MOTU Digital Performer 6Published on 05/26/09 at 10:04
The whole processing of installing and setting up MOTU Digital Performer 6 didn't take very long and was a pain free process. I didn't have any compatibility issues or other problems along the way and had the software up pretty quickly. The interface of the software is very user friendly, and while my main software is Pro Tools, Digital Performer provides me with more options for MIDI based projects. The manual for this software is put together very well and while it isn't necessary to have it around, if you are a beginner I would definitely recommend it.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I am currently running MOTU Digital Performer 6 on a Mac Book Pro that has a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM. I've never had any problems running this software with this computer and have been able to run as many tracks and effects as I want. This being said I never go too crazy with my MIDI compositions and I'm sure that other people use the software more to its full extent than I have. This being said, there is something to be said for the fact that I've never had any problems at all running this software.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using MOTU Digital Performer 6 for only less than a year but I've grown to love this software a great deal in this short time. It is very easy to use and makes getting MIDI ideas down a breeze. A lot of people love using Digital Performer because it has such a wide array of possibilities when it comes to using MIDI. Like I said earlier, Pro Tools is my main software, but I find that Digital Performer excels where Pro Tools lacks in terms of MIDI. This being said, I would only recommend MOTU Digital Performer 6 to those who want a piece of software to use MIDI with. The price is very reasonable and I love having the capabilities to have so many different virtual instruments going at a time. MOTU Digital Performer 6 is truly an awesome piece of software.

NOTICE GLOBAL

What shocks me and pushes me write here (thank you a modrateur transfrer of this message if error)
is the announced prices both in Belgium and in France, regarding this upgrade.
$ 195 = 195 !!!
Ms. counting the cost of transport of qques hundreds or even thousands of boxes on Europe,
This is unacceptable. Motu and nothing to do. It is the distributors who benefit.

- Easy setup but I think you know DP
- The only problem MANUAL IN ENGLISH

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

- MacBook Pro 4Gb of RAM running Mac OS X 10.5
- The software works very well. DP6 is more developed on OSX 10.5

OVERALL OPINION

- I use DP 6 for a week but I was on before DP5.
- My favorite ... audio engine for DP6 generally not dir. What I like least is the language of the software.
- I tried the Cubase SX3, some PROTOOL
- Value / discount from the price competition. But if it is expensive.
