Crate GT15
Published on 09/11/04 at 15:00I purchased the amp, along with an Ibanez guitar and all the trimmings for my daughter. It was her first guitar so this was meant as a starter setup to goof around with at home. We bought it at during a big sale at DC Music in Blaine, MN. We paid about $70.00 for it.
The Crate GT15 has all the basics laid out in a nice clean format. I loved that it featured a headphone jack as well as a CD input. For a beginning level amp that's great. There's also an output jack to link up with an external speaker. The extra money to get into the GTX15 with its effects features wasn't worth it to me.

I don't have any complaints at all. I've been reading about poor performance at higher volume settings, but even after watching School of Rock, my 12 year old daughter is not ready to max this amp out.
It's very well constructed and is nicely balanced to carry around. All the fittings, like corner bumpers and carrying handle seem to be road worthy. I like that the speaker is slightly angled up to better direct sound to the listner. At this level though, that's probably like having an air foil on a Volkswagon beetle.
Hey, it's a cool looking little amp with nice features and attention to detail! And it will serve my daughter nicely for years to come. If she turns into the next Avril L, I'll get her a bigger amp.
