UTILIZATION

Just tweak the knobs to find something we like.
The manual suggests some adjustments.

SOUND QUALITY

Be careful, once you push the distortion, ca sends direct timber.
However, after a year of use, I tell myself that nothing beats the distortion of the amp (coupled with an overdrive for example).
Edit the pedals for a particular type of zik, glucose is a bit I think. I use it with an Aerodyne Telecaster, Engl Screamer on.
Of breath, rather vague, despite the tone controls.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year now, I tested other distortion (whose sister DS2), the sound is rather cold and it still bothers me, once I return to the duo SD1/DS2 suits me more (or distortion of the amp).
So may be that with active pickups it sounds better, at least personal, with hindsight, I can do without this pedal.
A pedal correct, but not essential.

One branch is made mumuse with the buttons, and pouf, a works! No man had need.

SOUND QUALITY

I tested the pedals in the store with a nice Cort, Fender Deluxe amp and a lamp. T I have to connect a noise gate with the pedals, otherwise its silent way too rough.

OVERALL OPINION

I jou with the pedals about an hour. I found the design simple but nice, clear buttons and prcis.

I AIM particulirement its simplicity but a noise gate and more Intgr t have fun. Unfortunately I could not push the volume back, and the guitar was not incredible microphones, so I could not fully test this little pedals.

Currently dissatisfied with the uber metal (its too loud, too cold), I went looking for an Ibanez Tubescreamer, but I have t o the store that have not, I wanted to test it to compare a bit. If I can not find the TS, o that it does not please me, I think acqurir it.

Level quality for money, I think correctly, whatever pricey.

Be careful it's heavy, at least tudie connectivity for simple (one input, one output, plus it screams it so you really be a handle to be wrong)
A 9v battery (the same as in radio rveils) and a possibility to connect an adapter (recommended because these cost a little bent the skin of ass)

I put 7 because the boss did not really foul the above but does not ask the moon for that price not above the

SOUND QUALITY

I use it for a few months so I had time to tame and adapt its small default
The batteries are consumed rather quickly (just dpend use too) I test the boss mt2 metal zone (very good too but not so deep that it sounds dlivre) and marshall jackhammer (dcevante), the ratio quality price is right with the result I think I would have bought but also with a guitar with pickups beacoup prcis more than I currently

Analog I think, although opinions differ, I have a KH and a small 30 watt Vox: Well I can tell you with the same settings and on the same amp it sounds not the same thing (I connected to a squier .......)

Simplicity is the appointment (perhaps too?) A knob for volume, one for gain and finally the treble and bass.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of this pedal is very simple, very instinctive in fact. No need for manual, just 3 buttons to tweak (the volume is excluded ...)
Is easily obtained from large well metal just push the bass and gives a sound very heavy and greasy, or treble to give her a very sharp, really sharp.
However, I do not think you can ask for much more to this pedal and it is really made for metal, hard rock limit, but at this versatility is not the right thing.
For solo ca sending good, with a maximum thrust distortion, low to 2 / 5 and treble to 4 / 5, we get a sound a bit like Mick Thompson.
This pedal is therefore very well to metal fans but also to shredders, I think that with this pedal, solo level is not a good time.
If it's versatility you're looking for, go see else!

SOUND QUALITY

The effects are effective, nothing to say on this point.
I use it with a 202 equipped with the KH kit EMG Zakk Wylde and a vox amp 30watts.

The distortion has pushed back with very low I like these a lot. It sends the heavy what.

What I regret about this pedal, however, the absence of a cest settings; Boss wanted to do in simplicity but they could have let the metal knobs present in the area, could have been better exploited the ability of this pedal, because without these settings are a lot of I think about, which is a shame because there'll have much more to discover but sounds good!

SOUND QUALITY

then, my opinion will be mixed.
I first plugged in my VOX lil'train and there ... how to say ... bin for a high gain pedal, CA does not send the very heavy. the amp is rather vintage and association with this pedal does not suit him at all. is flat and without any real interest.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had 3 months. Its a modern, especially the lack of adjustable limit the medium option, which accommodates many a modern amp.
To avoid unpleasant surprises, try it with your hardware.

Use of this distortion is very simple ... Crootte! Me who loves to read the manuals ... 4 examples of settings in the manual, it does not make me happy too

SOUND QUALITY

Very large disto very typical metal must be somewhat subtle to find a setting that suits his style more aggressive as the stoner example, but there are ways anyway.
The low fat sends heavy well, though a bit too mushy if you push too hard.
The high, it soon becomes garish, use with moderation, even shred.
I do not rise too much the level, like 50% or a little more, if not hello breath and feedback (in conjunction with the gain).
Same for the gain too dirty sound when you push a little.
Less versatile than the MT-2, it sounds less "honeycomb", unless (again) is pushed too much high. Compared to MT-2, I prefer the texture of the ML-2.
I would have liked a built-in noise gate and a medium, it is not every noise gate and eq in the basic stuff (gift to my little fledgling guitarist ...).

Rings used on a Peavey Bandit 112 Transtube an HH VS Musician 212 Combo and a few other amps (even) with a cheap Ibanez RG EMG81 mounted in rack, home to the handle, or a Gibson Les Paul Jr., an Aria Pro 2 Cardinal and a Variax, I note a great influence on the pedal of his color, it makes "good" sounding anything ... if we do not listen too closely, after which everything is a matter of taste.

OVERALL OPINION

I tried it a few weeks before it enters its final owner (?).

I could use some OD (OD-2 Boss SD-1, Ibanez Tube Screamer fuzz ...), some (including a wah-wah unknown brand but that sounded really too well dressed to the part hum (dark turquoise metal case for which it would say something ...)) and distos (Boss DS-1, MT-2, ML-2, ME-30, DOD, Ibanez Fat Cat, Metal Charger Electroharmonix Big Muff ...) without counting simus Pod 2.0 Amp.
Regarding the distos, the ML-2 is one of my favorites even though, in my opinion, it lacks the noise gate and eq parametric or a little something from the Big Muff (the roundness of the grain and sustain).

The quality / price? Well ... it's Boss ... good quality, price a bit excessive.

Is what I would do this election? Mmmmmmoui, I might be a little warmer with a slight customization ...

This gives a disto exclusive for playing the heavy current of neo metal, Thrash.

I combine it with a jackson (EMG HZ) or Schecter Omen 6 Extreme on an amp Randall RG75G2

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 years, I do not count changer.Elle replaced a ML Boss 2, more versatile sound level but more pointed and time consuming to trim.

It's the Boss, there's something for his money (quality and reliability fintion)

It's very simple, here we have a distortion pedal which as its name suggests is a type of muscular metal oriented sound. Hardcore, grindcore.
Connectivity issue was an input an output and an input power supply, it also works with a 9V.

UTILIZATION

Using very simple there are 4 buttons to adjust the sound (low high distortion level). Manual useless even for those who never used a distortion pedal in his life

Take time to adjust your sound, try multiple positions and microphone settings on your amp.

SOUND QUALITY

As soon as you loose the cords feedback when going in all directions on parts hardcore AC does. It's good big sound. If you are tuned in D or C, there is a way to get a seriously powerful and aggressive.

I recommend using a GOOD noisegate to reduce the level of clean blows to any distortion pedal, unless you like the sound of dry hair thoroughly in the ears.
Here are achieved sommetsniveau breath, with distortion at the bottom is almost unbearable. To tell my gate is at-20db and decay to 1% (not to put 0).

I use it with an Ibanez Prestige Series RG-2550z. With Di Marzio. But I have the same sound with an Ibanez SA series. This pedal is extremely colorful sound and finally the rest of the stuff does not matter as long as it has Watts output.

OVERALL OPINION

Must have been a little over a year now. Always satisfied. I tried everything the store had in stock pedals before choosing this one. Simple: the very big sound Ultra vitamin there is nothing that supports the comparison.

I had paid € 105 at the time, good value for money I've never been disappointed by the Boss was always what we want.
+ I love the big sound, there is no subtlety, this pedal is designed for one purpose, but it does a good job in this field. Pedal No. 1 in the category logger. To play something else, change the creamery!

It is a simple and effective distortion. It is, as its name implies made for metal.
It is used only as a stomp. It is not compatible with an editor PC / MAC. There is an Input and Output. Nothing else.

UTILIZATION

SOUND QUALITY

It is remarkably effective when it comes to the heavy / aggressive. The effect itself stands not a distortion Mesa Engineering, but is still the effect on stage.
I use it mainly with an Ibanez RG350DX WH, what makes it interesting. I also use it with a Cort X-6. The Mighty Might of the Infinity Cort and Ibanez are the passive pickups. Since these microphones are not very good microphones, the sound sometimes lacks aggressiveness. However, with a Hamer Slammer Series Stratocaster Limited edition, the Duncan Design sound great (even if they are passive).


OVERALL OPINION

Distortion pedal I use this for a year now. I tried many model in a specialty store in Paris before making my choice. It turns out that this choice was difficult: I hesitated between the Boss and the famous Mégadistortion Metal Core. Some wonder: "why the Metal Core and not the other?" The only thing I found to answer is: "There I had to choose !..."
I often wonder if I should not have done better to buy another. It's really subjective choice of a distortion.
In short, in all cases the value is almost excellent. =)
A little advice guitarist, take a look at the "Twin Tube Mayhem Seymour Duncan home. It is a tube distortion for the "True Metal".

The Boss ML-2 Metal Core is a distortion pedal aimed for use with metal and heavy rock genres.  This is an analog unit that has both a standard 1/4 inch input and output and like all Boss pedals of this size is powered by either a nine volt power supply or battery.  This isn't a rack mountable unit as it is a foot pedal.

UTILIZATION

Using the Boss ML-2 Metal Core isn't hard at all as it only has some basic parameters.  This is the newer version of some of the older Metal related Boss pedals, so it has a very similar make up.  If you have used any type of distortion pedal I think you'll be able to understand how to use this pedal without any problems.  The pedal simply has four parameters - level, low, high, and distortion.  These are always the basic parameters found on overdrive and distortion pedals, so unless you are an absolute beginner I don't think you will need to study this one too hard or even look at a manual.


SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the Boss ML-2 Metal Core is sub par in my opinion.  While it does have a decent metal distortion, there is really only one sound that you can get with it.  Keep in mind that I'm not a huge fan of metal to begin with but tried out this pedal to see what types of tones I could get with it.  I've used the pedal with a Gibson SG and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb, so I think I'm getting a pretty accurate sound from this pedal.  If you are into metal and are looking to get a thick distortion sound for playing this type of music, I wouldn't pass this pedal by, but I can't say that I would recommend this pedal to anyone else based on the sound of it.


OVERALL OPINION

While this pedal is reasonably priced, the fact that I can really only get a single tone from the Boss ML-2 Metal Core makes it quite unappealing for me.  If you are trying to get a big metal sound, this pedal might do the trick for you but I would strongly encourage those interested to look into a variety of distortion pedals as there are a lot of them out there to choose from...
