Doc Music Station, hand made French effect pedals

Denis Herbert, aka Doc Music Station, is about to launch no more than four effect pedals for guitar in December.

Doc Music Station debuted in 2012 with Lucy’s Drive, a clone of the legendary Klon Centaur which second version will be released in December with a new design (Lucy’s Drive II, 250€) that allows for installing the stompbox in a pedalboard, with jacks positioned on the side of the enclosure and the ability to add a 9V battery, something that was not possible on the first version. Note that the first Lucy’s Drive was a request from Denis’ friend, and the designer decided to built a pre-series.

Lucy’s Drive testers feedback was very positive, and this led Denis to build new pedals. You can now find the Doc’Stortion (189€), a distortion pedal based on an OPA 2604 with two symmetric and asymmetric modes, the Vintage Drive (169€), an overdrive inspired from the TI 4558 that sounds like a TS 808 and employs a symmetric silicium clipping circuit, the Val’Drive (169€), a version of the JRC 458 with an asymmetric clipping circuit using silicium + germanium + LED, and two Vintage Fuzz pedals, one based on a germanium Russian NOS MP41 circuit (129€) for Hendrix tones and the second using silicium BC 108 (129€).

A metal-oriented distortion pedal (189€) and a +10dB Boost pedal (90€) will also be available soon.

All the stompboxes are powered by a 9V battery (not included) or an external power supply (not provided) and use a PCB manufactured in Irland. Denis then modifies the clipping circuit, solders, assembles and tests each pedal in the North of France. Production is about 30 pedals a month, but it should increase very soon.
