TC-Helicon Create XT

In a nice metal case (sturdy and compact), there is a bit of everything including a singer may need: compressor, de-esser, reverbs, delays, ... + Doubler, chorus, flanger, hard-tune, megaphone ...

UTILIZATION

This pedal is very complete and the interface / buttons is not super intuitive. But the presets are top and we finally found how to navigate the pre-recorded styles.

SOUND QUALITY

I took it for reverb and delay and there, nothing to say, it is excellent. Practical or necessary for concerts in small venues.
There is a 48v phantom power included.

OVERALL OPINION

Bought a few days ago to 129 euros in the universe. At that price, you can transform an average song (my case) in a great voice, clear and crystalline. Overall an excellent purchase.
Pros: all built-in effects are very good, can store its own presets, A / B button allows two foot switchable sounds, tap tempo, the USB interface.
The least: settings not very intuitive. Even with the manual under the eyes, it is not obvious at first. An integrated and it was the holy grail effect "harmony."

The effects are of quality and especially the TONE function gives warmth to the voice. By staying on the effects were pre edited plenty to do.

OVERALL OPINION

Requisitioned for use in room 3 of poor quality. Rock band.
I read some of the difficulties concerning the singers feedback in room requisitioned with this pedal. I do not have any particular concerns. Simply adjust the effects level just right. It is still limited because the noise level of the group is high but overall I can easily manage feedback. Plugged into a PA system I played a microphone gain.
I do it again this choice. I am delighted with the product and result. This really brings more to the voice quality.

UTILIZATION

The general configuration is simple?

The general setup is quite complex because the device has lots of settings and possibilities, with quite a few buttons, so the grip requires patience and instruction.

The manual is clear, but as the device is complex, it does not immediately all the possibilities (I do not know if I am clear!).

Editing sounds and effects is easy?

Once the pedal control, it is easy to edit an effect.

HOWEVER, and this is true (only?) Failure of the equipment, effects presets not work non-modifiable at will, let me explain.

When you select the preset distortion, we can control the amount / intensity of distortion, reverb, delay, etc. ... but you can change the type of reverb or delay. If the preset distortion is assigned a short delay, we can not assign a tap tempo delay.

In 95% of cases, it's not embarrassing, but we know only its big brother the VoiceLive that allows unlimited edition.

Buying a footswitch is debatable, seeing as required for use.
It can turn off the effect without changing preset. Example: Enable / disable the delay on the preset distortion, without having to save a preset "distortion alone" and a preset "distortion + delay".

SOUND QUALITY

Effects are they effective, responsive and realistic enough?

The key "tone" is very effective. This applies gentle compression, and equalization which allows out of the mix. The sound is cleaner and clearer.

Reverb and delay on top. TC's reputation is second to none in this area.

For effects "accessory" use a lot of distortion and megaphone. Obviously the distortion does not sound as though a very good pre-amp tube pushed up, but she filled her role very well for the live.

For how long have you been using it?

I use it for 6 months. Roughly thirty hours.

Did you try many other models before getting this one?

No, but I have listened to the demos on the internet and the reputation of the TC on this kind of pedals (and effects in general) have convinced me.

I had the opportunity to hear (in real life, not on the net) the kind of pedal digitech VX400 which seems cheap and sounds cheap (in fact when you see one suspects that it messes up the more the sound that something else, and when we hear it is confirmed), and the EV-20 boss who seems much less cheap, but the overall sound reproduction is a notch below the TC.

What thing do you like most/least about it?

The -: The failure to change the type of effect for a given preset. Its only flaw for me.

The +: everything else

What is your opinion about the value for the price?

Very good. Produces well-built, affordable for small budgets, including all effects are quality.

Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?

With the same budget (250th in July 30th of 2010 + footswitch) and the same needs (wholesale switch to a raw sound compression, equalization, reverb, and sometimes with a delay or a distortion), I do it again this election .

TC now has a wide range of pedals and pedal (quality) for singers, so much to learn about the range, to choose the best according to his needs.
