Boss SL-20 Slicer
The Boss SL-20 Slicer is a somewhat unique and definitely unique pedal for use with electric guitar and other electric instruments. The name doesn’t give away too much, but essentially it’s a pedal that chops your sound and turns it into kind of a percussive groove. If you’re seriously interested in the pedal, check out some videos as hearing it for yourself will do better than any description. The pedal is the dual foot switch design rather than the compact pedals that most Boss pedals are. It’s got ¼” connections for inputs and stereo outputs, while it’s powered up by a nine volt power supply (or batteries). It’s not a rack mountable piece of gear.

Using the pedal isn’t too hard, but there’s a ton that can be achieved with it, so there is in turn a lot to know about. I’ve really only scratched the surface when it comes to the SL-20 as I’ve only used limitedly since I don’t own it. I haven’t delved into everything the pedal has to offer, but it’s got 50 different slice patterns with a tap tempo option, looping, and all sorts of effects. You can also do a great deal with panning with the pedal. A manual might be a good idea for new users, but I haven’t seen it so I don’t know how well put together it is.

The sounds possible with the Boss SL-20 Slicer are definitely unlike that you’ll find on many pedals out there. In fact, I can’t really think of any other pedals that can do quite what this one does. It’s a really fun pedal to mess around with and I think if you owned one, you’d be using it in a lot of songs since it can really add a lot. For me, it’s not the kind of effect I’d be using very often at all, but it’s certainly cool to have around in the studio.

The Boss SL-20 Slicer is a pretty awesome pedal overall. It’s not the most practical effect for me, but I can definitely see how players would get a lot of mileage from it. It’s not very cheap since it’s one of these larger Boss pedals, but it’s still not too expensive and it’s built incredibly well, as is the case with all Boss pedals. I’d recommend checking out the SL-20 since it’s a unique and interesting effect, but I don’t think most people are going to be needing it very often and therefore probably won’t need to buy it, but it’s a very cool effect to have around in the studio at least.

Previous reviews are complete enough ...

could not be more simple to use, clear and concise manual.

on this point I only takes 6/10 just because there is no backup system to remember your preferred settings.

boss had a little abused by proposing only four submissions on gigadelay there, y 'have not.

the effect is super effective as long as it is useful.

for realism, well then, the adjective is absolutely not suitable and it is anyway not what you asked ...

for the moment I do not use with the guitar (in sync noon with a bar dr-880 or Kaossilator Pro) but then I'll pass everything and anything in it (especially synths and exotic instruments tutti quanti), be it for experimentation.

as specified in the manual sl-20 responds admirably to the modulation effect,
and not as stated in the manual with a delay front and one behind the possibilities are multiplied by (and to be honest, but (2) delay is more than limited use for guitar).

bought a few days ago, we must recognize that this is not a pedal will match all guitarists (and very little has true mean).
the seller or the store I found even told me he did not understand the usefulness of such a pedal boss and he said it was completely missed ... hehe,
a guitarist nice but still.

To conclude, after a few days of use, I just already tell you that I do séparerais "NEVER"

Boss SL-20 Slicer
Effects of cutting in the manner of an arpeggiator on its fixed ... or "slicer" in english in the text ...
But not edit the type setting preset is provided enough and you end up finding what we want in terms of pace for cutting.
It is a model of type and pedal while it is in the category effect guitar, it's perfect for synths. This is purely digital. Connectors: 2x In 2x Audio in and Out MIDI: 1x In for sync. Nothing less, nothing more ...

The config is so easy. The manual ... I did not even read to begin ... We come to find what one seeks in fiddling and testing the different presets. on the other hand, it only makes slicing ...

This is very efficient, very responsive and it 's really not made to be realistic. I use it with synths that are not equipped with arpeggiators or sequencers (including Roland JD 800).

I have gained here is one month for 100 € FDP not included. I tried many things before (always with Roland), the effects of EF303, the SP555. I had heard of the slice on Electribes Korg but I have not tried. The friendliest of this model is the ability to play on the attack and the length of the pulse (the opening of the filter ...).
Excellent value, especially in Cygnus' Yes, I make this choice without hesitation. However, it should want to do exactly that because this pedal does just that!

Boss SL-20 Slicer
Effect but not editable digital slicer used in midi / slave
Fomat double Boss, what's solid ...

Simple configuration,
In terms of knobs:

overall volume
volume effect
setup the type of output signal (mono/stéréo/3D/pan ...)
knob to select the bank from some fifty different patterns
a knob patterns
a tempo knob which flashes beautifully in your pedalboard
a duty knob to adjust the length of the pattern
one knob for the attack to Attack of the effect
is complete, intuitive editing sounds and a manual that will be used primarily to control some parameters as the parameters of the retrigger mode (for use in the Midi)

Indeed effective and original, ultra creative ...
used with my guitars, but can be used with synthesizers and more ...
The pedal provides a looper mode that I thought most complete, excluding one can only loop the effect of the part you just played, it's just made with the purpose slicer is completed, it a little disappointing at this level, at the same time Boss was not released in the SL 20, an RC 2!

I have since early August, I can not get enough
I love the fact Slice, I find the effect ultra-creative, I do not like the looper function, unnecessary as incomplete ...
I have not tried other models because few share the AdrenaLinn competitor who has a similar effect ...
Suitable value is the boss so it's still not cheap but the quality is by appointment.
I do it again this choice because it easily became my main purpose to create ...
