERYTHING.
32Mb internal memory, which is sometimes a fair bit to load the sample programs enormous.
A compact flash card that comes with 128Mb (with falling prices, AKAI provide for at least 1GB).
Unable to move in certain ways without interrupting the reading.
The inability to change the tempo in real time loops.
The section actually quite poor (not annoying for my style of music).
Screen too small.

- Users of old MPC will not be confused, and those who use different systems to arrive probably take over within hours. Before I worked on Roland MC and the MPC has changed my life.

- The value for money is excellent, I wonder even now what justifies such a price difference between the MPC1000 and 500. Without wanting to speculate I think that the MPC500 is the best value in the range MPC. So the choice I would do without hesitation.

OVERALL OPINION

It's been a month since I used the, I am disappointed by the ridiculous internal memory and constant back and forth between the memory card and mpc beat in order to create correct, I was working on esx level sound quality that is dirty ( a certain charm), but expression level is much more intuitive, in fact I lose too much time on mpc even if the concept is good. I think that it is absolutely necessary to buy the mpc with a barrette extra RAM (for 128mb of internal memory) or you go you take the lead.

UTILIZATION

it is easy to use, suitable for a beginner in my opinion
the manual is well done and if we want to know more there is a book in English on mpc forum detailing all you can do with
lacks a built-in function chop chop (I use the slicer on wavesurgeon computer to compensate for that) although chopper to the ear is not impossible and there are 4 pads, which have functions to help them (play all, play loop , to play, play from)

the sound is fairly neutral, not its strong point but I find it not bad for a small sampler and a sampler mpc done to the vinyl for the grain!
the pads are velocity sensitive and quality even if there are only 12!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for almost 4 years and it is sturdy, just the cursor that is a little less sensitive than at the beginning
I used the MPC 2000 (XL), the mpc 1000 and Ensoniq asr x pro is that it is less safe to use kiffa Because the surface is less impressive but has any of a high level feature!

UTILIZATION

Config ultra simple, I have no manual and I'm doing pretty well.
All functions are accessible via shortcuts clear and accurate, the only downside is the ridiculously small screen! This is also why I always pass on a PC for editing samples!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 months, I've never tried another sample and I do not try the other! MPC forever!
I now buy a 2500 to compensate for the tiny screen.
The price of new and slightly abused mpc, OCCAZ but it's worth it!
With experience, I would opt instead for a mpc 2500 but I do not regret my purchase, the little 500 has allowed me to familiarize myself with the workings of the MPC for a fairly modest considering the time I spend on it!
on the other hand, do not forget to buy the memory expansion, if one is quickly limited ... (Considering the price of nine he could at least provide ... raptor band!)
