T-Rex Engineering TremsterPublished on 07/21/09 at 20:46
The T-Rex Engineering Tremster is a tremolo and vibrato pedal that can be used with any electronic instrument, but is designed mostly for electric guitar.  It is an analog unit and has 1/4 inch connections.  It is powered by the power supply that comes with it and isn't rack mountable as it is a stomp box.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the T-Rex Engineering Tremster is quite easy to follow and it only took me a few minutes to get accustomed to the pedal.  It simply has three parameters - one for depth, one for speed, and one for volume.  There is also a button to choose the mode that allows you to switch between tremolo and vibrato.  I don't have the manual for the T-Rex...…

I don't have the manual for the T-Rex Engineering Tremster, so I can't say how helpful it is or not, but it is easy to use and one isn't needed if you don't already have it.

SOUND QUALITY

The tone heard from the T-Rex Engineering Tremster is quite clean and the array of tones that are possible with this pedal are pretty endless.  I usually use the pedal for recording with a Fender Strat and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb, so I get a pretty accurate idea of what the pedal actually sounds like, and while the effect doesn't sound as good as the vibrato on my Fender Twin Reverb amp, it pretty close and definitely provides a lot more options and sounds.  While I've heard better individual tremolo and vibrato pedals, it would be hard to find a pedal out there that has both types of effects on the same pedal that sounds this good.

OVERALL OPINION

I've only been using the T-Rex Engineering Tremster for a few months, but like all of the other T-Rex pedals that I have used, this pedal has grown on me quite quickly.  The only downfall of this pedal is that it is a bit pricey, but is still less expensive than most of the other T-Rex pedals, and if you are looking for a high quality tremolo and vibrato pedal in one, it is worth the price as it doesn't get much better than this.  Overall, the T-Rex Engineering Tremster is a top notch pedal that I would highly recommend checking out.

This is a tremolo pedal - and very good at that.

UTILIZATION

Very easy to use - rate and depth...pretty much trust your ears.

SOUND QUALITY

The Tremster sounds very reminiscent to the tremolo channel of an old Fender-Twin. You can choose between Sawtooth and a more softer tremolo sound. It has a lot of depth and doesn’t take away the presence of the sound.

OVERALL OPINION

It’s pretty expensive – but just perfect. I used to own a Fender Twin 71 and this pedal so far is the only thing that comes close. If you don’t have a tremolo on your amp and don’t want to miss one then this effect is perfect for you.…

Excellent vintage tremolo typed

Tremolo pedal, operates with 9v battery or external power supply such Boss.
One trick I like: the power jack, the input and output jacks are placed at the rear of the pedal, practice when you want to place it in a pedalboard.

UTILIZATION

Three control knobs: depth (depth effect), speed (velocity) and volume (very convenient to adjust the output level depending on the gear used and / or how it is used). Finally, there is a switch that is supposed to switch between tremolo to vibrato mode. This is a misnomer, it simply change the curve of vibrato. It is stronger and a little more ground when the switch is in position, and that's actually how I use most often today.

The tremolo is one of my favorite effects and I use it a lot. I own four different models in the range of price and I use the T-rex for nearly six years. So I think to give notice (approximately) illuminated.
Let us say right away, it satisfies me, it's very good stuff.
At first glance, you can do better, both in terms of price and in terms of versatility.
Frustrated by his lack of versatility precisely, I almost got rid of it, but it holds a candle to any other model in terms of sound and reliability.
The LED flashes at the speed selected modulation, current on most tremolos but still practical. It does not however very fast pulses as the Electro-Harmonix Pulsar example. Moreover, I also have a top model (Empress Tap Tremolo) which has ten times more versatility and allows incredible things well beyond what can the T-rex, which does not impact very "chopped" as found elsewhere.
No, the chosen field of Tremster is the vintage sound of authenticity. And there he is unbeatable. The sound is soft, while having a very nice color, it complies with the sound of the guitar. I often use it with a Les Paul but with a Stratocaster that sounds best to me. Most other tremolo sound "cold" in comparison. We console ourselves very quickly to its lack of versatility, since - logically requires vintage - it is confined to what was permitted a tremolo of the past. But how!
Also the housing is large and solid (I love the format of the T-rex) despite the extensive use I have never had a malfunction. A T-rex, it's still pricey, but worth its price. Spread the word!
Something unimportant but that bothers me a bit: it starts automatically as soon as you power up the unit.

If you simply want a classic tremolo without the need for a trick that allows special effects and / or excessive, there is no better.
Word of trémoliste seasoned!

Tremolo only in two modes: sinuosidal (sweet) or square wave (I do not know how they say, in short, drier)

SOUND QUALITY

I tried several before (I have a multi-effects including jou Boss, not comparable!) And it DEFINITIONS tap me in the eye and ear. Much more body and sensitivity. Its red color on my rack is no more dsagrable.

OVERALL OPINION

3 months of use. I like its color (visual and audible ;-), and its simplicity. Not regret the purchase. Mainenti, Mariachi be less than or playing covers of Nancy Sinatra, this remains a PDAL I think it uses from time to time on a piece or to add another color. In this case, it surpasses what I test before.
