Line 6 Spider IV 150

Let me start by saying how much I loath solid state amps and how much I can't stand amp modeling. This amp continues to give me very little doubt about the amp modeling world. Line 6 are definetly the leaders in the amp modeling world but to be honest most of their tones from the recreated amps just don't sound very good.

I am a fan of Line 6 and by no means is this review out of anything against them but these amps are just garbage. This amp is rated at 150 watts, which is a really loud amplifier and 150 watts of poor sterile tone. Nothing that I have heard from Line 6 as far as amps sounds has ever sounded good to my ears.

SOUNDS

This is just a waste in my opinion. I like the way their effects sound and the way that their software is set up much like a real guitar rig, but the distortions and amp models are horrible! To me it doesn't matter what guitar you use with this thing it is going to sound nothing like the amps they are trying to recreate. If you must lay this amp then I would play it with a Gibson Les Paul or something with mahogany for the wood. Something dark and bold that will give some thickness to the tone of this amp.

The amp sounds thin and sterile much like a stomp box overdrive or distortion pedal would sounld like. You can hear and feel the digital process in the tone. This amp has no soul and no tone what so ever. It is a complete waste of resources.

OVERALL OPINION

If you want a mp modeler that has effects built in as well then go with one of the other Line 6 amps that Reinhold Bogner helped out with. They actually have a good usable distortion tone. NO wonder they went out an found a pro to do the dirty channels.

At new these amps come in at around $500. A bit steep for a trash sounding amplifier. I wouldn't recommend this amp to anyone. It doesn't sound good and you won't get anyone worth his salt to record it.

UTILIZATION

in terms of configuration I have rarely seen an amp with which it has such a good sound without breaking the head with the settings.

SOUNDS

This amp is perfect for my main style (the tendency to extreme metal) with respect to the metal distos typed one can easily obtain the dual to the correct (without the breath that goes with being posseseur of that I know what I speaking) is a fan of distortions bourrines sharp and I am served.
One can easily move from one round and warm distortion to a sound and a stone cold precision SURGICAL.

Sounds clean:
what to say except that cleans the sounds are great too, it's going to sound crystal clean and well rounded.

Basically this amp suitable for all uses

OVERALL OPINION

j uses this amp for almost three years before this one I played on the mesa peavey marshall and the other randall. And I don t even want to touch my mesa.

Most:
user-friendly
versatile
excellent value for money for this amp rivals from other brands that are worth much more expensive.

Cons:
to take advantage of the possibilities of this amp it is necessary to update the models of the latter by investing in a FBV mkII (express or shortboard) and complete the necessary formalities on the line6 site.

After thinking was if c I choose to repeat again this amp, I even considered to acquire the spider valve mkII is a mix of modeling and all-tube amps.

UTILIZATION

The configuration can be made on the amp or via a PC thanks to the software Line 6 FBV Express with pdalier. The range of sounds is very big.

SOUNDS

In my case, I'm doing it and nag mtal Plutt well suited. With regard to other styles, I'm not sure, but given the numbers of rglages and simulations, I think the possibilities are very important. I played with a Cort and Di Marzio Evolution pickups and sends a sec.
Regarding power, (150W, 2x12 "), there really is plenty to do. In our group, we play very hard and I play 3 full.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had four months and I am very satisfied. I think you type in the high-end amps lamps for better, anyway, for mtal Bourin.
