Yamaha UW10

The UW10 is a very small compact interface that reminds me a lot of the Behringer Ucontrol. Its very simple to operate and its only purpose is to record some basic stuff. I really didn’t even use it for much but just recording some basic demo vocals down. The UW10 by Yamaha is a very small device and can fit in the palm of your hand or you can carry it around in your pocket that’s how small it is.


UTILIZATION

The biggest issue with this device is the latency, the latency isn’t extremely bad and I have heard a lot worst but you can tell. When I tried to contact Yamaha about the issue thinking I must have done something wrong or the device must be defective they just said that there is no such thing as zero latency. In my opinion the latency was coming from the connectors that got my microphone into the interface, because it doesn’t take the regular XLR cables it takes your regular old Audio cables, so I had to buy a connecter to plug my microphone intro the had outs that could go into the UW10. We all know that the more cords and connectors you have going in between the your sound device and your interface causes latency.


GETTING STARTED

The UW10 was very compatible and only took a few seconds to install the drivers and get my system to recognize it. No manual was needed, and it did come with one and also with a disk for the driver.


OVERALL OPINION

Favorite thing about it is the size, its very small and its always good to have something like this on hand in case your main interface goes out, or in case you are traveling and need to record somewhere else. I wish I could change the microphone inputs on it and make it regular microphone cords like your normal interfaces. Using these connecters are just a pain in the bum!

I was looking to replace my card ISIS could not (for reasons we know) work under win XP. But I could rinvestir a large sum. I had the song tascam us122 and I knew that there was the UW10. My choice fell on this map. I possde a 1.3GHz AMD DURON 512MB of RAM and two 10GB hard drives 40, tascam 240 cassette! (I know it's not terrible) expander NS5R matre Studiologic keyboard, fretless bass YAMAHA, IBANEZ 5 strings, acoustic guitars Ibanez, Ibanez Electric Bass amplifier 65watts MARSHAL. I was looking to have a card that would allow me to work my squence MIDI and also able to do rerecording for my compositions.

UTILIZATION

To install it manually by running the following setup, no worries. L o should be more careful is to install the ASIO driver. There is a file on the CD info on the fawn of ProCD, but it's an obscure clarity trs! To use with its software UW10 OR CUBASE SX VERS5 must be installed ASIO drivers. Once the install is done! A registration trial of 6 runs a t conclusive and that's all I ask some Ormis CRACs but I can not be properly configured in cubase. Note however the volume, it does RULES on the interface so caution when the first record!

GETTING STARTED

OVERALL OPINION

As a general rule the card matches what I expect. Let honntes for a price of around EUR 175 USB is correct, more YAMAHA is a reliable brand (for me although sr!). I would add that I have not the talent of many of you to do a hardware test. if this choice silent again under current conditions I would do, especially since I want the table acqurir YAMAHA 16 / 6 FX and a BOSS GS10 for effects. Finally I would add that with larger means Obviously I made a choice on the hardware recognized for its MACKIE example for the table and a degidesign for the card (for working with pro tools !) but everything is a different world.
