Behringer Xenyx 2442FX

I’m not a huge audio buff, but I do enjoy being able to record my own music. When I first looked into a mixer I bought a small Behringer mixer thinking I wasn’t get that much because I only paid $80, but I was wrong. The mixer was great it lasted me for two years before I decided I wanted to make a real investment in a mixing board that I could record with and do live gigs with. I looked into getting a firewire or USB interface but everything was ridiculously expensive and I got minimal XLR inputs. I then decided maybe I should just get the bigger version of the great mixer I already had. I went through with it and made a real investment in it, but it was worth every penny. Not only did I get 10 XLR inputs but I received a whole bunch of other inputs for other things. When I read the manual I also saw that I got two things I was not aware of. In addition to the great mixer I got a USB interface to improve the recording quality but I also got a whole built-in panel of effects. I tried out the effects and they were decent but they do come in handy when I want to record my drums in a small room but make them sound like their in the biggest room I can imagine. The mixer gives you tons of options. Right now, I’m looking into purchasing a power amp replace my Live PA head with this piece of fine equipment. On top of the working functions of the mixer, it’s rack mountable! It’s great to be able to get a rack and just throw this thing on it. It really does make the whole using process easy. If you’re looking for something inexpensive but built with quality and unlimited features this is the mixer for you!

Well my opinion is not going to be objective may be: I only tried the gear rotted before except a numeric table from yamaha which I did not like the sound very well, but surely too neutral for my taste. I guess this is yet the best for working with sound. I pass the brief ub 1202 to the console. for me day and night. easy to use, the manual is not great but there is one. I have not found the 100 presets one by one described in the manual and I find that unfortunate. I still look the same on the site and if anyone knows it would suit me!

while in the headset and the sound, no breath. I had a time by touching a knob (but I do not know which). I will tell you later, this is the first console of this size that I use seriously, otherwise no effects with the headphone breath, gains pushed back. I personally find that the equalizer is not effective enough (not enough contrast in the settings) with microphones, but at the same time, the sound is "natural", and voices stood out well. I like it too much and ugly. then too should induce more larsens I presume, therefore there will be less to worry about it. good balance voice / guitar / piano with the console and my sound.

Another bad point but that does not bother me: thomann boasted compressors on the console, there is not one! but surprisingly, I have not been able to saturate the microphones despite this! it changed me for my 1202 that "saturated" to death and I thought it was my speakers! Like what each level of the sound is important.

OVERALL OPINION

I used it once and I'm glad, I'm able to run my projects with! I finally sufficient material for my duo with acoustic instruments, the sound of the instruments is respected, it is clear and accurate after a first successful test and adjustments not requiring tedious! (I finally managed to adjust the sound of my digital piano with sufficient quality to make live and this is the first time!) I was expecting less honestly seen descriptions of this table. I would do it without hesitation NIOHC considering the price and quality of the beast (which is enough for my use as I recall).

Thank you to behringer equipment to acceptable quality for an affordable price, that I saved my life!

Rackable, Complete connectivity, I have chosen the number of inputs XLR and especially its price.
I once had an Phonic MR2443 on a circuit L / Mono dropped after 4 years.
Correct quality for the brand that does not have the best reputations.

For my needs I would have preferred to choose the PRE or POST 4 aux sends.
Indeed, I need 4 for departures PRE conductor and returns nothing.

Return to 4 can be sent to the main output or headphone / control room. It is therefore the only one who can be heard separately, but in this case it disappears from the main mix.
Other aux returns can be heard as four at once!

For my needs I would have preferred to choose the PRE or POST 4 aux sends.
Indeed, I need at least four aux return for conducting and no effect.

It would have been desirable to send these returns in other auxiliary aux.

For my usage, would lack a signal present LED per channel.

The manual covers all series consoles XENIX and therefore some paragraphs deal with other models that the 2442FX. Bit annoying as this console is the most comprehensive of the series, we found it pretty well.

SOUNDS

The preamps are very much the point of view lack of breath and musicality.

As against the rest of the console adds breath when we open all channels.

The output level is +4 dB when the meter indicates 0dB. Its maximum level is 28 dB.

OVERALL OPINION

Console quite usable, live or record two tracks or 8 tracks.

In fact I bought this console as a complement to my main console Allen & Heath.
It has quite a few ways because it is rackée rack and on top of a board on wheels, including all permanently wired equipment: CD recorder, compressors, reverb, HF receivers, amplifiers and équalos facade équalo amp and returns, etc..

I therefore use this console XENIX 2442FX when I have to add sound to a battery with 7-8 microphones.

It is sufficient for this need, although the absence of a third and fourth aux PRE is annoying.

It's still a console economic and simplified.

Quality / price ratio excellent as usual with Behringer.

Warranty exchange during the first year, 2 year warranty + additional Thomann.de

For reliability: go to 5 years.
