UTILIZATION

Operation is simple and intuitive. The manual is very clear and gives many examples of use (though it lacks the coupling console, but it is very simple with 2 stereo inputs ...).

The only point a bit strange is the lack of direct assignment of a channel to L / R. Not everything goes the SUB, which is a bit surprising at first. But it is well explained in the manual.

For example for a basic operation:
Assigning each channel to half
Assign subs 1 and 2 L / R
To the level of subs 1 and 2 U

Once you understand that, it rolls.

You can also assign an input 3/4 group, which allows rapid mixing of a group (drums, choir, violin section etc.).

Note the presence of an additional stereo output (mix) (Utility) with independent level control (but taken after the main mix) for sound to another room or the back of the room etc..

SOUNDS

Mackie is the quality. Net and are right, no coloring, no breath if you know adjust its levels ...
Equalizers formidable. Use with caution!

The equalizer output is a bit gimmicky, but it can help in simple cases ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for more than a year. Absolutely no complaints, except that I want another one for 32 channels at hand! (Last sono: 28 channels with 12 channels extension + 2 pre-mix 2 -> 1 ...)

In the 80s, I had an Allen and Heath 16/4/2 I had improved (rewiring buses, mute, level LEDs per channel, direct outputs, headphone amp etc..). With Mackie, I all!

I like the sound quality, precision adjustments, 2 stereo inputs that allow me extension, SUB output (for subwoofer) ...

I just regret the absence of direct assignment L / R channels, but that's a detail. And also two AUX / PRE were more popular ... (enough to mix back ...). Too bad the AUX 3 and 4 can not be connected PRE ...
