    Bass made in Korea,
    neck-through, rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets
    Mechanical aluminum matt,
    2 Bartolini MK1 micro,
a passive mode, it plays on the volume and pickup balance,
an active mode, it plays on the same, but with severe, medium, and more acute,
possible adjustment of the height of the strings at the bridge, but also the distance between them,
    no adjustment to the head

    UTILIZATION

The handle is nice, not too thick, not too thin,
    good grip,
the position of the knobs can be annoying, they could have put them closer to the bridge,
to a low in this category, it is a bit heavy

    SOUNDS

I play mostly thrash, black, rock metal, rock, hard rock ...

    the sound is neutral,
    no severe fatty
for the treble is a bit garish,
no personality / characteristic to the sound,

I have used it on my amp work, a peavey minx 110, RAS,

on my set: trace elliot ah-500-7 + 1048h, it does its job,
    in fact,
we get a sound that quickly goes everywhere,

    OVERALL OPINION

5 years of use, no worries, do not go out of tune,
what is right and wrong, the sound is neutral, but it happens everywhere
and for the price (750 €) is a good tool,
I tested pulling the strings hard, so larger,
and I had to grind a few notches in the head because they were too narrow,
since I came back to pulling ropes standard

what is disturbing is its weight,
    but it gets worse

personally, it's a bass that makes the link between his first bass, and a low premium

I have been playing blues, punk and funk for 20 odd years. I retired from paid work 5 years ago after having a kid but still love to play.

I played it a dozen times in the music shop and basically fell in love. It felt and sounded better than the Fenders and Spectors in there that cost twice as much.It even out-performed the Cort Masterpiece which is the Rolls Royce of the Artisan series.

It is easy to get an array of bright, modern, punchy tones out of this bass, but more retro boofy tones are harder to achieve. After replacing the strings with Ultra-Lights, I had to adjust the truss rod, action and intonation, no big deal.

Brilliant! The guys at Cort have put a lot of care into the Artisan series, those Koreans can make superb bass guitars!

Well, I was looking at basses that cost a lot more than this, but I kept coming back to it because it feels SO good and sounds great and looks stunning.

I bought this bass from Regent Guitars, a UK online music retailer. I was looking to buy a Warwick bass but the manager at Regent suggested I try a Cort A4 locally before deciding, which I did. I paid £599 approx $1000 for it

The bass plays incredibly well. The build quality is excellent apart from some electronics problems. It has a wide range of active useable sounds, in sharp contrast to many active basses which have only one good sound. It is suitable for all styles of bass playing, including slapping.

The on/off push/pull active to passive swithching is incorporated in the volume control. This has failed twice within one year and is about to fail again. However, the new Corts being…

The on/off push/pull active to passive swithching is incorporated in the volume control. This has failed twice within one year and is about to fail again. However, the new Corts being sold now have a separate switch for the active on/off switch, so don't be put off by this comment. I don't like how fiddly the bridge (a Fortress unit) is for setting intonation, but again a different bridge (EB12) is being used now.The new model is easily identifiable by having the switch, old stock just has 5 knobs.

    Scale 34"
    Thru-neck made of 5 piece African wenge/maple
    Body is Figured maple
Nut is Brass now, but mine appears to be some kind of alloy
    Fretboard is Rosewood
    Pickup are 2 Bartolini MK-1's
Machine heads are now Hipshot Lic., mine are Schallers
Bridge is now an EB12(4), mine is a Fortress
Frets are large (2.7mm x 1.1mm. 24 frets with Abalone dot position inlays

    Electronics
    1vol,1pickup blend,3to(treble/middle/bass)
    EQ on-off switch (N.B.new models)

    Preamp is Bartolini MK1 EQ
Construction is perfect, low action, no fret buzz, superb finish.

I love this Bass! I've been playing for 40 years now, and i've had all the famouis makes, Fender P and J basses, Rickenbacker, Jaydee, Gretch, Music Man, but this is superb. To give you an idea I have my Music Man on the rack as my back up bas now. I haven't played it at a gig since I got the Cort. The problems I outlined look as thought they've been addressed on the new model, so go buy one!

I like his Polyval, comfort and it is beautiful, the small default is that sometimes noise (nut), but eventually find a way to get rid of.

Ergonomics, great! its a very versatile last, but not suitable for trick nag too.

The bass is heavy enough ...

Otherwise, get a good sound easily ... asset which is good, it's really nice ... but also the active-passive switch is really the genius of this bass, it really enriched the palette of sound that may have, but if the liability is an occasional use.

    SOUNDS

Sounds ... quite varied ... but becomes a little too punk-rock typed

    I play an Ampeg 100W

    OVERALL OPINION

Aaa while there I'll be able to spit a little of my venom.

I do not use, I did it changed twice to finally take a Jazzbass fender, because there was a problem of the handle. Basically, the shaft vibrated inside! (Especially on the ropes and mi)

so there ... it breaks all! for Paris, I returned almost all of the bass he had in stock A4 and included this defect!

In short, always to be careful what you buy at a low even for a very good finish.

That's all that I put that 6 ... perhaps not enough personality finally

    SOUNDS

I play the red hot, the SOAD, Police, some Jazz ... In short everything passes, this bass is versatile for breakfast Jedi of four strings that I am. Yet used on a small Roland Cube 30 it makes me appreciate the qualities of this mieu combo cube.

    OVERALL OPINION

In my possession for three months I constantly admire (oil finish something or other ...) I can not help but take it in my hands and play.
In the amount of price range (675 euro new), I do not regret it at all certainly can not blame him a lack of character, but for those who like me is looking for a low well equipped with a finish that could blush more than one So do not hesitate.

otherwise it's a good bass, I wanted to buy a low neck-dan a famous brand "Japan" and to double the price I have not tried the AIM Cort because I thought she was pretty and the song Averre is as good as the plumage. I found one opportunities to 350 with a nice cover. (5 times less than the SR CHRE. Everything is good and above its liabilities is wonderful. CORT do not despise, it makes good guitars APRS have worked for others they were able to take the best!

it glides perfectly, the frets are perfectly nothing n'accroche limes, the finish is good trs.
form suits me perfectly, a rounded shape, shapes that stick to the body ... no problem for the positioning of microphones slap has tudis t and they do nothing gnen.
the only problem of this low, the thing that bothers me is its weight ..

Question sounds .. there's turning the knobs to feel that the sound changes, finally APRS dpends all tastes ...
whether its a slap in the funk, a sound for rock pchu a smooth and round for walking

    SOUNDS

This bass fits perfectly with my style of music you want to slap the grave ... it sounds good with bass, treble slammin without startle every time you pull on the G string. a sound that was fishing for the game to the finger (yeah it would spoil all the mdiator)

I play an Ampeg SVT 2 pro and an enclosure svt 410 HLF.
at least with this bass is not confined to a unique musical style.

The access is very easy to acute. It is a neck through which tended to move but finally stabilized after a few adjustments.

    UTILIZATION

Question is perfect ergonomics and falls immediately in the right way! The weight is correct. She is super balanced. For audio, you must become familiar with the preamp, there are many buttons that are not appropriately placed, we try a little or is the knobs for bass, treble and midrange and even on the volume and balance. I put 9 because of the disparity of knobs.

    SOUNDS

Its versatility and look him permetent absolutely all styles and sounds on any amp, c a very good bass.
I'm going to cry the purists but fiddling aves the preamp is obtained or is approached very seriously all types of sounds MusicMan, Warwick, GIBSON, All trademarks standarts .... RICKENBACKER and even looking a bit (try before going to laugh).
I read that there were problems of vibration on the handle, mine does not.

    OVERALL OPINION

I played a lot on it for almost a year and I did not find fault except the satin varnish but it is a matter of taste, over this type of varnish makes the instrument susceptible and scores quickly and does not forgive any sudden even slightly, it does not scratch but leaves a mark that cut!

I have other low quality and I put it third on the podium behind my SCAMPI (maker of custom-made) and my JAZZ BASS.

Yes I do it again this choice but I could not ... because it is more like that! The new model is identical to a retail weight: the body was now completely maple mahogany table in maple, it changes the sound and weight.

Last point: if it was not marked CORT it could easily pass for a bass luthier as the finish is extraordinary and quality materials with Deco Wenger MAPLE, rosewood fingerboard. It is expensive for a "made in Korea" (between 750 and 800 euros) but with experience, it is well worth some models that are worth between 2 and 3000 euros.

With L'Artisan A4, we find that all of Artisan in CORT are not the same quality, this one is the high end.

    UTILIZATION

It weighs 4.1 kg, it is lighter but it is also heavier. I do not find fault him. It is easy enough to play for me who do not have large hands. The handle is not yet among the finest. Access to the treble is very good because the round is through. The pickups are well placed, they offer a place to rest the thumb for those who want, they do not interfere with the game to the fingers or slap. The head is tilted back, which is good for pressing the strings on the nut but which limit the choice of hard cases.

    SOUNDS

The sound is huge, lots of sustain, the notes well-defined bass response, the medium, treble. The 3-band equalizer is effective, each band has a fairly wide frequency action. Can I have a fat, or crystalline, it is very versatile, a quick adjustment of the equalizer and it's done. For its very roots, deaf, we must add an external equalizer tap again to remove the treble, because it does not fail. The medium is naturally a little hollow. Knob of the medium used to compensate it if necessary. The switch used to turn on or off the equalizer, not a switch for active / passive mode. This bass is heard no sound without a battery. The EQ pots and have a micro scale midpoint, but other than that it is very difficult to pinpoint a position, which is a shame. The bass comes with strings D'addario EXL165 (105-045), nickel round threads. 45-105 normally it's called a drawing medium, but compared to the Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky 45-105 that I used before, it would be rather light shooting.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had it three weeks. I'm pretty blown away by the value for money. The finish is impeccable. The sound is huge. Attention, as it has a lot of sound, we must be careful to mute the strings and play each note correctly (attack level), because all means. I have not tried many other basses but I would be surprised if we find better for around 500 euros. I would do this choice.

Made in Korea (south eh: P)
    Bridge Hipshot
    24 frets
    2 soapbar pickups mk1 Bartholin
5 = knob acute, severe and bridge pickup, neck and overall volume
    1 switch active / passive
    Channel crossing

    UTILIZATION

The handle is very nice, thin and not thick unlike Warwick. The form is good weight 4.1 kg therefore very reasonable for such a low. The access is relatively easy to treble, horn bottom can hinder the wrist for those who do not pass your thumb over the neck. A huge pannel its enjoyable.

    SOUNDS

I play mostly jazz and funk with the bass even though I could play everything. The very biggest weakness of this bass is the sound mushy and sympathetic vibration of strings that sound disgusting if you have not a correct technique. I play on an amp Warwick Blue Cab 60 and a Hartke A35 and it suits me perfectly. In slap it sounds really good the sound is either very bold or very trebly mark king style.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for almost a year and a half I have not tried before purchasing it but I really tried after and comfort her and she beats pannel of Warwick in 2500 euros in my opinion, even if the definition of it has nothing to do. I love the finish even if the head does not really please me. The value for money is what is best in class, I do it again this choice because it is a bargain to me.
