Gibson GA-5T Skylark Tremolo

Year 1964-1965? All-tube amp class A: 2x6EU7 in preamp, power 2x6AQ5, 1 6X4 rectifier (lamps manufactured anymore but I found NOS).

Given for 5 watts. HP 10 inches (I recovered with a electro harmonix was already good but I put a weber alnico and is better).

The 110v power transformer has been replaced with a 220v-made by Electra Southwest. 2 inputs: mic or instrument. Settings: Loudness (gain), frequency (speed of tremolo), on / off switch

UTILIZATION

Is connected, you light, clear sound, it sounds, we go up the gain, crunch it and it still sounds.
The HP 10 is limited in the bass but with my Les Paul, who is (too?) Charged, that's fine. Superb reactions to the attack.

SOUNDS

This amp makes my guitar sound better than my vox AC30CC2X and I do not speak of my effects pedals.

Super pedal friendly, all my pedals (analog) sound effects and show "controllable." On Vox, there are times too sharp, too low and we must think about his way of playing for it to pass. Volume level, it is clearly not powerful enough to play in a group with drummer without transplanting.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had almost a year. This is a great amp for playing at home and save: lightweight, compact, accepting all the effects pedals and sound at low volume! The hardest part is finding period lamps especially 6EU7.

Apparently at the time, was the direct competitor of Vibrochamp Fender, reference in this field. My dream is to have even more powerful (30watts) and 2 Hp to 12 for rehearsals. After research, I eye on a combo Hiwatt Custom 50.
