Purchased from Effects Center in Paris on the advice of one of the vendors, this thing has changed my life! For use with a micro serious (style capacitor) for vocals, acoustic guitars. Rediscover the sound of your microphone! And especially what you save ... External noise are attenuated parasites, but above all the precision and the side "mat" of decision emerges and becomes completely malleable thereafter.

Well, I tested this weekend with an Oktava microphone, an sm58, sm57 and a rode nt-5. I tried all possible positions (even more than the kama-sutra) because I was doing a joy following the announced features of the machine but now .... The object is beautiful and is very "class", it's solid and he "throws" as they say ... The problem is that it serves no purpose except to "choke" the sound slightly. It does not isolate outside noise at all and its effectiveness is more psychological than anything else. In addition to the singers, it is not practical because no way to get a view of the desk with the texts (ok, it's a lesser evil, he has to learn his words by heart but good ...). The purpose of this stuff is anyway to have a thud ... and for that is missing (from my local reverb always present) and isolate outside noise ... and that right, it also missed .... on the other hand, he will "food" just the sound .... short, your sound is worse than nothing while keeping defects supposed to be eliminated ... You pay for less than before to be honest ... luckily I bought in a shop seriously (orbit in Brussels) that non-judgmental about the craft has agreed to take me hat ... them for their professionalism .. .. This is not the case here, which offers Electronic SE scam of the year ... Dej I register multiple times with a cab and I have the feeling of having the same quality recording with Logic.
The only drawback is the weight, it is preferable to fix the mast.
I urge the Reflexion those who do not possde good sound insulation.

OVERALL OPINION

T prt me to do some tests (so I have not bought and I am a single user). Frankly, I find the view a little STRID! Of course, if you have a dj booth this product does nothing. I would take a plutt as an effective alternative for those who do not. The sound is certainly dull but if you play on the distance from the microphone / reflector, you get about the results surprising, particularly in a difficult (pice trsrflchissante ...).

I've had three weeks.
I think it's pretty even qd.
Yes, it's not a "living" like a real good studio treated with a mixture of absorbent and reflective materials soignesement but chosen by correcting the equ a slight coloration in the low-medium (which gives an otherwise dull color ) and by a good reverb, it works.

Me anyway I'm pretty happy, I have a piece that is neither the basis nor very yucky and acoustically, the result is qd even cleaner with the RF: in getting rid of natural reverb, but not very musical in my piece and replacing it with a reverb plugin but good quality and also corresponding to the specific need of the song I get better results.

Attention to the mic: you must already have a very tough (I have a standard and I basically put the dumbbell weight as a counter) and then it just enough for a singer of my size (1m78), I do not see how great ... be a p-foot micro ... more food for thought.

Otherwise, tip I read in a magazine: in addition to RF, hang a sleeping bag or a sleeping bag or even the two superimposed behind the singer can get rid of more reflections.

OVERALL OPINION

As described in other posts, this is not the Systm to isolate the microphone from the collection's outdoor environment (computer fan noise for example) but to eliminate the rflexions of sound source (the singer, for example). The microphone will record the source so the reverb dpourvue cre by multiple rflexions on the walls of your pice.
We therefore rcupre a raw sound like reverb and tends to sound more enjoyable in gnral, the resulting sound may well fade stepfather. We must therefore add a reverb later than searching the raw sound.

Although I use this Systm only recently, I am honest about my hunger
- Systm n'amliore not the quality of noisy pice remains silent if the front (fan noise).
- To its cardioid microphone position is much more efficient

OVERALL OPINION

So just to say I absolutely does not notice ngatifs below. It's not a cab (thus effectively if the pice is noisy, a change only little), but if your just not pice top in terms of sound, then am improvement is more than clear. Taken straight, reverb 99% missing from the plug, clean bass and treble soft and clear. Of course it will not block environmental sounds. But his job announced it does well. Well I use it for a month. I borrowed the studio of my multimedia work (it's me who told them to try it ).

The goal for me was not to believe in magic or remove the external noise but only to cut as reflections and standing waves which contaminate other records of my voice (speaking voice or singing rock) in my basement vaulted Stone / home studio. OK this is a situation far from ideal.

But then, I tested the RF in all parts of my house. Its effect is not zero, far from it. But even with the microphone at the bottom of the filter, I still have too much room ambience. Even in the less reverberant room (most furnished). It is obvious in "speaking voice". Exactly a little natural reverb on the vocals, it bothers me a little less, but for dubbing his voice-over, the atmosphere is less unacceptable.
So it is not super effective in a context that would have anything but a "small problem of natural reverb. I do not know where you live but I have 5 pieces of different shapes and sizes + Bathroom and kitchen so I have a good panel.
on the other hand, so it colors the microphone. I did lots of testing, including keeping asymmetrically relative to the microphone. It can help to some voices, it is rather funny to see the effect that may be exploitable in some circumstances.

Then I did as much. I made myself a panel (PVC: less than ten euros at Casto) and I reached an Ikea duvet (bought 9.90 euros, well I made a mad also taking a duvet cover to 9.9 euros more ... wow investment). I put it behind the RF in the room the more problematic (the vaulted cellar so). And there I saw a big improvement.
I made a second following the advice of the trick posted here (mic stands, PVC crossbar in my duvet and held taut with forceps to paste). For a version with adjustable height. I put the microphone (behind the person speaking / singing). And there, the result is stunning. I still have the reverb but it is highly attenuated. This result without having dedicated cabin in my cellar was unexpected anyway. Do not dream.
If I spend my Rode NT2000 polarity in 8 (I tried a hypercardio), the result becomes a voice-operated. In Cardioid (because the NT2000 is good especially well in this position), the song is quite effective especially on a female voice not too serious.
Otherwise I accepted a position between cardio and 8.

I kept all my spoken voice recordings on the same text with the same voice noting all settings (polarity of the microphone placement relative to the voice, the RF position, position of the panels with duvets) and no need be a sound engineer confirmed to show the difference by switching between tracks.

The question is: Does the RF really useful to me? So I removed and I feel a difference but a difference of more color. The biggest mitigation reverb is therefore my quilts.
In short, I do not have a definite opinion on the subject. But for 200 euros, I can live without (besides I must yield). Well try to clone Thotho much cheaper. And frankly I'd like to see the difference with the PVB RealTraps.

Oh and for owners of Rode NT 200 (or another model with the same design) attention to the position. Because we have a real choice between the same place the microphone in rearmost position on the support of the FR is almost outside the area covered and in reverse, it is squarely at the bottom the Filter. This is because of the shape of the huge microphone boom. That's why the PVB, bigger with more space to place the microphone might be better.

I said that's my personal opinion in a not very favorable to the sound level. The guy who lent me the job is super happy with the result and validates the whole concept (he uses it for dubbing videos only). And it does not come from the microphone, he also uses a Rode NT2000 (to borrow the strength of mine, he bought one).

After, I must also try a speaking voice that is not as bad as mine. Because of course it has to play too. (I will complete my review if things change radically never something).

The SE Electronics Reflexion Filter is a recording accessory designed to block out sound around your microphone.  It only has value within the studio as it really has no use outside of the studio, unless however you are using it for recording on the go, which is one of the best qualities of this.  It is built quite sturdy and will last a while if it is treated well.


OVERALL OPINION

I've used the SE Electronics Reflexion Filter a bunch of times for recording both inside of a good room in a studio as well as in a room without any isolation or sound proofing.  While it can do good things in the studio, I think where this really makes its money is in rooms that aren't acoustically treated.  In both cases, it does a great job of blocking out noise and sound in a room that might not exactly be suited for recording in.  It is great for use on the go if you are looking to record things on the road or in your home studio or house.  This has gotten a lot of praise from home studio owners and engineers as a cheap and simple way to clean up your sound.  Most home studio owners probably don't have a great room that you can record in, and this helps to ease that burden a little bit by providing a cheap solution for isolating your microphone.  While it is probably suited best for recording vocals, it will work okay for recording just about anything that you want to get a clean and up close sound with.  While the price isn't dirt cheap, it is definitely really cheap when compared to other treatment options.  All in all, the SE Electronics Reflexion Filter is a great product that will serve a lot of home studio owners really well.
