Here we are there ... I use my Gibson SG for 11 years now. I had the opportunity, through groups, studios, concerts, oxen, to test all kinds of guitars on all kinds of configs. And frankly, the SG Standard's my opinion one of the best guitars that can exist. She accuracy of all and deep. It is lightweight and pleasant to play. She is beautiful and indmodable. It is perfect. USE

Super enjoyable to play a hell of access to acute (sg requires). the weight nickel is much less onerous than a les paul, without being mild as a feather.

I for 1 month, and I would do without this choice hsiter. the price seems excif, but it's a little kid dream. flambs prices in recent years. I have bought a gibson les paul 1995 5300 francs (about 800 Euros) new at the time, now the standard SG is at the same price as a studio around 1200 euros ...... music is expensive too expensive and not necessarily a hand port of everyone.
Apart from that this guitar is really a super shovel. we often hear that there is not that gibson, I agree, but good when even.

UTILIZATION

- The handle although it is more impressive than a strat is very nice and is great in hand, shred plans are very possible for the most talented.

-The interface is excellent, the guitar is very light and profile C can navigate well on the handle without anything coming gener our progress. A downside, however about the game seated, the handle tends to nosedive.

- Access to acute is optimal, is is disconcerting.

- It is easy to get a good sound but a lot depends on your config as a bad amp with bad effects = bad sound (regardless of whether the guitar is 100 or 2000 euros)

SOUNDS

- This guitar suits my style: Alternative Rock, guitar itself has a lot of medium, more than treble to me (this problem does not necessarily have can be solved by setting the tone and the trebble your amp max)
However this is a much more versatile guitar you might think, you just tame, play on the guitar tones from the amp ... You can play with almost all pop, blues, hard rock, jazz, grunge, punk ... except sounds too extreme or too slamming (strat / tele style)

I use it for a me now, this is my first real guitar after a Squier Stratocaster, suddenly the comparison did not even place to be ^ ^.
However, I have not try a lot of other guitars among friends and in stores (U.S. Strat, Jaguar, gibson les paul studio, Prs Custom 24 With ...) The strat remains my favorite guitar model but a short head, because whatever the level of finishes or its SG buries most of the guitars that I've experienced.
The feature I like most is that optimal access to acute and very light body, I am less a fan of the neck pickup but that's pretty subjective.
I remake this choice a thousand times, I could not find better value for money level (buy 700 euros with lots of accessories to a guy who does not play guitar)

UTILIZATION

Handle this well, we feel good, but still very fun to play. Access to treble is excellent. The knobs are too close to each other, so that it can play a little tricky if you are not used and that has shaped fingers socks (this is not my case).
Bcp complain Mecha Gibson tulip, for my part I do not have to complain about my guitar that has been 10 years (I can bcp chance but I do not have either on my pbs Another Gibson ...)
Nitro lacquer very comfortable, it provides good vibration of the guitar that makes the q'on feels good.
The guitar is just even in very low tuning (I play in A). Even a PRS custom 22 I owned had more trouble with this kind of tuning (it's still a great guitar still a PRS).
Always such a gibson to set the jumpers: it's effective. The same for the adjustment of the handle. The pickups? is simple: two screws each for height adjustment and a screw rope and microwave for finer adjustments. In short, we can adjust as we REALLY want.
No definitely not much to say about it. I'll put 9 knobs even if me they fit me just fine.

SOUNDS

Personally I think this guitar can suit any type of music, but good if you prefer to play funky casseroles nothing will ever replace a strat.
I play, blues rock, hard, metal, metal very large and sometimes looking for jazzy sounds. Everything goes without needing to do this concession! Never found such a versatile guitar. After fau love the character of this guitar because it is very (VERY VERY) present. The sound is generally quite bold but against very accurate. Well complex or sensitive agreements, which sometimes come evil big distortion, are super articulated: all notes agree. Arpeggios distortion out very well.
In clean sound is very rich with a very large dynamic range (it's not good either single coil huh!). We're doing great things in clean with this guitar, it sounds not dry for a penny but it's not as long as it is boiled. No, no sound is still beautifully balanced (as long as its microphones is adjusted as desired)

The rest is very subjective (hence my 10) but I've played and owned a lot of guitars (jackson USA and Japan, USA PRS, Fender USA and Mexico, Ibanez Japan Korea Philippine Whale Kore, BC Rich China / NJ, Kore Epiphone, ESP Japan, Kore LTD, Schecter, ...) And frankly many were great guitars, but I can not help with this guitar (a very recent purchase) I finally found exactly what I was looking for.

Contrary to what one might think cete grate rather recommended for rock / hard is super comfortable in the clean and crunch, and tears all about extreme distos (I sometimes play stuff like Nevermore, Cannibal Corpse, etc ...)

After this purchase I will probably keep more than one, the Fender USA and Mexico, and probably buy me one for a more civilized tuning ^ ^

OVERALL OPINION

For me (but beware this is very subjective) this is the best guitar I've ever played.

More objectively:
This is a guitre comfortable everywhere except perhaps for the slamming funk well (but at the same time learn to be comfortable for funk and jazz for such I do not know if you can find it). The sound is clear and rich with a nice character.
€ 850 for a secondhand guitar in new condition and ten years of age. The qualité-performance/prix report is IMHO unbeatable I put 10 without hesitation.

UTILIZATION

The handle is perfect (for my taste) and for those like me who do not support the weight of a Les Paul, this is a good compromise. Although talk of compromise for this guitar is not fair!

I got this guitar for my 20 years (I'm almost 43) and I still have it.

Great sound, easy to use and above all reliability.

This is a guitar that maintains a typed character and authentic, especially in saturation, where his aggressive side in the bridge position leads to a game muscled. Personally I only use very little the tone, but it is not unique to this guitar with me, or just slightly darker then the neck pickup for a clear and jazzy muted or saturation shrill to Robert Fripp. The SG has a particular and recognizable sound already when you play it unplugged, a kind of nervous attack and sustain of a particular definition in the mid frequencies. Having tried several clones, some Epiphone high-end, there is far from Gibson that I have seen this feature that I think is the basis for the sound identity of this model.

OVERALL OPINION

I had a SG long ago, his nervous side, from its propensity to feedback, the thickness and sharpness saturation I missed, so I opted to buy a new model and I do not regret it, although I do not know what it is current productions, and constants in terms of quality, at a time when large companies like Gibson and Fender have become multinationals run by soulless financial ... Remains a guitar must be tried before buying, the ideal is to be able to try several examples to compare ...
