    Marshall MG50DFXPublished on 07/21/03 at 15:00
I got the amp at music123.com for $350.

Great amp!!! Worth every penny. It is loud, has pretty good effects and a nice footswitch, it is fairly compact and light weight, and it sounds excellent.

It is a great amp!! No problems!!

Very high quality. Everything works perfectly and always will. That is why you buy a Marshall.

Great amp for anyone, a begginer or a proffessional musician.

I bought this amp before 4 months about 400 dollars.I wanted to play death metal with heavy cool sound, and this amp was ideal...

Well, first of all, with this amp u can either practise with ur own garage band or even use it for gigs. It has four effects(chorus/delay,delay,chorus,flanger)and one seperate control for reverb. It has two channels(clean and overdrive) and it can simulate the sound of the expensive Marshall models.

Sometimes,if you use a distortion pedal(i use Boss Metalzone Mt-2)the Flanger on the clean channel may not be heard properly.

I don't find any other disadvantages...

I got this unit at a Music and Arts center for $300, which was a better deal for what they had it at Guitar Center.

I don't like this amp, I love it!!! I love the onboard effects, especially the flange, delay and reverb. Even though it's a 50 watt amp, it's definitly loud enough for gigging, or practicing with your buds. With this amp, I can get anything ranging from low-down, knitty-gritty blues, to a classic rock tone, to in-your-face heavy metal. This one of the best versatile amps on the market!

There is nothing about this amp that I don't like, I love it all!!!

If it wasn't durable, it wouldn't be a Marshall.

Overall, I love everything about this amp. This is a great versatile amp …

If you looking for an inexpensive, yet quality amp from Marshall, that is soft enough to practice in the midnight hours, but can really deliver a punch for gigs, than this is the amp for you. Marshalls for everyone!!!

The amp has both channels clean and overdrive with bass and treble rglages on each and SETTING THE contour on overdrive. The selection is done either by a switch on the front panel or by a footswitch that comes with the combo.
on the output there is a multi-effect knob said, actually moving from one chorus of a flange according to the position of knob and more reverb on numrique 2em knob, adjusting the volume and effect level.

    UTILIZATION

It's plug and play, I have not opened the manual is simple and time rgonomique

    SOUNDS

This is my first guitar amp so no exprience for comparison but overall the sound is very well either in clean or overdrive with overdrive is Rush on a Gibson Les Paul I do not know if it's too normal, since the Humbucker pickups are not buzzer, but good to gain!.
The clean channel offers a sound and I like the overdrive sounds fat as desired. There is a lack of brilliance for sounds like Jazz but Marshall is not good in it instead Jazz rock and does it well.
The multi-effect is simpa who has nothing else but lacks Deffinitions when pushed to use with modration.

I also use a Digitech RP200 and it is the foot. remaining on the clean channel and the following connection: Guitar, pedals, the number of combo sound is stunning, I spend a Hendrix Metallica through Pat Metheny's great. For the pedals with the Overdrive channel has less to seek to have a sound weird forget ;-)

The other use of RP200 with the combo is: guitar combo between the RP200 and direct the output and effects loop output RP200 not in effect return but in the line between .
L there is no volume for SETTING THE line between then using the expression pedals Volume on the RP200 is essential and by applying the well is up!
There are superimposed: the sound of the guitar that goes with the normal rglages the combo and a top layer of the 2em worked by the RP200. Y a koi do ;-)

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 5 months from the buzz that can come from my guitar cable or a high gain overdrive on channel there is nothing to regret about this purchase and as this is my first purchase I can make great comparison. For the price since it is those five months baisss prs of 20% and for the same price today (October 03) I buy the same in Stereo with 2x31cm (large rage). but on the whole test in the store with a variety of "small" in the same type combo Peavey, Ibanez, etc. .. for the price I am satisfied with trs. After 5 months I still dcouve other sounds with the use of RP200 branch using the wealth of connectivity marshall.

and taken to the power supply.
So the very classic, we see immediately what to do for the sound.

    UTILIZATION

Level configuration is simple and clear, to simplify, we branch left, and the sound goes straight up, it is difficult to get any easier ...

Do you get a good sound easy?
Enough facilmente yes, with a little experience we end up having the desired distortion in no time.
For cons, the sound is clear enough identical, except late in the course of the gain knob, which adds a real crunch, we approach a lot of Daitro for those who know ..

The manual is useless, everything is extremely clear, it can be used for examples of sounds when you do not know the amp, but otherwise it is useless ...

    SOUNDS

    Clear sound
for its clear, the Gain knob is not just adjust the volume of this channel, it can really determine the amount of "gain" from clean, ie if the knob is near the mini, it will push the Master for something kind of beast, but the sound will typically transition: very clear, very cold, perfect for metal arpeggios, for example.
When pushed to the middle of the race, a slight improvement is felt, the sound gains a little heat and brilance, but nothing huge.
where this button is starting to become really interesting is when it is turned from the 3 / 4 of its travel. At that time, the win by slamming her, not at the level of AC-30, but the simulation is much closer to reality with warmth, roundness (the above is not crystal clear away end) and when it is fully, we get a clear sound really hot, which will tend to "crunch" a lot of the attack and the microphone selected.

    Overdrive
the range of the overdrive is really interesting, you can navigate between the almost clear, too much reacting to the attack, and a much larger distortion bourrinne to Slipknot and Metallica, to AC / DC or santana or the bluesy crunch, let us crazy ... The contour knob, replacing one of the mediums here, really sculpt the sound to 0 are cut low mids and high are "Bosst", and 10 is the reverse with a cut in the treble, for example by adjusting the sound with (from left to right): 8,6.5,7,5, it is quite close to Mettalica. There is thus a very versatile overdrive, much more than the clean sound for my taste.

    Effects
The onboard effects are pretty good quality, I use mostly chorus and delay, but very few. But we can get the 80's quite easily typed or typed "guitar hero" with beacoup of delay as well. Their setting is very gradual, and the fact to the effect to add some bottom fishing to your sound (the clear sound with the gain in depth and gain a bit of grain when the effect is welcome to stop).

Played with an Ibanez GSA60 and a BOSS HM-2 used for the crunch, the sounds are quite simpas, the light can be really slamming, especially in position or double + single micro environment, and distos are really usable, it navigates easily from one style to another.
In short, sounds very versatile, but clear sound a little weak compared to the overdrive. The effects are not of the quality of a Pandora, but go well for someone who does not know what a chorus or flanger.
9 / 10 because of its light can be a bit bland.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several months, and this amp has satisfied me, even if it seems outdated after trying an AC-30, this amp will satisfy those who want enough power to cover a nervous drummer without straightening the neighboring can be addressed a little cafe-concert without much worry.

Points +: overdrive, simulating lamps of good quality clear sound.
Points -: the clear sound rather bland in its dévut cousre, we do not see much difference between the start and half ...

Value at the level of services provided, I bought € 290, and I would do this choice because it's still a good amp, provided it is not known what the amplfication Tube ...

    UTILIZATION

When one would not know, we see plenty of buttons everywhere, but do not panic! The manual is your friend: it is simple, clear, and it will quickly become your friend. To find your sound, make it confience!

    SOUNDS

It should trs good to everyone, it is versatile trs: we move from Red Hot Santana via ACDC and Green Day in the blink of an EYE.

Even me, playing with a simple Stagg I install superlight Elixir strings, and with this amp, the sound is nickel! (Why do I buy a guitar that is the skin of the buttocks? ^ ^). Then I can play my Red Hot Flanger with chris .... : D

    OVERALL OPINION

I have since yesterday I write the time o! dja like any of this amp ... I think Marshall makes the best amps in the world ... (APRS to me). For 299, I am more than satisfied, I recommend it!

    The optional pedal is amazing

9 / 10 because of the headphone jack that doubles as a line out and on which emulator HP is very poor quality (usually at Marshall, damage)

    UTILIZATION

Simple configuration, the only downside is that you do not see its setting when changing channel, thus forcing some to make small changes. But it's no big deal.
the manual is very clear, must be read before using the amp anyway, especially for the use of footswich and programming.
It gets very very easily with this amp sounds good, then if we try to make rock brittish typed, fine.

    SOUNDS

This amp is super versatile, I used to play at home because my JVM remains in local recurrence. I almost thought for a moment to bring it to compare and transfer the JVM (no, seriously still remain).
In short, the sounds are very very convincing, for a transistor amp in this range, I would say it is extraordinary.
The effect section is somewhat rather weak, but it avoids having to beginners sounds too weird and difficult to configure.
The clean sound is OK (you can even do cruncher, but I would not recommend).
The crunch is a pure delight (without the dynamics of a crunch to lamps)
The overdrive is excellent, the OD2 and more compressed, to book for solo I think.
Each channel stores its settings, including built-in effects, effects loop, reverb.
It only remains to adjust the master volume to the situation. A delight.
I very strongly recommend this amp to those who hesitate for an amp in this price range, I think it is well above the competition.
The only drawback is that Marshall is a pure, no emulation here (actually I put in default but that is what led me to this purchase, because I hate low-end emulation lifeless at VOX-Line6-Fender and others).
This amp keeps personality while being versatile.
You'll understand, I love this little beast.
IF my JVM I loose one day in concert or just before (or lamps transformer), I'm confident with this little combo help, I get to do much with my job.

    A MUST HAVE

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 months.
I had a lot of amps (tube or transistor). I'll never make me emulators (though I had a Vox AD60VT home pretty well, but nothing to make it sound like pauuuuvvvrrrreee ...).
Transistors in the combos, I liked peavey (depends on the models all the same, preferably at Bandit 112 of 1990 and sent to 110 of 2002).
What I like most is that he is very versatile, with its crank is a killer, 4 sounds beneath the foot (or 5 depending on the programming of that same bracket).
What I like least .... good, say you can not see its settings from one channel to another, so boring to adjust a setting.
The value for money is good, without more, do not push it the transistor, but it's good nonetheless.
With experience and when I write this commentary, I would do without this choice a moment's hesitation.
I would almost even say that if I had not already JVM410, I might have hesitated between the JVM and a head MG100HFX so it's nice not to wonder if the lamps are well heated If the sound is good auusi this time because he is a little colder, or warmer, or wetter, etc ...
Briefly, the Happiness in the transistor with this amp.

Small flat, the EQ is practically useless, we do not feel any real difference from one setting to another.
For distortion, lovers rock sounds to sound metal will be served, knob contour skips to sound like AC / DC to Metallica, and if more are made with mumuse gain ...
Effects? clean enough, they are light enough and therefore do not color the sound too, personally I prefer. on the other hand for the delay, fans of dub, go your way, on the other hand, coupled with the reverb, you can get a sound close enough to Shadows example.

    OVERALL OPINION

After a little over 2 years of use, I'm still not tired! I tried an H & K Matrix 100 that I sold almost immediately, the Fender Frontman 100 of a dude, but I can not play other than on the MG 50 DFX!
My sounds are reggae, blues, dub and metal, I found the versatility this amp with a really huge + for clear sound!
Value for money at the rate where I gained is unbeatable, 180 Euros for sale (one year old amp).
Sure, I would do this choice!
