This week, your friday only requires an internet connection and a web browser to create audio patches by interconnecting plug-ins.
Let’s introduce Hya.io, a web interface project developed by Cristiano Belloni and designed to created audio patches. The project is currently in public alpha version.
Hya.io features two main Audio In and Audio Out plug-ins, the first representing the audio input of your computer and the second your sound card. The sound of all plug-ins connected to the Audio Out will be heard in your monitors and headphones.
The list of current available plug-ins includes effects (compressor, delay, chorus, filter, overdrive…), virtual instruments, a sample player… that can be connected at will using virtual cords. Evidently, the list of available plug-ins will expand in the future.
Patches created via Hya.io can the be saved, exported as an URL, published, loaded and used on the fly on any computer.
It is also possible to control plug-ins from a MIDI keyboard or controller or your DAW via a web browser that support Web MIDI, or the Jazz Plugin ; local MIDI is also supported, you can then use the Lisa MIDI plug-in to sequence your tracks.
Cristiano Belloni invites developers to participate in the project, they will find plug-in creation tools and documentation on the website. And if you already developed plug-ins, you can ask Belloni to include it in the list.
Discover the alpha version at hya.io.
Have a great patch time, we’ll listen to the results on Monday!
