Native Instruments Kontakt 1

This installed with no problems. Native Instruments has the software installation down to a science to be problem free, unlike some other audio companies. There is a large component that is a sample library, so expect your installation to take a long time while it copies over these gigabytes of data. After that you'll have to register your serial which is pretty simple and doesn't take long. There is a large manual on how to use the sample player properly along with some documentation on all of the patches as well. Overall I feel the manual is a bit patchy in its usefulness, but most things are covered well.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I have a custom built PC that is running Windows XP. It has a dual core processor by Intel with 4GB of RAM. For my DAW i'm using Cubase. Kontakt works without a hitch on my system after installing it in the VST format. Kontakt uses a good deal of system resources, so people with less powerful computers beware. Expect to have a shortage of RAM with all of these samples to load! The program is pretty stable, it doesn't crash often.

OVERALL OPINION

I have been using kontakt for years. You can find it in a lot of different studios that do any kind of arranging. Its best assets are the ease of use and the customization that you can do on the different patches. The sounds themselves are kind of hit or miss. Some of the string patches sound realistic, while others sound like total 80's cheesy strings. As for strings, I have had good luck by combining more than one patch playing the same arrangement and bussing them to one reverb to improve realism. There is of course way more than just strings in Kontakt, but that has just been my main use for it. It's a good value for the price considering the wide variety of patches you get and the nice interface. I would get it again.

This config is trs than enough for everyday use, more ending for a patch will give the possibility to read the samples directly to disk.

No problem of instability, says for now.

OVERALL OPINION

I have a soft short time since trs the WRITING of this, and I notice complterai later! But not safely, we can say that this app is a dj references.
The granular synthse brings a real plus. There are a lot of paramtre to change the sound, making it a hybrid synth and sampler.
Too bad the graphics a little prsentation Austr. Some CONTRL or they are not expected and there is only 3 sizes of window, without the possibility to resize the flight.
APRS various test Kontakt seem to really be IDAL to read and tamper with its sample banks. Notice any time it only reads the samples and offers no recording solution.
The price is what it is, CHRE is to say, about 350 Ers And as we achte dab in the license was a bit like paying for those that have no! Ers 250 for such a soft seems to me the psychological threshold! Or, there must be 10 CD sound instead of 5 but the guys at NI really good boss as boss and is worth encouraging.

Easy installation, no problem of incompatibility of PC with PIV. The manual is clear.
AIM I find a little more than CD sound ... Too bad!

Impcable operation of the software. Rponse trs short time. I work less than 5ms. I did not crash. It srieuse design.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several months. The edition is 100 times easier than with a sampler Hard (I have an ESI 4000). Think of all the same quality of sound dpend also and especially for your sound card. This is clearly a choice that I do it again without hsiter and I advise all. Native's work is about the trs pro dveloppement their software and we feel they conoivent products with users. A small repproche on the display: the aspet trs trs is not beautiful - but the case got it - but especially the opening of the windows of submenus is n is not always easy to navigate with the elevators.
The price is justified because the product is really good trs.

Installation is no problem, no conflict with the little bug qq rsolu 1.0 from 1.02.

2004 says: We are now version 1.5.3 still no bug when using, for bug against it sometimes when imports of big banks.

No problem for the performance, I made electronic music and my kits are easily in the ram, the absence of direct reading on the hard drive does not bother me. (Edit 2003: The DTD is available from the 1.2 ..)

it is a pleasure to be able to load the patch, add envelloppes, filters and other functions .. live and no crachottement or crash ... Programming on top! (I work on PC)

edit 2004: over the version and force the sampler does s'amliorer peus more dchirer. Everything is now possible there are ways for prvus acid loop, the rex, a Dtd mode, the module list became so long that it just needs the oscillators into a modular synth trs good.

I use it for 9 months, I tried a ESI2000, an RS7000 and MPC2000 (and are! Lol)

I particulirement the modular concept, the multimode filter, the low fi, envelloppes assignable everywhere ...

The report price is exellent quality, if there are samples of the cd is sold in 100 euro ben gnral the sampler is free .. ! (2004 edition: the samples provided are not so good on the other hand ..)

I do it again this choice with even more conviction today.
