MGR/dreamweaver's review"Boss GS-10"

Boss GS-10
I aquired this unit at Guitar Center in sunny southern CA. Paid $395.00 for it which is very reasonable.

This is the ultimate Boss processor.Bar None! The amp modeling (COSM if you will) is a lot more realistic than in other G models. What really is cool is the built in speakers which are really "loud" for their size. I could not even get them to distort at high volumes. I also dig the fact that you can plug the USB into your PC and visible make edits and create patches.

This unt would be the only one a guitarist would need if it only came with a footswitch! I use mine "live" by setting it on an unobtrusive table next to me and turn the patch knob to go between patches.

This unit is highly rugged and strikingly gorgeous. Like all the other Boss upper end processors, this thing is built like a tank!

If you're really looking to upgrade your existing set up, this unit is the one and only!
Recordings made with this unit are no less than "stellar". What are you waiting for? Get yours today!

Boss GS-10
Preamp + Amp Simulator + & HP Multi-format console numrique effects for guitar, bass and microphone.
Converters 24-bit / 44 kHz, I / O USB between guitar / bass / mic between auxillaire Stereo, Stereo output line amplifier output, MIDI input / output , SPDIF output, headphone output.

Comes with Cakewalk Music Creator (only gre audio tracks in 16-bit: - /)

UTILIZATION

Using very simple and intuitive thanks to the many knobs.
The main paramtres prampli and the base effects are available either by knobs, without going into the menu-edition.
The memory 100 users are more than adequate.
The soft Windows adds more rgonomie allowing graphical edition.

SOUND QUALITY

notice of use with guitar, headphones and PC

To be honest, I had a big section on appriori prampli / HP simulator but I quickly Agral trs t surprised by the quality and diversity of sounds.
I am not a connoisseur of DIFFERENT (and trs many) amps modliss by GS10 but all seem cohrents and transparent, each bringing a color particulire without being caricature or synth tick.
The rglages of prampli (gain, bass, middle, treble, presence) combines thirty amp simulations allow an infinite combination that cover the entire sound spectrum. For those who would not, you can even customize are clean amp / hp Virtual selection of the amp, the choice of speakers (size and number) choice of microphone positioning and distance bafflles face. phew!
The important point is that whatever the combination, we always find the sound of his guitar, which is never Touf or denatured, but development, and likewise his game and his attack .
Finally I found the preamp convaiquant very warm, regardless of the grain, light, crunchy or saturated.

For effects, the GS-10 offers:
- A compressor / sustaineur
- A simulator of Overd pedals / distortion (in addition to the distortion grapefruit!)
- A 4-band equalizer paramtrique (in addition to the legalization prampli!)
- A noise suppressor basic (in cut)
- A chorus
- A reverb
- A delay
- An effect selected from the first group, called fx1, including whawha, limit, enhancer, tremolo, etc.. (To quote the most useful)
- An effect selected from a second group, called fx2, including phaser, flanger, rotary, pitch shifter, etc..

All these effects are largely trs Settings, simultanment used (except FX1 and FX2, only one of each) and in the order desired. The preamp section can also be place where you want in the chain of effects (ds time someone wants to put the reverb before distortion ...)

N'tant not a fan of too marked effects, I mainly use the reverb, chorus and whawha with the optional expression pedals (boss ev-5) and I am satisfied trs .
I do not use any of the simulation of distortion pedals, my taste is too cold and aggressive, but I think it has the desired effect as remains in the minds of p Boss pedals.
The preamp allows any fawn to have saturations dj gnreuses warm-but-this time without the need for an overdrive supplmentaire. In the conbini 2, we have what it takes to play thrash-metal.
I have not needed the legalization Settings, the preamp's wide enough for me dj, everything that this is highly comprehensive and combined infinity, and I not see what is bound to get the sound you're looking.

Last item on the USB:
Connects to PC, you have a sound card 24-bit / 44 kHz and an external MIDI controller.
You can choose what part of the string effects the audio is sent to the PC via USB, allowing for example to play a guitar part with all the effects in monitoring (for ism and feeling) but not to record on his PC that raw guitar, see the preamp, reserving the possibility to settle DEFINITIONS effects that the end of all records in the mix.
In this case the effects are applied either on the guitar but from the USB input, and serves as a gs-10 effects loop for PC.
A final point convenient, between the auxiliary RCA which I plug my synth that allows me to free myself of a mini mixer.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for only a week and I am far from having been around.

The most important thing for me is the preamp section / simulation of hp and I'm really happy trs, each amp simulation with its own personality while remaining transparent.
I even discovering qualities and default that I had never noticed on my guitars, it is to say ...

In conclusion, the GS-10 replaces him alone my old preamp / hp simulation, effects processors, mini mixer and sound card PC! And it all with amazing sound quality, the del of what I hoped before buying.

Boss GS-10
Map numrique 44Khz + + simulator prampli effects processor for bass guitar or microphone for all his provenat a PC.

The site lists http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/en/ comprehensive capacity of the BTE. Dozens of amp simulations and effects on the sound. A bank of 100 sounds prdfinits, all editable and mmorisables (100 other memory). Many more possibilities for tweaking the sound as is humanly possible to control. One would lose if the controls of GS10 n'taient not as intuitive.

The desktop is in prsentation trs ergonomic work home, in the studio (no need to be four feet). However, it is possible to use the thing with scne pdalier south of control.

UTILIZATION

I use a low-GS10. The implementation is immediate) connect a bass (or guitar or microphone) on GS10 b) connect headphones and aluminum gear. Or, more complicated a) connect the instrument b) plug in your favorite amp.
It is also possible to get out of line out (table, walls, ...) and USB to PC (24 bits).
Everything is self-evident with this product. It starts and configures aisment trs.

Controls the switches and pots on the front are trs prcis and enjoyable to the touch. In addition, they are DDouble on the PC screen in a window graphics trs comfortable use.

In addition a complete doc comes with. Each is rglage Retailer.

GS10 comes with recording software for PC (Music Creator) that allows you to easily make small models. (Can also launch its mp3 or midi files that will be prfrs mixes with the sound of the instrument).

An auxiliary input also allows you to mix a drumkit or synth or other sound source instrument.

SOUND QUALITY

I'm not professional, but if there is a default in the sound, I have not yet found.

The amp simulations are rvls my bass. (I did not believe before too)

No breath. Each sound effect is infinitely modifiable up losing the sound of the original instrument. Fortunately a simple click to return pr-configuration table.

Chaining effects can be changed will and a noise gate eliminates the last indsirables hissing.

OVERALL OPINION

GS10 I use with my bass, a synth and a PC for two months.
I use it in home Sutdio is it really a config comfortable a. The optimized rglages After a few hours the house, stand instantanment when playing in groups.
All this can be structured by CATEGORY, style etc. .. As entand (it is also possible to leave everything loose in the memory). There is a library by its management.

I'm really happy with the amp simulation, compressor, delay, reverb, chorus etc. .... many rglage prdfini for each effect can quickly find a sound. Then for the settings is more for to be changed.

The effect is more like synth questionable (controller of difficult months for me). Also, if the machine works as much with a bass guitar, he possde guitar preset lot more (about 85) than low (approx.12). These two points are the only points that I find ngatifs.

Overall and in the trs dtail I happy with my choice. This is exactly the tool I needed.
