Crate GX15R

I aquired this amp at the music station in oldenburg/germany for $150.

I like especially the clean sound no pops, no crunches, its sounds fu**ing clean, and with the implemented reverb its sounds double genius, it also has distortion and an headphone and speaker output, its so cool for this little price, not just for beginners. sure, its nothing for the stage but at home it can rock.

It does a lot of screaming when its distorted and turned loud, also when reverb is turned more than half way, but you can fix it, if its stands away from walls. the distortion sounds a bit like it would be played in the room next to you, too less treble and dryness in it, and zou cant fix it with the treble or bass control on the amp, then it would sound really bad, for this problem i bought the danelectro black coffee pedal, it can fix it real good.

its really solid. on my one the skin starts to peel off, altough its just a half year old, maybe thats because i transported it uncovered in wet weather.

If you dont search an amp with really good distortion, this is your amp for practising at home or a little jam session, the distortion is not bad, but there are better ones. with the reverb and the distortion, you can reach a sound, very close to santanas samba pa ti. you wont regret this one.

It is a 12 watt amp transistors.

Connections: between a jack, a headphone output, speaker output.

UTILIZATION

The configuration is very simple, it's a small amp.

I use it with a copy of a Stratocaster and Epiphone Flying V, faithful rendering seems ...

I use it for just over two years c'tait my first guitar amp.

What I like most? I think it is that it have enough potato to get along in his room with a bassist and a rhythm box (but then with a drummer not dreaming ...)

I tried a marshall before buying a Valvestate I think, but I missed a fist to buy tickets ... if I had had this fist post I never wrote this test

The report price is good quality, without more, we pay for but that's it.

With the experience and the same state accounts, yes I do it again this election, but for just over one can have a lil marshall ...

Anyway, it's an amp for beginners, I would even say it's a very good first amp.

Previous opinion as stated, simply connect between a jack, headphone and speaker.

Rglages simple as: - an overdrive channel with two knobs: gain and level
- A clean channel with level knob
- Bass equalizer middle high
- Reverb

UTILIZATION

This amp is simple and this is a combo application of this type. I can not see what could be better. Rglages with so little, we get a decent one easily, but the possibilities are not harsh environment, considering the price, you can not complain relement.
The manual provided me no relement aid in research I undertook sound (I beginners with this amp and I always play with) but let's say that comes out quite easily by itself.

SOUNDS

The sound seems to me that Crate exellent. I play mainly metal (heavy and no) on an Ibanez RG170R (entry-RG) but rvise a luthier in a Dimarzio bridge. I play in a band with a low (hartke65W), another guitarist (who possde a Marshall 100W) and a drummer who knocks me well and I just heard but still correct. The overdrive is pretty dirty, but fun to rev my style of music. The clean is irrprochable, both for agreements boats for jazz (good well rounded and warm, I love) except that it saturates ds you push a little too ...

Big problem: I play in repeated if the DiMarzio, the receiver emmet a kind of hyper acute dplaisant feedback when I do not play, and I can not take the power of my nouveu mic this amp. But for a 15 watts, the issue, I find much to his suprieur Peavey (bandit) and Marshall (MG), the saturation of these do not reach the Crate of potatoes. Without dvaloriser the competitors, I find that many brands of amps have their turnover to some dj Notore acquired in the past by the image it gives or stratgie adopts the marketing ... I test and Valvesate MG Marshall, and Peavey, and Marshall all-tube to my luthier, and only the Marshall all-tube silent suprieur of him after me .
However the Marshall MG which I compare the Crate is a 100W, so I've never test full power, while my Crate works its maximum during the rptitions.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 4 years
I love his panache, his dirty saturation.
I just compare its equivalent Peavey (without reverb on the other hand) at the time of purchase, knew nothing, so I trusted the salesman who advised me the Crate, and I am not of quite the opposite.
Pigalle bought the 150 era, I now know that it is in Germany at about 90 Thomman Cyberstore. So qualitprix exellent.

I would do without this choice hsiter even with four years of decline. Even better, my next amp will be a Crate 65W

In fact I use this amp in Parallel with Marshmall VS100. The marshall is responsible for the distortion venere (ave a ton of effects including Warp Factor, Equa, multi, reverbs and other ...), and Crate handles it sounds clean. I toggle between two amps ac an A / B of the practices (behringer thank you!). The clean sound is his forte! I find real pleasure and delight to hear. The reverb is quite his job, but strangely she emits a big buzz when I was up more than three quarters ... weird.

So I will not speak of the channel distortion, which is simply a stack. No potato, its a cold, no way out a palm worthy of the name, or type a solo is emetic. Even the saturation of Darkthrone or Mayhem on the "Live in Leipzig" is better ...
