Vintage Fender

Fender Princeton Reverb "Silverface" [1968-1981]Published on 07/10/11 at 22:57
Back in the day when the amps were built with sweet care and concern and the guitars were individually nurtured through birth. These were the days when you could feel the soul and heart that was put into each amp and guitar that came out of Southern California.

Today many and most of the amps are made over seas or outside of the border. This ensures quality and not quality of care. amps today can be seen with a jumbo amount of switch and control knobs that just get in the the way of pure tone.

Well these amps were just pure tone. They have a soul and character to them that almost makes each one unique. These amps have a tone and intensity to play and be heard.

SOUNDS

The tone of this amp is one of the purest tones in existence. You can hear the fluttering of the tremolo and the analog reverb that just puts the worries of life behind you. You can get lost in tonal bliss with just a few minutes of playing this amp.

Play this amp with a quality Fender Stratocaster or a nice Fender Telecaster. You can get a sweet tone with the two of these pared up and cranking. There is just something magical that happens between a good Strat and vintage Fender amp that is more than heavenly.

OVERALL OPINION

Today you will have to pay a good price to score one of these amps. I have seen some of these go for around $2500 and as low as $1700 for 60's amps. I have seen some 70's models go fro around $1000 so that is a great price. These amp good priced amps but also expensive depending on who you are asking. But a great vintage amp for about the price of some new ones is a good deal.

Fender Princeton Reverb "Silverface" [1968-1981]Published on 10/28/10 at 16:57
The Fender Princeton Reverb Silver Face version is a small guitar combo amp that was made in the 1970's (or at least the one that I've used was made then). There's all different versions of the Princeton Reverb, including a reissued version, but this is for the original Silver Face one. The amp has 12 watts of power and a single 10 inch speaker inside of it. The amp is indeed a tube amp and just has two 1/4" inputs in the front of it.

UTILIZATION

Using the Fender Princeton Reverb is as simple as it gets for a guitar amp. If you know even the slightest bit about amps or guitars in general, you should be able to use this amp without any problems. The parameters that the amp has...…

UTILIZATION

Using the Fender Princeton Reverb is as simple as it gets for a guitar amp. If you know even the slightest bit about amps or guitars in general, you should be able to use this amp without any problems. The parameters that the amp has include volume, treble and bass tone knobs, reverb, and speed and intensity for controlling the vibrato effect. If you have used a Fender amp before, you'll certainly recognize this make up. Everything should be self explanatory, so a manual isn't necessary.

SOUNDS

The sound of the Fender Princeton Reverb is outstanding for such a small amplifier. I recently was working on a session where the guitar player brought this little amp in. We have a lot of amps to choose from at the studio I work at, including some smaller ones, but this would take the cake compared to any of the smaller combo amps we've got, which is saying something because we have some pretty good ones. The Princeton Reverb has a super clean sound where it's possible to get a bit of volume without over-driving it, which can be done, but for the most part it's very clean. For what we were going for, this was absolutely perfect...

OVERALL OPINION

There are ton of different vintage, small combo amps that Fender has made over the years, but the Princeton Reverb has to be one of my favorites. It's really the perfect amp for recording if you're looking to get a crystal clean guitar tone. I'd probably recommend a bigger Fender amp like a Twin Reverb if you're looking for some overloading tubes, but I'd go with this one to get that clean guitar sound. Don't know what kind of price this would command, but probably not too cheap since it's an older amp. Either way, if you're a serious guitar player looking for a great small tube amp to record or practice with, the Princeton Reverb is hard to beat.

Classical, see other opinions.

UTILIZATION

The amp is very easy to use, you get the perfect sound very easily.

SOUNDS

Frankly, I had a bunch of amps, and I think it's my favorite to play in my apartments. Not showy at all, the reverb of the amp is great, it really thickened the sound, gives the density, depth.
This is the lens and are the most complete I've ever had. A really great amp.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall opinion: an amp to have for those who love are super clear, and play blues rock jazz.

It's a small killer in its genre!
Cranked (9 / 10) it is ideal for dirty punk!

OVERALL OPINION

I have a pair of these amps for 20 years, bought a misery at the time.
they date from the 69/70.Jamais down ... everything works.
One sounds better than the other it is more powerful, crystal-clear and sends more serious
These amps are light, amazingly powerful, the sound is out to 6 / 7.
The reverb is impressive, tremolo terrible ...
This is not really ideal for large scenes or metal ...
Matos vintage relatively fragile ... Great little amp!
I even tested on 4X12 "JCM 800 and also 1X 12" V30 ... amazing ...
Amp for the room, the ox, small places, can do anything with the pedals.
Good also for electro-acoustic! Very good material!
