Pramp and distortion in one pedal, each channel has its lamp circuit, manufactured entirely by hand (as was the great era) rglage gain, EQ, volume, fully in Mtal surper heavy but equally strong. No transformer outside, direct connection to 220V (less mess in his schoolbag)

USE

I use a bass, after having tried everything and have broken two big muff pi Sovtek (I've never been able to find), I opt for the one (by chance). I jous clear with Pramp (Always On) avans to enter the ID for the stage, has ing allows the sound to have a sound that more dchire and the distortion n 'c not talk just standard. So for bass I recommend it to all.

SONORITS

I have a 4001 Rickenbacker and gibson thunderbird Ampeg SVT 4 with 350 and 810 classic: rsultat has sounds serious !!!
I'm a power pop style, it is perfect for a little while Crader a, a rock sounds amricain but very polivalente therefore can suit a lot of style

Undoubtedly the best pedal (for bass) I test (with big muff pi Sovtek) rglages ass complicated to put in place to live, but once you find is the highway.
Pramp fabulous to use without moderation, dirty distortion much as we like,

the price and a bit expensive if like me you util that very few live, but instead of buying ten pedal shit is better to invest the inside

The clear channel:

The channel remains clear until the end, even with a emg 81 in bridge!
The tone from a sound smooth and sweet, though vintage, a more clear and Submitted!

Well, I AYou right away that I have a scratch bc-rich warlock, who does a possde emg81 in chavalet ..... so I can not give an opinion on the clear objective dsl !

The Distortion channel:

This channel offers endless possibilities!
Infringements of the Bass and Trebble is always terrible in bad cat!

a bit less gain than the X-treme tone, but more compression when you go up the gain knob and trebble!

It's stunning!

The Bad Cat 2 Tone is a high quality guitar preamplifier pedal. This is almost just like the Matchless Hot Box, which makes sense as I’ve been told that it’s the same mad scientist behind both of these boutique amplifier companies. The pedal has an IEC power jack on the side as well as ¼” connections to send from your instrument and out to your amplifier. It’s not rack mountable…



UTILIZATION

The Bad Cat 2 Tone has two separate channels that can be controlled and turned on or off independently. The first channel has parameters for volume and tone while the second is a bit more in depth with knobs for gain, bass and treble, and there’s also a master volume. It’s really quite easy to use. There’s also a separate switch for each channel. No need for a manual here…


SOUNDS

The Bad Cat 2 Tone absolutely rips! I’ve also used the Matchless Hot Box and I’m pretty sure this is more or less the same pedal since they have a very similar sound. It’s great for getting soaring lead guitar parts, especially super dirty ones while still being able to hear each note clearly. You can also get subtle with it if you’re just using the first channel, which is perfect for light overdrive. It’s definitely a versatile guitar preamp!


OVERALL OPINION

The Bad Cat 2 Tone is the perfect guitar preamp pedal to have at the head of any rig. It’s awesome in the studio and I’ve loved used it for getting ultra thick guitar parts to tape. Just having it in your chain will give you a nice sound boost even if you have the volume controls down for a cleaner tone. The 2 Tone is quite expensive, but for professionals looking for top notch tone regardless of price, it’s absolutely worth it. I’d love to be able to add one of these to my rig someday!

UTILIZATION

Channel 1 – Here you get clean to crunch (think Plexi). The basic sound is quite aggressive, hard and contains a lot of added highs.

Channel 2 – In channel 2 you get endless tube gain. This suits almost any guitar and produces a nice, singing lead sound.

SOUNDS

...in my opinion this Pedal only sounds really good when played over a Vox or a Badcat amp – amps with a lot of mid range so to speak. If you play it through a Fender or Marshall amp this pedal just sounds too harsh. It also has a lot of output – this can be an advantage as much as a disadvantage.

OVERALL OPINION

The construction of this pedal is of course flawless (or should I say matchless...). Very clean manufacturing, perfect positioning of the components…surely built to last the next 200 years…

SOUNDS

Like the X-treme Tone, the 2-tone provides an impressive sound range!

But it doesn't sound like its brother!

Its sound character is different!

Clean channel:

The sound remains clean regardless of the settings even with an EMG81 pickup in bridge position!

The sound goes from smooth and soft to present and clear to vintage!

I play a BC-Rich Warlock with only one pickup (EMG81 in bridge position) so it's impossible for me to give an objective opinion regarding the clean sound!

I will do it as soon as I have another guitar!

Lead channel:

This channel offers endless possibilities!

The interaction between bass and treble filters is great (typical Bad Cat feature)!

The unit produces a bit less gain than the X-treme Tone but the compression is more intense when you turn up the gain and treble controls!

The main difference between this preamp and its brother is its huge sound presence (the other has a darker sound)!

It's astonishing!

It produces a wonderful mind-blowing crunch sound!

I give it a 10, but I might revise this review after I test the clean channel with another guitar!

The EMG81 pickup sounds tight and aggressive in clean mode!

Update:

I bought this preamp again after selling it.

I've spent more time with it so I want to update my first review with additional information.

First of all, the sound is super musical with channel 2.

It sounds fat, wide and has a well-controlled presence.

The sound is warm when you shape the mids and it reminds me of the musicality of a Neve EQ.

Very well controlled low-mids and high-end!

The sound is homogeneous and never aggressive.

I want to remind you that I use it with a solid-state preamp.

The keywords here are frequency balance!

The gain control works progressively and it provides high gain levels for modern heavy metal.

The clean sound is also nice and ranges from smooth to twangy.

You won't get a crunch sound with this channel, and it sounds less loud than the lead channel.

OVERALL OPINION



This preamp produces awesome sounds.

The distortion is rather fat and it certainly won't please everyone...
