All user reviews for the Art Tube MP Studio V3

After having recorded several songs with the Art Tube MP Studio V3, I must say it is a pretty good little piece of equipment. It's audio limiting system works best when recording semi-hot signals. However, there are a couple of reasons I didn't give it 5 stars:

- The paint on the letters is prone to come off (slightly, only superficial, but still)

- It doesn't have a built-in on/off switch

The way it limits the signal is similar to an ultra-compressor, so it is important to be careful not to record too hot (otherwise the dynamics can be affected in a non desired manner). Still, it serves the purpose of a single channel (MONO) pre-amplifier very well.

I will probably be making a video review and uploading it into my blog.

Preamp format "DI", a lamp Chinese 12AX7 format different voicings controlled by a rotary switch, an input output (XLR or jack size for each of them), an input, an output, phantom power, a push-off phase, a 20db boost and roll youth! On paper it does in all cases. But the power supply 9 v can be scary, because we know that the lamp will not work as it would on GoldMike example.

UTILIZATION

We find quickly what you will, between limitation and simple préaplification. Chinese original lamp is rotten (along a preamp 50balles should not expect a mullard), I have changed to a lamp OUR sorted, and it's going much better since.

SOUND QUALITY

With my new lamp, it provides a perfect warm color to record low. To be brief, if you have a class A transistor preamp to your sound card, it will be a perfect companion for the home studio.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year or less, I like its small size, the DI side, its price after it's not worth a real tube preamp but it's a small effect, for once the lamp is not just marketing.

OVERALL OPINION

I used 6 months and release it to a change in the second lamp I think therefore I did not want her to open it and change lamps well this little device that has a 6 répéttes so damn release frankly do not advise you to buy value for money and no I'm not one to criticize evil (see my other review) but I can not give the above objective

Good for a first home studio

UTILIZATION

I plugged my bass directly into the preamp, the output of the XLR preamp in my sound card (M-audio fast track), and the output jack preamp into the input of my amp.

The sound was better than directly connecting the bass to the sound card.

SOUND QUALITY

The preamp fulfilled its role, which is for me to reduce my bass

OVERALL OPINION

My first reaction was to open (bye bye warranty!) To change the original lamp for the mesa boogie.
Well, the lamp replacement is not practical, sensitive and a sheet re-read both sides of the case. Suffice to say that in less than two years, the water was unsoldered. Here again, for strengthening is poverty.
I ended up giving it to a friend who had detected a fault other than the water, and I use the DI output of my amp head!

UTILIZATION

It's ultra easy to use, there's no 15 000 config!
A small BMOL at the explanation of the Variable Valve Voicing ... the explanations are quite large and it is unclear what exactly each position change ... it is necessary to test!
Otherwise a really gives a nice warmth to the sound (I use a Fostex VF160).

I havent done enough testing so ... but it brings a color depending on how Variable Valve Voicing chosen.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for one month and I will buy another!
I love all these Features and the sound but there are positions that do not change much!
I pay € 175 on Pigalle, the ratio quality / price is good enough, Art did a great stuff!

Prampli lamp with input and output jacks + XLR, SETTING THE gain and output level, gain boost of +20 db, since nitre-level output, LED cliping in between and a selector presets legalization (lgres).

UTILIZATION

I use it to plug my electric guitar on my computer.
I have a little to get galr SETTING THE Idaux levels between the gain, the output from the sound card, etc ... but we can not say whether complicated just plug and turn buttons.
The unit is quite heavy so it is well on the table, this is something that m'inquitait just seen the number of cables connected to the gizmo.

SOUND QUALITY

I find it fairly neutral. In my use (electric guitar), I find it leaves a little as it sends prs (with just the pramplification). The Difference diffrent positions show quite small, some are just saturate the previously well an rgl.
I am not as the creature did what I bought it pre-amplifies my guitar. But those looking to possibly variations in sound thanks to the selector will no doubt due, unless it is DIFFERENT on other types of sources.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had today, and I do not regret having bought. But as I have no other exprience on this type of product, I can not say whether it is better or worse than another, or if the price is justified.

UTILIZATION

SOUND QUALITY

I had three successive! (Changes by the vendor each of my rclamations): 1 creaked every 15 seconds, unusable RPET and home studio.
the 2nd cracked harder and every 5 seconds ...
the 3rd: everything worked except the Output, ds I turned knob (which ignores any slack from the input), I had the sound of the wind in "The Day after s ", to downright impossible to music has!

OVERALL OPINION

Try in the store before you make your interrested.
Especially do not like me, do not order it by mail (even if the seller took all bear the costs, even when I lost 1 1 / 2 months.)

Finally today I have a Samson C Valve (25 more) but it works well trs!

Microphone / instrument preamps with 12AX7 tube. So there is a classification error on Audiofanzine it is in the "transistor preamps" instead of "tube preamp".

SOUND QUALITY

For me it's perfect, I bought it for my guitar directly into live console, so do not use amp. I am a jazz guitarist and uses his very direct, I sought the grain typical of the lamp that gives a very unique attack to a jazz guitar sound, and warmth to the sound of all: desired result obtained. I occasionally try for the double bass and trumpet, other intruments of my current trio.

OVERALL OPINION

I am overwhelmed by my pre-amp that provides its exactly what it needs, nothing more nor less, it is very transparent and does not color the original sound, it is clear we are dealing with sound equipment pro, this is not for amateurs effects, I think of the guitarist who would be a competitor in this product to a particular pedal lamp: it is not the case at all, this is treatment Acoustic sound level, not its color or transformation.

I therefore strongly recommend it to jazz guitarist like me, I even tried from my guitar and my guitar amp, it also brings a lot in this configuration, I try for the double bass and trumpet in my trio, some it will bring a lot too.

I only takes 8 simply the absence of switch, and the impossibility of having a case / box worthy of the name, because we know that the lamps are fragile.
