I have a Gibson SG Reissue, I wanted to buy an Epiphone copy to play with in places or Gibson might take a bad shot. No problem so I can compare the two. Visually from the head Epiphone guitar two are virtually identical (trslgeres some variations in cutting wood) except that my gibson is cherry.

USE

- The handle! rside one of the two big problems I got this guitar: the handle is too heavy. For the original report in the neck gibson is much larger, round and heavy as the corp is much lighter. Result: the head leans forward to trsdsagrable fawn. It is true that this is also the case of the Gibson SG but much less than the Epiphone.
- Accs acute: no problem, it is an SG.
- The poind the corp is far too slight, it looks like it is hollow !!!
- The problem is SECOND microphones, they really lack punch. No depth.

SONORITS

- We can play what we want with but the sound is not great when seeking the big sound.
- I utilsi with this guitar multi-effect of ME5 at BOSS and JCM 800 2 body.

NOTICE GLOBAL

- I had bought a year ago and sold since.
- I detest the form and handle weight and thus its dsiquilibre.
- I could compare with the original SG
- The price quality ratio is average
- I sold this guitar because I regretted my choice. I bought this guitar on the net and I could not try it before. It's a shame because she was very beautiful. I possde a Les Paul Epiphone Santard home which I'm rather satisfied, I do not understand why they have not taken a little more care the realization of this model.

UTILIZATION

Yes the handle is very nice although it actually has a nasty tendency to nose dive (the replacement cache pots in plastic plate metal house should solve part of the problem I think) seems the frets of the correct quality and varnish for now I have no problems ... I have a Gibson SG Special 88 and the handle is frankly very similar ..
Aesthetic level the key is not bad (Continued) and finishing more than correct in all ..

The sound is not that great I think .. microphones do not have a good definition above the Treble position or the feel of playing on a fuzz pedal is truly amazing (the rhythm is affected and is not very accurate I think) recess with the gibson sound is incomparable ... much warmer and sweet although very punchy!

SOUNDS

Its clear at low volume is pretty decent, I use this guitar mainly for work pieces .. so no worries! it is much less versatile than my strat us who excels in funk and rock with a typical round fender well!

OVERALL OPINION

The price is not bad frankly especially in my case it was like new predecessor had not even removed the plastic cover on the pickguard +!
Aside from the sound (I have long two humbuckers DiMarzio guitar that will change dramatically ...)

I started playing in the late 1960's with various blues bands, and although I don't make a living from music, but I still play blues lead occasionally. These days I find my musical listening divided between old Blues and classical. I don't have much time for new rock bands; rock is the music of my generation and I can't be bothered with the weak imitations perpetrated by current children. They should invent a musical genre of their own. They are so devoid of ideas that most "new" music seems to be based on a Bonham drum beat.

I bought my Epiphone in London's Charing Cross Road - guitar heaven - for just under £250. Prices seemed to be quite variable in the various shops, and the option of Epiphone and Gibson pickups seemed to be the main determining factor. I chose the cheaper Epiphone option - my reasons follow later.

I love the finish of this guitar. It is vastly superior to a current Gibson SG. Epiphone still seem to care, while Gibson have become arrogant. The machine heads operate very smoothly, and the nut has an internal finish that allows you to tune down to a note almost as reliably as up.

I had to do quite a lot of adjustment to the neck when I got the guitar, particularly the truss rod. Relief actually went the wrong way! And the pickups were a disaster (but I knew that), but they were very quickly replaced by a pair of Seymour Duncans and I now have a sound far better than a standard Gibson.

My pickup choice was the SH2 Jazz at the neck and SH1 59 at the bridge. Between them they provide a huge range of tone, and never sound less than brilliant.

Construction is solid. Everything just fits together so well and it stays in perfect tune for days on end.

If you want a Gibson SG, think again. Buy the Epiphone, change the pickups and enjoy a vastly better guitar. Then buy a nice amp and a second guitar with the savings.

I mostly play rockin all it's forms. I'm not in a band but I jam with a lot of different people.

I bought this guitar from music123.com for $350 because I needed a better guitar than the beginner guitar that I had.

It plays wonderfully. I can't really tell a difference between this guitar and the gibsons. It's really light which is good if your playing for long periods of time. It also sounds wonderful through an amp.

Since the guitar is so light the weight of the headstock causes the neck to point down whenever you let go of the neck, so that's pretty annoying. The major problem eith this guitar is the input jack is right on the front of the body and it's really weak right there. My friend was playing it and he stepped on the cable and jarred the guitar and it cracked the guitar and it has become so bad now that I have to buy a new guitar.

It seems to be pretty good except for the problem I mentioned above.

I wouldn't risk buying this guitar if I were you. I would reccomend saving up a little extra money and buying a les paul. Les Pauls are a lot sturdier.

I recieved this guitar at a place called guitar center in Arizona. I payed about four hundred (400) dollars for this item.

I like the SG because of the finger room at the bottom to reach the higher frets easier. I also like the trapazoid frets and that the guitar is really light.

i think that its a good guitar all in all and there isn't anything i can think of off the top of my head that i dont liek about it.

It is mad eof two peices adn is alot like the gibson form of it only epiphone.

I like the guitar.

I bought this slice of heaven on ebay one night while cruising the net. I had been looking for a new guitar and had played one of these beauties, so when I saw it I just had to have it. It cost me $400 Australian.

Everything! Absolutely everything. The set in neck is a slam for rocking out those big solo's, fast or slow it does them all! The tuning on this guitar is excellent, I've never had a guitar that stayed in tune for so long(3-4 days!). The action on this guitar is excellent, it makes me forget that it isn't a real Gibson when I play it. The tonal quality of this guitar is excellent producing a wonderful phat sound, from distortion to clean it all works great. The Gibson humbuckers are the best but what can you expect? They are Gibson after all.

The guitar apart from all its shine is nigh on the heavy side, but this can be solved with a comfortable strap.

The quality seems good. I've had no trouble whatsoever with the pickup selector, and the frets seem to have a long life in them!

For the price this guitar is probably the best buy you will find anywhere, whether you're a rocker or a heavy meatal player or a punk player it all works great. It seems quite similar in sound to the Gibson but with i quarter the price its a must buy!!!

I bought this guitar at WorldMusicSupply.com for $399.00 which included a free hardshell case.

I was looking for a guitar that looked and sounded like Angus Young's SG, and this one was the closest one I could get since I was on a budget and couldn't afford the Gibson Angus Young Signature Addition. IT was between this and a Les Paul, which I had both tried before and I was looking more for a rough vintage sounding guitar that didn't weigh as much as the Les Paul. This was the perfect alternative.

The cherry red was definetely the better color choice. The roseboard neck looks aged and matches perfectly with the body to give it a vintage look. A+ for the woodwork and gloss finish. Every chance that I get I play this guitar. AC/DC riffs sound great despite the lower-end humbucker pickups. And by lower-end I don't mean that they're bad at all, they're awesome for the price. This guitar is just as good as a Gibson, and comes with a lifetime limited warranty. The action is great and you can change it with the adjustable Tune-O-Matic Bridge. It really is what it's called, a tough rocking solid guitar.

I only had a few problems with some minor buzzing on the first and second frets on the lower E and A strings, but they were easily adjusted. Other than that, I changed out the standard pickups and replaced them with an 57' Humbucker Classic and an Angus Young Signature Humbucker just to get that AC/DC sound. The standard Humbuckers just weren't giving me the right sound, but that's my only complaint about them, it just depends on the sound you want. The guitar also seems to go out of tune more often then my Fender Strat, but that's probably because I just play it more and harder. I have very few complaints about this guitar.

Excellent wooden contruction with a great gloss finish. The rosewood fretboard is made to look vintage so that adds a special touch. Only minor touch-ups would be needed to bring it up to Gibson standards. The tuners and switch work great so far, no loose parts or anything.

The bottom line is, this is great if you're on a budget and if you want a solid guitar that has a hard rock tone. My only suggestion is to upgrade you're pickups to the 57 classic and Angus Young signature like I did, and then you'll have a guitar that's still half the price of the Gibson Angus Young Signature SG, and sounds just like it. I would rate it a 4.5 out of 5 just for minor details missed and lower-end pickups.

I bought the guitar in Keymusicshop Belgium and paid 400 Euro for it

I especially like the guitar because of the great sound and looks it carries with him. Its a perfect replica of the gibson sg. I've got the cherry version. It sounds great and you can play all sorts of musicstyles with it. I also find it cool that the jack goes in the front in stead of on the side like with my old guitar. Also the 2 volume and tone controls come in handy.

There's not so much that i dislike. But when you let go of the guitar and it hangs only on the strap the neck tends to point to the ground.

The construction is very good and the guitar can take a fall or so. Looks just like the gibson

It's in my oppinion one of the best guitars if not the best guitar you can buy for this price. It's beautifull, plays great, feels unbreakable,... On this moment this is the best guitar in my collection!!

At Long & Mcquade in Toronto, for $390 CDN (around $300 USD).

First and foremost, it looks kickass (SGs are MADE to come in 'Cherry Red' and you know it!). Second, the tone on the 'Treble' mode is just amazing. The neck also feels great to play. Also, the latest version of this guitar features grover tuners, which are just great, at least compared to the ugly green ones of yesteryear.

Well, a problem with all the Gibsons/Epiphones is the balancing of the guitar. With a heavy headstock, and the strap button behind the guitar, the head tends to point toward you're feet. so A) get a nice, thick strap, B) Hang it low if u like, and play it close to upright, or C)Well I assume you'll be holding it with your left hand anyways, so y'know. Also, and this is just personal taste mind you, the 'Rhythm' option just gives a too heavy, deep, bassy, muffled tone. But thats just me.

Built like a rock. Treat it like a guitar, and not a skateboard, and you'll be happy for years to come. I do however recommend buying a little bottle of guitar polish, as every smudge shows nicely.

Great guitar, I'm happy, but you may want to try before buying.

i bought it at a local guitar store and payed about 500$

this is a great guitar for the price. mine is the cherry red finish and besides being a very beautiful guitar it is also one very versatile instrument.

i have had it for two months now and havent found anything that i really dislike, many of the reviews i have read mention poor tuning stability, but with new tuners i think epiphone solved this problem.

this is one sturdy guitar. you won't get the lp shoulder but it is definently close. not a guitar you expect to break and for a chinese produced unit the paint job is exceptional

I bought this guitar through musicians friend for $350.00. I bought it because I needed something better than my old beginner guitar.

Everything. It plays wonderfully, it looks incredible. It puts out a nice sound also. I've played Gibson guitars and I can't really tell that much af a difference in playability between the G-400 and other Gibson guitars. This guitar can be used for any style you want. I play a lot of classic rock and it works great for that, but you can also sounds great for metal and heavier stuff and it works great for softer mellow stuff also. The tone and volume controls for each pickup are great. It adds a ton of versatility in your music. The trapazoid inlays add a great look to a great guitar.

It's too cool.

No problems so far. It seems to be built pretty solid. The set neck joint is really nice.

If you need a great guitar for a great price, I would strongly reccomend this guitar. Whatever level of guitarist you are, this guitar does it all, from bustin' out solos to laying down smooth rythm tracks. Buy it, you wont regret it.

I got his guitar for chrimbo 2 years ago and I think it was £329.99 but i'm not certain. I got it from Simpsons Guitars And Things in Edinbrugh and I got it because I was getting bored of my classical guitar and wanted a electric.

There are loads of things I like about my guitar. The first thing is the way it looks. SG shape is a classic shape that i love. I also like that way it sounds. It sounds quite gritty with distortion but sounds mellow and peacefull without. I love my humbuckers aswell :P

What I dont like about it is that its a copy of a gibson. This isnt a problem if your wanting to buy the guitar, its just my preferance. Also, I dont like the sall scrtach plate. I prefer the larger one that covers more of the guitar.

Good construction. Good quality although strings often buzz.

Good beginner guitar! My first electric guitar and I love it. A good value for money buy.

This G-400 was purchased through Musician's Friend Catalog. I called MF up, they sent the guitar to me and I was playing it by the end of the week. I got this guitar because I wanted a change of style from the Lotus Stratocastor style I was playing at the time. I really liked the agressive "devil horns" or "flame topped" guitar but I couldn't afford a Gibson so i figured I would give this a try. I paid about $450 for it.

I love the styling of the body. It is aggressive yet classic. It has a nice "Fuzzy" sound to it. It carries the nice name of Epiphone made BY Gibson. The red just adds to the majesty of the guitar. The way its got the double cut out allows me to reach all 22 frets effortlessly.

The fret board is different, not really bad, but different because its wide unlike a strat's fret board. The g-400 is more of a back up guitar than a lead guitar.

It's modeled after the 1962 Gibson SG I believe. It's a solid bodied guitar made of Mahogany. It has two covered pick ups that is controled by two seperate volume and two seperate tone knobs. Its no Gibson, but one would have a difficult time telling the difference.

This is a great "bang for the buck" guitar. I would highly recommend this guitar. It has killer tone and can make many bad amps sound nice. It's way easy to play on.

I did not buy this guitar but my cousin did. He paid $360 at Daddys Junky Music in Boston MA. He loves SG's being the reason why he bought it.

I have played it several times.it sounds great on distortion high or low. The clean tone is even better. You can hear each and every note clear The pickups are great. All frets are easy to reach because of how far back the cutaways are. This is great for solos and any chords. This guitar looks plain awesome. It is put together in the U.S.A. as it says on the back of the headstock also but made overseas but thats no big deal because the labor costs are cheaper making you pay less for an awesome guitar. I recomend the red color but its about what you like.

the only thing i dont like about this is that the strap button isnt on the end of the cutaway but on the back of the body where the screws would be if it had a bolt on neck. This makes it unbalanced so if you are wearing it on the strap the guitar leans forward and the neck end goes down to the floor.

The construction is nice. There hasnt been any changes made to this guitar yet. i.e. nothing has had to be tightened it is very well put together. I havent played a Gibson S.G. but im sure this must come pretty close to the quality.

All in all this is not just great for the price its great for any price they could give it. This is a real quality instrument at an awesome price. I would have to say if your going to get a guitar and you like to play any or every kind of music get this guitar because of its great tone and looks.
