I was looking for a sound card that allow me to very heavy grate several virtual instruments (rglage the buffer size for latency 0) + that allows me to conomiser investment of a table in concert + which has as a table DIFFERENT DIFFERENT returns for zicos. Only MOTU Traveller offers everything.

USE

I struggled to install, regarding the shift, they screwed up my mess of everything I've reconfigured and reinstall. This is the only BIG default of the Motu.
Furthermore firewire cable with wire did not work, while jumping all the time, I tried everything (dsinstallations, rinstallations ...) for 2 weeks before I realized that it was of the cable.
Otherwise, the computer may not recognize the card, you must restart it. But e possibility to do so without restart the computer.

Manuel very well but in English.
In a final implementation not terrible is that I put Pourcel 4.

IMPLEMENTATION

The drivers are stable, the maj intlchargeables are (for me anyway).
I use Cubase, BFD max and MachFive and the dream: with 4 MIDI tracks per sandstone Mach Five and BFD (software while both pretty hungry !!!) + 6 Instrument tracks, while This group qualis mix and compress with prmastering more: latencies: 15 and 30. ROYAL. To reduce the lantence working buffers (careful you need a computer that makes sense ...)

I use it for 6 months and I could not do without me is that I love my little beast.

While using the Motu Traveler I was able to get really good results when using it with my Power-book, I first started using the Traveler back in June of 2008 to be exact and used it all the way up till about the summer of 2010. The pre-amps are pretty solid and of good quality, you wont have any issues with them at all even if you push them to the limits they will still stay pretty quiet for you. The Motu Traveler can work as a standalone format converter as well. All of the features that I desired at the time seemed to be all part of the specs of the Motu Traveler and that was a big part of my decision to purchase the Traveler. I didn’t receive any updates for it during the 2 years that I was using it though. I am not sure why, because I have heard other people online talking about the updates. The size of the Traveler is compact enough that it can fit in your laptop bag or any standard size carrying bag. It is not a very big or bulky unit.


UTILIZATION

It is powered by your computer when you plug it up, or you can power it with a battery which I don’t recommend. You can record up to 192kHz and it has built in phantom power. I have used the Motu Traveler to record a lot of different instruments and vocals as well as using it to record a lot of sound effects that we generated out and about, which is one of the reasons that it came in handy being so portable like it is. We could just whip it out anywhere and record several things at one time.


GETTING STARTED

The manual is very easy to understand, I didn’t need to use it much. I just needed it for about the first 20 minutes after opening the box so I could get it up and running and a basic understanding of it. But all of the basic functions of the Traveler are easy to use and to understand.


OVERALL OPINION

For the price, you really can expect to get much more. Its portable, well built and works like a charm. You could just have this and probably keep it as your main interface no matter where you are and you would be satisfied. Sound quality is top notch, and so is Motu’s customer service just in case you need to speak with a representative.

CueMix DSP Console to a zero-latency direct monitoring, unlike all models of multiple input without DSP cards (very cheap! See the DSP RME) known. Power over cable IEEE 1394 (FireWire) or battery. OVERALL OPINION

Band recorded a live one week aprsl for purchasing, using the direct monitoring of 5 to 7 tracks, all bathed, sono gniale and easy.

I looked for an interface for my laptop on AudioFanzine.
I must say that the choice is not simple, because apparently, it depends on the make, model, processor, chipset, USB, Firewire, short, horror!

At first I was looking for cheaper interfaces (Edirol, EMU, ...), but if we add preamps, filters because of the breath, a Firewire interface, we quickly the price of the MOTU!

My goal is to work with my group live especially.

My laptop is a ASUS A6K with indescribable as chipsets (if more, dial the porable that it turns, it is bad!) Finally, AMD Sempron 3000 +, 512 ram, USB2 hard drive (c is VERY important).

UTILIZATION

No problem to install, can be two reboots, but by that ...

The config, well ... I have on my computer "fixed" a MOTU 2408mk2, so I feel "at home.

Question latency, no probs, I use a number of tracks "sufficient" for a real band AVRC effects on the slopes. I went down to 128 and 64. The only problem may be with SX3, when given to eat three tracks of drums loops at a tempo of 140 to 120, then we must go back to 1024 to no longer have audio clicks (which is not acidic want!).

I expect a lil Presonus Eureka, an RME OctaMic D (ADAT), the advantage with this sound card is that you can put everything on it, since it has all the necessary connections.

Traveler = nomad, it's true. It has very attractive characteristics: small, 4 mic preamp, phantom individual power supply road (by the FW, battery, AC adapter polarity without an accurate and extended voltage range), many inputs and outputs, short but good. .. Seems somewhat slightly built (-1)

OVERALL OPINION

Since December 2005.
The preamp sufficient to catch okay. From 3 / 4, long live the wind!
The ability to save settings preamps: on paper, it's great. But how m. .. in reality! With each save a preset, the preset said losing a dB settings preamps. If we do not immediately save the preset, the lower mouse click on any small function in the console CueMix the preamp return to their previous setting. It is frustrating when you do a live recording or in a hurry!
Swiss Army Knife to the side is nice. We can do many things with this card, but you have to expect some gnashing of teeth.
I had the 828mk2, I bartered against the Traveler.
I do not have that choice would do. I would go about Metric Halo, which is much more professional. The quality of the converters ausi leaves to be desired on the Traveler, when compared to other (Lucid, Tascam, ...) Some problems of the whistle 48v phantom power supply. I changed my MOTU Traveler, but I have a new worry about a preamp.

My usage: acoustic recordings (backing vocals, string ensemble, orchestra) and mixing in a amateur.
I needed more than 2 preamps with 48v power supply, something portable (no rack), and very good (between Motu and RME so) to connect to a Laptop (USB or FireWire). MIDI to VSTi, possible extensions for future preamps.

My config: a Dell Latitude 505 laptop, 40G0 5400tr HDD, 512 MB Ram with a PCMCIA Firewire card unbranded! A desktop PC PIV 2.8Ghz, 512 Ram all in XP Pro.
Micro: a pair of Oktava MK-012, a Studio Project B3
Listens: Sony MDR CD1000, Monitors house (in kit with hp system), amp Inkel AK 635 (€ 50 on ebay but muscular).

UTILIZATION

No problem on the Dell but not on my old HP Pavilion with Athlon 1.2 because of the FireWire, I tried two cards FW without success. So I changed the PC and there everything is going well. It is useful to check the compatibility of the Firewire stuff (the site of Motu)

Very simple configuration, detailed manual and French. OS and drivers downloaded from Motu.

I put 10 still becaufe if the PC were real PC (compatible what!) There shall have not all these problems, Motu has nothing to do with all that.

GETTING STARTED

Hyper-stable drivers. You can plug / unplug, turn on / off, reboot in all directions, the map is still there, although detected at first. In use, no crash, even when it explodes the CPU load or RAM, the card does not move, it's really pro. 4ms latency surprising given the number of I / O and FireWire 400 connectors. I bleufé, CPU consumption of this card is lower than my old Edirol DA2496 PCI yet. Motu drivers are the main strength of this card (and probably MOTU in general).

I use the card with all sorts of software including Cubase SX3 and a bunch of Plugin Vst Dx or.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 1 year. Here is my opinion:

At 1-unpacking: the card is very very light (thus portable) but suddenly frankly not strong (so portable, but with tweezers). The finish is really not to go very far behind the robust Edirol DA2496, FA66, Yamaha I-88X, RME FW etc ... The proof is activated when the knobs / switch, the LCD sinks, all the connections seem welded to the same circuit, the jack is not centered in front of the holes, the external power supply with its ridiculous over no more thicker than a hair short, not really pro.

2-But that's the only complaint as of everything else, the Traveler is a bomb. For starters, it is truly portable, it can enter the bag from the PC. and yet it alone is all I needed the studio:

- The preamps (4) high quality with an unbelievable headroom and no breath. The sound is superb, I record the classic yet (so many players away from the microphones) and the sound is nevertheless a clarity and precision, I believe it.
- A mixer stand alone analog / digital inputs and outputs over 20 can mix any type of signal in all frequencies and voltages in a sound and transparent total independence from the PC.
- A high-end sound card for the PC, a preamp for the video or Stereo without turning on the PC
- Midi Interface
- A headphone listens very well made, I find the clarity, the micro-information, reverbs that I could hear on my CD player Micromega Premium.
- The possibility of extension that left wondering!

3-What I did not expect: more possible to switch from stand alone so it's convenient, it completely replaces a real mixer. The small knobs on the front end are strong practice with a setting in decibels almost incredible precision when you have big fingers I have!

Short but good especially with the stability and low latency that turns my unstable environment in a portable studio PRO Hardware and carefree.

I finally selected the RME FW800 depands for three reasons: Because less expensive, very portable, and obviously the best drivers (less cpu intensive) RME many fans were disappointed by the greed of over FW800 to their old RME PCI or PCMCIA.

I had used € 750, you can probably negotiate below now. For an amateur like me is a luxury, but what a joy for music.

I use it for 18 months. I spent a Goldmike plugged into a Delta-44 before. Like what the quality of the converter is large, the sound is much better with the Goldmike + Motu. As for the Motu preamps, they do not have much to blush.

Its ease of use "all in one", its portability and sound quality make it the ideal tool to record left and right on the fly.
