OVERALL OPINION

I use this amp since 2009. In fact, I would say that I had available in late 2009.
As of December 19, 2009, I gave the amp to the seller (in Luxembourg) under warranty because the amp had cracking after a few minutes of operation.
The amp was returned to the importer and I only recovered in April 2010, after several visits to the store and several e-mail reminders.
End of 2013, new problem: the start, the amp is a "hum'puissant when turned on.
But at that time, the seller has closed his shop. To find a solution, I check a few web sites, I re-re-read the manual, ...
Internet does not really help on the subject and the manual tells me that a problem rarely comes from the preamp.
In desperation, I replace the lamps 6L6 power and replace one by one the lamps 12 AX7 ensuring reinstall the original lamp if the problem persists. And then the 3rd lamp 12 AX7 replaced, I note that the problem disappears.

Since then, the amp works properly. But I dare not comment on its reliability without testing for at least one year.
I am happy to read that some players are satisfied with their purchase. For my part, for 1800EUR, I expected fewer problems. And if other guitarists have shared the same experience, I'd like to know. And especially whether the problem is reproduced. Thank you in advance

UTILIZATION

Settings easy! Malgrès all the options available to us, we get immediately a very good sound. The manual is comprehensive and clearly explains the operation of the amplifier if you touch has a particular function.

SOUNDS

Just fantastic! It will sound typed in his Anglo-Saxon American typed. In his clear, it is very close to Fender amps. This gives a wide range of sounds with this amp, capable of anything! Blues in the old Modern Metal.

OVERALL OPINION

My version is Custom Color "Wine" (pictured).
I use it for 2 years. Although Mesa Boogie are expensive, this choice I would do without hesitation! This is an amp to life!

Old (well new) 50W tube amp Mesa families.
A concentrated power in a fairly compact but still heavy (and yes it lights at all ... lol)
Fairly comprehensive level connections, possibilities of control and switch the channels, reverb and contour of each channel.
There is not just a reverb effect a lamp which is not bad at all.

UTILIZATION

Like any amp lamps that respects the setting even for his influence on the DSIR quickly so you still have a while to find settings that suit us but it is fairly easy to adjust in the end.
This gives a great sound quickly in view of its versatility.

The manual is still in French but in terms of Anglo-Saxon version is complete and prcise than enough for novices like experiments.

This amp suits me perfectly because I really played all styles, from blues to mtal, and each style it fits perfectly rle.

For mtal he may not have the gain of a correction but I find it really special and very very good.
I tried a dual head grinding three channels at the same time as the 5:50 express, both on a 4x12 inch on! and frankly should not rely on the appearance of the expressway, it sends the right thing, and especially on a 4x12 cabinet. "

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a month and my sound arvolutionn ca.
I love her sonnorits in 50 watts for metal and high gain sounds, and 5 watts class A sound for a little more prcis and vintage, which is really just as bad as the sound 50 watt class A / B.

Being able to switch between the two and therefore have four modes in class A is a treat and provides a versatility really gniale Audible! It has eight different types of sound, coupled with the possibility of setting of each contour and you can imagine ...

Mesa ca dchire frankly, it's really great stuff, after it is a matter of taste, but me I want more! I would do without this choice hsiter!

Should have a lot of DIFFERENT style, even when the TRS is clean and funky slap a lot (jadore), the crunch I use it too much because of my style of zik but it is good (I think that he are ways to beat if you been a fan of the crunch), the blues is trs good, it approaches the crunch but much rounder and crmeux (like washers), the burn is extremely effective, c is powerful, that is hot, there are lower highs and prcises slamming but for those who do go in. ca death, that is not sufficiently compress Mylen that we can put a lot of gain.

I play the big rock that touches the mtal, and for me it's going great. it sounds too easy to have a Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, rage against the machine, refused, system of a down, that is to say well nag, but not much.

I use it for one month, and I have bought a mesa 1x12 cabinet (Roadking I think), the sound is always good, that's the lights, I tried to other models as a Framus, a Marschal REdition 1966 (a small 18 watts class A is standard and has a great distortion), a hugger and Kettner (jadore name, is write a simple pa) which ignores a lot but when even a little too much and with no impact to the con, a switchblade .... Still others but basically I did not want those big fat cunt Rican mesa boogie ultimately their sound is superb: I have cracked ...

The report price is exellent quality, it's 1800 catalog ers, I have had a 1500. that is expensive, but all good tube amps are expensive and even more.

UTILIZATION

Config very simple, the most significant is the truly independent as 2 channels of EQ and the gain and master contour.
Beware the EQ settings greatly influence the overall sound ... (Sign of a good amp), the outline provides two somewhat distinct from the channel (kind of boost for solos) but also rich in harmonics so not bad for the clear sound equal.
the manual is in English but very easy to understand and I think need to learn to adjust to his amp and the sound (you will win qqes hours!)

Very wide range of sound, even more distinctive rock qd, the clean is great, the distortion powerful but never aggressive (which I like in Mesa.
Please note the sound is most accurate, you are a bread you can hear right now, this amp you will advance and play softer because it has a huge presence.
I mainly played with a Telecaster, sometimes a series Ibanez Sabre in config rock and the amp fully respects the sound of each guitar and highlights but it's important to take the time to set it to your instrument if You want to maximize.
I think the distortion does not effect the "power" of a head to play correct type of metal, for example but not my style of music dc ca not bother me
When the switch 5-W is still on the ass as the sound is beautiful and full of harmonics, ideal for recording but also to play a little softer.
I use almost no effect (ca would be a shame) just an Ernie Ball volume ds loop and a distortion to vary my sound saturated.
what I love: how clean, crunch, burn, by way against the blues I do not like the sound at all (not very high medium low) it's a bit weird. The switch to 5W.

OVERALL OPINION

I played for one month is not much, I have not toured at all, and nothing to do with the other amp (peavey, marshall, fender, vox), Mesa is the sound you can do anything with.
what I regret is not able to change the mode cannal footswitch (poblème poses to get a clean perfect if it was already set to play for crunch distortion +.
but against the big plus is that the two are completely independent cannaus in settings which offers tremendous opportunities palette (and what is rather rare on combos lamps).
A little pricey but good qd even seen the quality and finish ... ca is justified.
I do not rejourais on transistor (fender well made) with an effects processor (ToneLab vox, sometimes I feel like relearning to play.
This choice I would do without hesitation.

UTILIZATION

The configuration is very simple, two-channel indpendants all there is more basic. Optional manual, it is far from a factory trs gases such as Mark IV, for example. One thing I regret is that it is impossible to switch modes for each channel with the footswitch, a 4th switch would be welcome. The footswitch jack seems to me not trs solid, and we must connect it to connect, any "dcalage" the cut. The qualisation is effective, easy to sculpt the sound. Trs TRS is powerful, even in 5-watt volume 5 I get a battery cover. Congestion due to a combo 12 '(same dimensions as a Peavey Bandit 112 for example). For it is against heavy 27kg! and no wheels ... Quality level of manufacture, I have rarely seen better, finishing and sublime trs class. SOUNDS

Sounds of exceptional quality, versatility thanks trs all modes. Trs versatilis this amp major respects the characters of the guitar and his microphone. HP has a pretty good dynamic balance of good frquences, it is quite neutral. The contour knob can include cutting the mids to the bass and treble privilgier, so basically its going to sound bitter british big sound and dynamic lamricaine massive and powerful.
The clean is pretty typical Fender Tweed, trs hot plutt round, trs prsence in the lower right.
Saturates the crunch just right for the rhythm blues / rock is IDAL, it is trs trs prcis and clean.
The way blues is a bit too loud my taste and saturation is a bit too aggressive in the treble for the blues I prfre pushed the crunch too.
The burn is Reserved for the Lead, a lot of saturation and many harmonics. Again, clean and beautiful sound prcis! Once activated the outline we find the Mesa sound is heavy, it's powerful and massive. But beware, it is just for mtal, I can not find it quite aggressive as a correction, so if you play music extreme stick him in a good distortion pedals.

OVERALL OPINION

In short, ideal for pop / blues / rock / hard, just enough for the metal.
Without compromising on quality we have here the best of the best in terms of components, manufacturing, Sonora.
Beware, this is certainly a great amp but it sounds rather odd, it's a Mesa! you love it or hate it, it is far from the Marshall trs "Mr. World". I mean, this amp will bring out your personality based on your attack and your style of play
For the report qualitprix's hard to judge as any Mesa. I personally feel that its quality was worth every penny (albeit excessive) but you know what you want, if you want to Lexcellent gear must pay the price.

Mesa boogie is just a stellar company and their amps are just amazing. This amp is just spectacular. It has all the same tone and features as the black standard but just in a sweet Texas brown hide looking tolex. The tolex matching the structure of the amp very well. I like the way it sound and now I love the way it looks.

I wish I could work over at Mesa and just play there collection of amps on a daily basis. They have so many wonderful amplifiers to choose from it actually can get a little complicated to pick one.This amplifier is one of the easiest pieces of gear to ever control. It is two channels that has two modes per channel. Which actually makes it a four channel amp because you can switch from them easily with the footswitch.

Another cool feature is the Contour control which acts like a V formation like you would see on the Mark series amps. As you turn is to noon you will get that V formation and dial in an out the highs and lows and you turn is around.

Another great option is running the speaker out to a 4x12 or a 2x12 if you want more air pushed through for a bigger gig or a higher power rock band combo. This tone is just rich and girthy, even though it is primarily a blues rock type of voiced amp. You won't be disappointed.

This amp color combination just flat out gorgeous. This is the same amp as far as tone and features as the standard black on black version. The red just jumps out to you and combine that with the sweet tan grille cloth and you got a winner.

A little bit on the goofy side of tolex colors. I don't mind playing a nice Charvel in a surf green but a Mesa Boogie amp...I'll pass. Same features and tone as the original but just this silly color. If I got it on a great deal I would get it in this color but I wouldn't buy it new in this design.

This is the same great amp as the black standard but just in a dark midnight Blue tolex finish. It also has a unique grille cloth color that is reminiscent of a blues Fender amp. It has a tweed style cloth that looks really sharp. This amp is hard to find but you can get it online at this retailer.

This is exactly the same amp as the standard black but just in a white/cream color tolex and a brown wheat colored grille cloth. I prefer this look over the standard but you will pay more with this option.

SOUNDS

The tone is a typical tone you get and we all have know from Mesa. It is a heavily saturated tone that feels nice and warm and room filling. I started with my favorite mode which is the Burn mode on channel two. Here you will get that familiar Recto tone that you get from the Dual, Triple, Roadster, and Road King rectifier amps.

This amp sounds fantastic with a Strat and huumbucker style guitar in front of it. Another great option is running the speaker out to a 4x12 or a 2x12 if you want more air pushed through for a bigger gig or a higher power rock band combo

OVERALL OPINION

This is a great amp for someone in a a need for a simple Mesa combo amp who needs a little less power but a few more options than an Electra Dyne amp. You can get all the recto goodness and have a good clean channel for country or pop music. Plus the addition of a crunch feature gets you a solid classic rock tone if so desired.

At new they come in at around $1580. This is good price considering all the features you get with it. I recommend this amp to any guitar player needing a compact amp with enough features to play in any cover band.

UTILIZATION

it's a combo, a knob for each parameter, nothing complicated: they are running smoothly and the sound is there.
I said softly as the knobs are effective and turning quickly, or miss some sounds.

- A little less for the name of the knobs that are writing a very readable place: standing we do not know their names.

SOUNDS

I tried many things and it's this one that gave me the most pleasure.
I play with a gibson LP custom and it is a treat. a bit rich in the bass but it corrects itself very well.
I even dropped my multi-effects (prophesy) that made me lose the momentum of 5 / 50. and it is this dynamic that made me chose the 5-50

gain this amp gives very good distortion. but remains in the registry and blues rock, rock show very next channel.
it is not for the metal is what I miss.

- Little less of this section: the highs are very sharp to the ear when one is in the axis of the cone.

OVERALL OPINION

it is 6 months since I use it and no regrets.
I tried a bunch of stuff, H & K, Soldano, Marshall, Vox, Mesa Brunetti and also (I never liked until then) but within this range, and given the very high quality finishing class The 5-50 was for me.
he accuses of lacking personality, but for me it's what makes her strong point. it can not remain in the same register.
it's all-tube: accuracy and dynamics are RDV: so it pushes us to correct our game because this type of amp does not forgive mistakes or rough games. it's a bit confusing at first.
the only thing that bothers me about this combo is too much difference in volume between the channel and the other burn. because to truly benefited well ... it sounds really hard. very good ... but very hard.

going to say anything bad, it is expensive, but in this range and this quality, well this tax! O)

I wish I could work over at Mesa and just play there collection of amps on a daily basis. They have so many wonderful amplifiers to choose from it actually can get a little complicated to pick one.This amplifier is one of the easiest pieces of gear to ever control. It is two channels that has two modes per channel. Which actually makes it a four channel amp because you can switch from them easily with the footswitch.

Another cool feature is the Contour control which acts like a V formation like you would see on the Mark series amps. As you turn is to noon you will get that V formation and dial in an out the highs and lows and you turn is around.

The Mesa/Boogie Express series is a new series of amplifiers that Mesa released to replace the highly successful F series they used to have. The 5:50 version is the 6L6 version of that amplifier. It features two independent channels with multiple voicing switches, an effects loop and reverb. These amps also come in two forms -- the head and the combo. The combo version of this amp comes in a 1x12 or 2x12 format, depending on your needs.

UTILIZATION

Mesa/Boogie did a great job packing everything in this amp. The switches feel sturdy, the knobs feel great and everything is laid out very intuitively. The Mesa/Boogie manuals are always some of the best. It features various ways on how to dial in the amp, the sweet spots of the controls, how to take care of the amp and clearly explains every feature in an easy to understand manner.

SOUNDS

The sound of this amp is a bit bigger than the 5:25. The clean is a little better, and the gain is a bit more like a normal gain tone you'd hear from Mesa. The amp is a do-anything kinda amp in that it can do great clean tones for country all the way to metal tones. When in burn mode, try adding a boost. It can really tighten things up and make the amp scream. However, I kinda feel the old F series sounded a little better, but it could be because I'm more used to them.

OVERALL OPINION

For the price of the amp, these aren't too bad. However, it might be better to find a used F series that these amplifiers replaced. If you're looking for a new, do-it-all amplifier and love that huge 6L6 sound, I recommend checking this amp out. I really wish this amp came in a rackmount model like the EL84 version does, but oh well.
