This was purchased at The String Shoppe in Columbus, OH for $369.00

I wanted to upgrade to an Epiphone Les Paul that had dual volume and tone controls, and basically get something a little further up the Epi food chain. I already had a LP Special II and felt I was now "worthy" enough to get a better axe! The guitar has a Vintage Sunburst finish (just like Ace Frehley's guitar from the Kiss Alive album insert I had plastered on my bedroom wall waaaay back in 8th grade!) which is super. This guitar has creme pickup rings and pickguard. The neck shape is to my liking. The 2 exposed humbuckers scream. It also has a carved body (very nice!) and bolt on neck with great sustain.

The toggle switch sometimes take a little jiggling with after switching to either one of the pickups. I've seen similar comments on the Epiphone website forum. Not a major problem, but enough to mention.

Construction seems flawless to my semi-trained eyes. Finish is good and there's no fret problems. There was a slight buzz or rattle in one of the tuners, but I don't think it's inherent in the construction, probably just a small piece of something stuck in there. I tightened the screws and it went away.

I find this guitar very easy to play and great sounding. If you're on a budget it's a great little guitar. I play a lot of Aerosmith, ZZ Top, STP, and it sounds great. For a lower level Epiphone Les Paul, it certainly is a good investment.

I have owned this guitar (in ebony for mine) for 1 year.
It's classic LP. 2 humbuckers, 3-position selector, 2 vol, 2 tone, neck 22 frets, rosewood fingerboard, tune-o-matic. I can not remember the species.

UTILIZATION

I have chosen because it is a palette of sounds to me mequait (I possess a Telecaster and a Strat style godin) for a 2nd guitar.
It is light enough and thin enough the handle for this type of guitar.
In general, it is quite comfortable and easy to play. That's why I have chosen.
The sound is typical, well I think because I'm not coutimier like this guitar.
Instead of the selector does not suit me at all, and I was looking often (Fender habits).
And she goes out of tune too quickly.

SOUNDS

I plugged in a Fender Frontman: clean sounds ok. Jazz Blues ...
I had an old Hughes and Kettner Attax 40, ca sounded better if wanted. 70 big kind vintage rock, Aerosmith or Guns etc. ... or rock blues ... I think it is that she is most at ease.

I actually think I am more Fender.

I think it's a very good buy for beginners, and with a little Marshall cheap, it will go very well, and will do for the blues rock, 70's and hard.

UTILIZATION

This is a Les Paul in name only. I remember Les Paul being furious with Gibson for changing his signature model to the SG shape starting in 1960-61. He was so mad that he told them to take his name off of the guitar. With a guitar as nice as the SG, if Les Paul wanted his name off of it, why would he stand for it being put on something like this cheapo from Epiphone? The Les Paul 100 is a bit of a junker, to be blunt. It is hard to get a great setup on, meaning beginners will have to press harder, and for many of them this is discouraging. The body looks neat, until viewed up close - the guitar I tried had some small but noticeable finish imperfections in it. The fact that it is a bolt on does not help.

SOUNDS

Here's the real stinger - the pickups sound awful. They function, so it's not like the guitar does nothing. But the sounds it does make are extremely thin, with no definition, especially at high-gain scenarios. The pickups just have this dull blandness I couldn't shake, no matter how I set up the controls on the guitar or amp.

OVERALL OPINION

This is just a throwaway guitar, honestly. It would be a decent prop for a music video, as long as the camera wasn't HD or zoomed in too close. It really is that bad - if I were on a super tight budget, I'd try to look elsewhere, like an Ibanez. If the classic styling is that important to you, just save up for an Epiphone Les Paul Standard - you'll thank me.

If you've ever spent time with a Gibson Les Paul guitar than this guitar is not really got cut it for you. It doesn't carry the same feel, weight, and craftsmanship that a genuine Gibson Les Paul guitar would give you. It's more of a budget friendly guitar that is priced and crafted in such that it's marketable for more people because of the lower cost. Overall the tone is pretty much the same but just the feel and balance of the instrument doesn't come close.

SOUNDS

The tone is pretty much the same as a real Gibson Les Paul guitar. You get the same warm tone that you would get from the genuine Gibson Les Paul instrument. This guitar features two humbuckers with mahogany wood on the body and on the neck with a nice rosewood fretboard. So you can have pretty much the overall same frequency range within this guitar because of the similar materials used as a regular Gibson LP. This guitar can feel real nice with a high gain amplifier such as a Marshall or Mesa boogie or anything like that. You will get a really thick chunky type tone that will be very good at any hard rock, pop, or metal music setting.


OVERALL OPINION


These guitars are pretty inexpensive so you can find them pretty easily for right around $250. That is a pretty good price for someone who doesn't have a whole lot of money and wants to get this type of sound out of their instrument. I would recommend this guitar to someone who is looking for a Les Paul focused tone and doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money. Maybe Epiphones do have a nice feel and comfortable even though they don't feel like a genuine Gibson Les Paul guitar. Overall it's a good buy for someone that does not have a whole lot of money or someone who is trying to learn how to play the electric guitar.

UTILIZATION

This Les Paul is rather small (it do not bother playing standing). Getting started is easy with a handle end has a very good comparison Gibson.

In terms of acute, access is relevant because there is no particular difficulties to achieve them.

SOUNDS

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a little over a month and I never leaves her (lol). I tried Elypse Tea Custom Deluxe and S2 who have all released in less than two months and I also test and play on Jackson (Dinky) and ESP LTD (ec401 to 676euros and 1200euros horizon) but I was looking good and cheap and I am proud of my choice.

- The handle is perfect for me (I have small hands)

- The sound I was looking for, that of an LP which ^ ^
- I play with a Vox Pathfinder 15 forcment not the best amp for this type of sound but I wanted something versatile.
- I play everything on this guitar since it's my only guitar lctrique. However, do not play too much with the gain of the amplifier saturation IMMEDIATE otherwise. The pickups sound out of the norm for electronic passive. In comparison all the guitars I tried on my amp (an Epiphone LP Standard and a Squier Start Standard) seem voiceless ... In short I get a really enjoyable for its bold and cons it is impossible to get crystal clear sound with hints Dfine well.

- Finally we like it or not the sound of this guitar.

OVERALL OPINION

- I use it for about a month.
- What I like most is the fat well it is able to go out, I dtest? ... Bah the impossibility to get out its really a crystalline ... But it is an LP not a Start ...
- I tried an Epiphone LP Std (nice but less "powerful"), a Lag RX 100 (excellent), and Jim Harley LP (avoid) ...
- For this price you really a big sound so for me qualitprix excellent report.
- With the exprience, I would do this choice especially the price (210 Used with the bag and jack)

Getting started is easy and simple, but well after c is different people!
C is a lightweight guitar, jou can have hours without pain, al shoulder, those with a gibson dj jou understand me .....

So I do metal, but by or against the I c is different that I have EMG 81 active pickups. But that was axentu that the quality of the skyscraper, cheap but effectively .... By c is sentimental, it do so, 8 years that I have the scratch, which is a gift from my parents for Christmas, and I can not thank them enough! Jaime color and ergonomics, as well as the quality of the wicked, dsacordage virtually non-existent! UTILIZATION

The handle equals certainly not that of my Gibson Les Paul profile 60 'but is very convenient and more enjoyable to me than a real Les Paul Studio.

OVERALL OPINION

My first guitar, commissioned by post at a time when I did not even know that Fender or Gibson meant! Even after years, I still use it. It has not aged so to speak, the sound and look remain intact.
The price / quality ratio is excellent, certainly I do not regret that choice. Today should be compared against the competition: Cort, even Stagg are trademarks cheap already surprised me.
