Fender Concert Reverb Pro Tube

Fender Pro Tube Concert ReverbPublished on 11/28/02 at 15:00
Joe's Music Quarters $ 1100.00

I wanted a Fender amp with 4x10's that captured the Super Reverb sound, but had tremolo and a second channel.

I love the clean tone, and the tremolo; the drive channel is great at a low settings (1.5-3), which takes care of my tone needs; I like the 1/4 power switch and effects loop; you can self bias the tubes when swapping out as well. Plenty of volume and tone can be shaped with the presence, bass and treble controls; the amp has the vintage looks as well

The amp weighs a ton (80 lbs) also is wider than earlier Fender amps; I'm still not sold on the bigger distortion you can get, but that's not why I bought the amp. I like more of a blues tone, and...…

The amp weighs a ton (80 lbs) also is wider than earlier Fender amps; I'm still not sold on the bigger distortion you can get, but that's not why I bought the amp. I like more of a blues tone, and it's there like a vintage blackface. If you want clean, the amp stays clean past 7, then starts to break up. The reverb has a tendency to ring past 5, but this may be a tube; I have had the amp about 4 months. The effects loop is a little noisy

Built well, except for the thin pannel on the back of the amp; most of the cab is open except for this.

I believe Fender did very well with this amp; the 4 x 10s sound very good ( I also have a Twin Amp, and I like this tone better) It's not something you are going to haul around int the car, but it sure sounds good; Stolen? not sure if i would buy it again, primarily for the portability; I have always played Fender, every time I have tried another amp, I don't like the tone (Boogie, Peavey delta Blues) I will stick with Fender.

Fender Pro Tube Concert ReverbPublished on 07/11/11 at 16:13
This was a good amp back in the day for Fender. This was a booming four 10 inch speakers and was designed to be a powerful enough amp to blast through a concert or hall. These amps changed frequently as far as cosmetics in the early 60's. You saw them with a brown tolex and brown grill cloth or just a brown grille cloth. Then came the silverfaces which was what we have come to know of Fender amps with their black tolex and silver front grill cloth.

Later on these amps were reissued back int he early 80's ad many of then have survived to this day including the originals. These amps can be had all day on the forums and classifieds of certain publications.

SOUNDS

This is a great amp for country, rock, pop, or blues guitar. They work in just about ever situation beside metal. You can slap a good overdrive pedal in front and get a very good sustaining distortion tone. These amps take pedals of all kinds very well. Whether it be a delay pedal or effects pedal or a good old overdrive pedal, these amps will take them and soak up and shoot out quality tone.

I like these amps with all Fender amps with Fender guitar if some kind. I prefer the Fender Stratocaster but also like the Fender Telecaster as well. Those two guitars just work well with the nature voicing of this amplifier. Even a god Gibson Les Paul will shake some walls with this amp.

OVERALL OPINION

I have seen these amps on ebay all day long for around $1500-$2200 depending on the year. Most of them float around the $1900 for the 1961-1965 model years. I would recommend this amp to anyone who wants to get a great sounding vintage Fender amp for less than $2000. The market is flooded with these amps and so they are easy to come by.

At the rear are the switches and standby power, an international power (full power or 1 / 4 power) an adjustable effects loop output preamp out input power amp in, taking footswitch (supplied) and an output for external speaker.
The footswitch activates the channel (normal or drive), effects loop, reverb and tremolo.

UTILIZATION

Configuration very simple and we can say thank you to the bottom bracket that allows to switch easily from one channel to another and to initiate or not the effects and the effects loop, if necessary (I did not personally served ...)

Sound, my friends, that mean?
This is typical Fender sound, clear sound and very warm overdrive.
I had, before you buy, spend a whole day to a tube amp has Pigalle try all the amps from cheapest to most expensive.
I tried this one last and he put a big slap in relation ala precision and sound quality.

The manual? Kesako?

SOUNDS

More into blues-rock, for me this kind of amp is the Panard.
I régulèrement branch: Start a Classic 50 (Mexican), a Telecaster (American series), an Erie Clapton Signature Stratocaster, a classic Stratocaster (Custom Shop), a Pacifica 904 and a Les Paul Classic.
Whatever the guitar plugged in, it respects the personality of your microphones with the addition of his post. If the pickups are average, it helps. If they are good, but there it is downright excellent.
The clean sounds are typical Fender, crystalline and round at a time and in the register I have not found better, but in this area is always a matter of taste ...
One branch of the old Strat direct and there, fans of SRV and company, hello!
Trivia: For some time I kept a Twin Amp (1994 edition) at home, and I was surprised by comparing the clean channel of each combo. Same family sound (normal) but still quite different (surprising): the Twin rings dry with plenty of power and a very fast attack, the Concert Reverb offers light compression and a lot of heat, it seems more round, however, a micro acute old stratum slamming a sec, go figure ...
The channel is saturated Bluff crunches are simply extras and sounds saturated granular wish with a real personality, but if you want a more smooth, a good distortion pedal and presto!
But do not expect to do the bare metal, there are other brands for that.
I note that I am not a fan of sound "metal" midrange cut, however, in the amount of treble pots and bass and by the middle zero, it would almost ... but if you want more in this area, there's the p'tites pedals (Boss Metal Zone) that work really well.
I would add, finally the reverb (spring) is very good and the tremolo.

OVERALL OPINION

It's been more than five years that I play this amp, and if I sometimes use other amps it is always with joy that I find my Concert Reverb.
I had other experiences (sound) with a Fender Twin Amp, a 4102 JCM 900, a Hot Rod Deluxe, a Mesa Boogie DC5 and a Peavey Classic 30, a Marshall DSL 401, Orange Rocker 30 currently but I Combo think it's one that offers the most versatility, and for the moment is that I like most.
If I had the choice again, I do it again no problem.
I refer to the price / quality ratio, I would say it is very good despite not really democratic price (2200 Euros when I bought it), but it is a material very well finished and built with care, good quality even though the manufacturers of its kind Custom Audio are far better.
Under the disadvantages we can put the weight, but that we know before you buy (must know what you want).
Try it, if you find one, it will be worth far all the talk!
