OVERALL OPINION

it's been a while since I have. At the beginning I was programming fairly or so for emulating vintage sounds pretty basic, it is pretty well I think.
Then recently I started to program more complex and there is a world that offers me a lot of power in a very compact format, the 6 patches are super practical, the effects are effective . In short I really nothing to complain about. I guess it could be more robust (never had a problem even in the toting by repeating), but at this price you can not have everything.
I do not regret this purchase and would definitely recommend.

The Korg R3 Synthesizer is a small format that contains the synthesis engine of Radias more light of course but sending heavy.
To make a quick tour of the main characteristics, it has a keyboard 37 semi-weighted keys, Mono / Stereo XLR outputs, 2 outputs Peal / Switch, MIDI IN / OUT, a mic and line input, USB port and headphone jack. For general soundscape of R3, there is a lot to say and well. First the quality is bluffing and sounds are deep and striking it brief severe heat transmission and yet I have a lot of personal bikes and test a lot of stuff that gives immediately want to Register and grind.
The sound levels was this mix of Vintage (RHODES, BASS, PIANO ELEC) and electro (PADS, LEADS, MOTIONS, SE ...) really delicious ... and all this combined with the arpeggiator .. . brief even with 128 presets ... there you need where you need ... it's really usable and compos oriented JAZZ, SOUL, RNB, HIPHOP, HOUSE, TECHNO is really a plus and that ages beautifully.
My only disappointment is the abscence of acoustic piano ... I would have liked to hear this synthesis engine that I had a Korg Trinity and M50, I never found the fabulous acoustic pianos Korg compared to Yamaha for example ... but it would have been interesting.

Second closing ... Sounds scour and gives some personality to R3, also made famous by a certain Ryan Leslie! Please!

OVERALL OPINION

In the final R3 is the right way to give color and warmth and a little bit of nitro to your compositions without spending hours and hours with 45 knob to grind. This is great for someone who starts as easy to use, ideal to complement another keyboard or Workstation. I realize that this is a technical feat to have succeeded in giving a little Radias format and compact budget. I sold that to a disappointing Korg M50 récement, I realize that today's manufacturers do not offer this kind of quality product at such a price ... to blame the crisis! In any case it is an excellent value for money and I am convinced that the personality of the R3 concept and surely will return in a few spent decades in the pantheon of vintage synth ... Synthesis level.

This is a synth "analog modeling", it is multisynthesis and has a good vocoder. The synthetic possibilities are very friendly. The vocoder sounds good. on the other hand, there are no buttons "freeze" (to maintain a "aaaaaah" without having to shout loudly). As said elsewhere, it is limited polyphony Monophonic (or "bi timbral"). There is no digital output and analog output are not up especially in terms of shield (plastic case ...). So pay attention to its electromagnetic environment (computer stuff).

At the hardware level ... I'm sorry, but it's too "Mattel toy" for my taste.

Ah yes, the gooseneck microphone is unusable when you type on the keyboard it captures all the vibrations. A greenhouse micro head would be more suitable!

UTILIZATION

Usage is fairly simple and editing software supplied are more than correct.

SOUNDS

Not too bad for a Korg digital synth. The sounds are pretty good anti-aliased.

OVERALL OPINION

Sorry to say, it is a good synth in terms of synthesis, but in hardware ... Bontempi was even better.

The Korg R3 is a small and portable synthesizer that has a built in vocoder in it. It has a microphone input a front panel XLR input and a ¼ phone jack. There are also outputs for MIDI in out and thru, plus MONO right and left outputs and ¼ headphone outputs. There is also a place to put your foot switch or pedal. The Korg R3 runs by a CD adapter and only weighs 6 pounds. It is well built and very portable. For this keyboard to be so small, the keys feel very good and have nice response to them.

UTILIZATION

There are 2 oscillators plus a noise generator on the Korg R3. The first oscillator has 8 types of waves including pulse, triangle, sine, formant, noise, and a few others. The second oscillator has 4 types , saw tooth, square, sine and triangle.

SOUNDS

At first I could not decide which was better, the Access Virus Ti or the Korg R3. Too this day I still will say that the Access Virus Ti is better because I like the sounds more, but the Korg R3 is way more portable and has better feeling keys. It is also more user friendly than the Access Virus Ti.

OVERALL OPINION

I have been using the Korg R3 for 2 years and still use it a lot now. I do take this with me to other studios when we go there to record. I don’t even have a case for it I just put it in a extra bag that I have and it still has never broke or been damaged in any way. It is built like a tank and will last you a long time, not to mention give you some really great sounds to use in your music. Mess with the knobs and let the fun begin!

Well-known features, unnecessary to repeat them. We bitterly regret the keyboard and the plastic coating not sexy which gives it a bit like a game playschool (exaggerating a bit eh).

UTILIZATION

Very easy to use and well thought out. You navigate easily to a sound bank to another, from one setting to another, etc.. I started with this synthesizer here and it's very good to begin with.
The program pc / mac comes with is also very convenient, I am using him more than to program. Its interface is very clear and everything you could need, including the arpeggiator, effects, and the sequencer.
On the arpeggiator, I only regret that we have no more than 8 notes. But it's still usable of course, I do a bit of fuss there ...

SOUNDS

The R3 may be a bit of everything. As has been said, it is able to do bass and leads pêchus well. The keypads can also be very nice. I find however less efficient for tablecloths.
This synth is suitable for a lot of types of music, personally I am in the electro / new wave with a touch of industrial.
Some effects are good bills.
The factory sounds frankly do not shine on the other hand, they do not really pack me anyway even if not everything is disposable. And then you can always serve as the basis for another sound.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years / 3 and a half years.
I had tried before any synthesizer, it was my first, its price / quality ratio had attracted me.
With experience, I would opt instead for a MS2000, classier-sounding but relatively equivalent.
Note that I had a problem after two years: one audio output not working ...

There are pros and cons:
The R3 is not really able to properly emulate real analog (as opposed to an Alesis Micron). The filter is only average and sounds very digital and without heat, and this, especially in the acute and growing resonance. But it has personality and he's a very clean. The waveforms are beyond the capabilities of a traditional analog and yield sounds quite unique. The sequencer modulation is very effective and easy to implement, and routed to a training example, we can make a sound that speaks: "Oye ouoaaahhéé oyo" is very funny and creative.

OVERALL OPINION

I recently purchased and I still have to discover. Every time I turn it on, I'm having with it.
I also have a micron to the different personality of R3 and is complementary because the two machines do not sound at all in the same way.

The value for money is good but I got it secondhand in mint condition.
Compared to the micron, it is still much more expensive for a comparable overall quality.

The R3 is a Synthtiseur / Vocoder using synthse MMT (Multi Modeling Technology) of the RADIAS. It possde 128 sounds, they are accessible by the bank using a large front wheel to select the type of programs (such as the MicroKorg). - How long have you use it? 1 month since I sold my microKORG it really looks like, for me this synth is a good compromise between the slab and microKORG.

- What is the particular feature you like best and least? 49 keys seulemnt, more sounds have a more non ngligeable t but the possibilities of each edition of its offer thousands of possibilities!

- Have you tried many other models before acqurir? Not really, I have long used the deprecated microKORG which quickly became the face of R3

- How do you report qualitprix? At this price I think it's good trs (bought on thomann 667)

J'apprcie of Manir GNR sound korg & ale, and again I find the "big" sound. it can quickly rev sounds good bill, and presets can do 3 / 4 of kraftwerk discography (to locate ... ), so no, the sounds are not ralistes but the organs are nice ... this synth is not made to play the piano in any way!
effects are rich and modern (and even quantification down to the type 8-bit resolution ...), no aftertouch, finally good, I use for almost everything, but mostly synth leads, or sheets . The vocoder makes good too, but I do not use hardly any, at least not yet ...

OVERALL OPINION

Acquired in 2007 t of beginners, particularly the allocation j'apprcie all super fast (via the editor) controllers of what you want. I like particularly the sounds that can be made from shapes, it's very classy ...
This is a great synth with a look quite 80, but the korg. the material is solid, although it is largely plastic, and the scene, this keyboard is ideal to me, not too small nor too large, some controllers, and a damn good blood from her! yeah!

It is perfect, I made a few instrumentals of hip_hop and as now, the sounds of synth back in fashion, it's a rgale.
I also use it for its bass sounds very effective.

OVERALL OPINION

Used for 1 month.
The +: the clarity of sounds, many sounds and a precise fit with the buttons (style wheel)
The -: nothing except to quibble the size of the screen.

Quality / price ratio, great but little improvement.
The first time I saw him he was silent 650euros, j'hsitais with the Roland SH-201 much cheaper.
