SonicPulverizer's review"Big sounds from a small box"

Egnater Tweaker Head
15 watts of... everything? The Egnater Tweaker operates on a pair of 6v6's. It's single channel offers an array of toggle switches to refine your tone. You can choose between three different settings which emulate names such as Mesa, Marshall, and Vox (called USA, Brit, and AC--respectively). The inclusion of an effects loops is a great touch.

UTILIZATION

The tone controls are very responsive. The amp's many toggles allow for a large variety of sounds. The amp played very well with pedals and I had no troubles at all with the effects loop (unlike certain other amps I own). Even at 15 watts the amp is very loud.

SOUNDS

Played with a gibson Les Paul Standard and an Explorer traditional Pro. 1x12 Egnater cab. No pedals.

The Brit, AC, and USA settings do a good job at capturing the flavors represented. The "clean" mode had plenty of gain available. Switching to "Hot" mode carried on where the other left off, offering a surprising amount of aggression. The amp lost quite a bit of clarity as the volume increased. I discovered that the amp responds quite differently dependent on the guitar chosen. The Les Paul Standard I played through it sounded very tame and dapper compared to the Explorer and sometimes sounded muffled. The explorer sounded much more articulate with gain and seemed to retain more clarity at higher volumes as well.

OVERALL OPINION

The Tweaker is a wonderful amp for the price. Compared against the Tweaker 40 and 88 models, I enjoyed the 15 the most. It retained more character than the other amps, which seemed too ambitious in their feature sets to deliver. Do not expect the Tweaker to sound all that close in its impersonations of a Marshall or a Vox--but with a decent delay and a boost, the amp will come close enough for most.

iamqman's review"Best for the money"

Egnater Tweaker Head
Egnater is one of those companies that has quickly climbed into one of the top positions of the amplifier building world. Their amps are highly sought after primarily due to there modules and small wattage amps. People have gone crazy over these modules in recent years and for good reason, they are very versatile and fantastic sounding. They have also done a spectacular job at designing small combo or head amp that are low wattage and excellently priced.

SOUNDS

This amp is clearly the most versatile amp for the money that I have ever come across. You get the regular rundown of EQing of bass, middle and treble. You then get in addition to that a tight and deep switch for adding better low end or just tightening it up a bit. Then you get a normal or bright switch which adds about 5 db to the volume of the amp. Next you have clean or hot switch which adds about 8 db's to the volume of the amp. Then you have a mini switch that changes the voicing of the amp. You have three modes for this operation. You have a US mode for Fender like tones, then you have a Ac setting, and finally a British setting for the higher gain mode. The finally you have a mini switch for vintage and modern voicing. So the tonal versatility of this amp is just endless. you can find anything you are looking for with this amp. The only thing that is missing is the presences control knob. That would have just set it all off.

OVERALL OPINION

At new these amps come in at around $399, which is just a plain stupidly low price. I can't believe they are selling it for that low of a price. this is an amp that you would like to just have around for that price. If you ever get tired of the tone you got from your current rig and need to mix it up a bit then this is a cheaper gas fix then a new Bogner or Diezel amp.

Random Hero's review"Egnater Tweaker head & 1x12 cab"

Egnater Tweaker Head
The Tweaker is Egnater's second lunchbox head and they have come a long way since the Rebel. The Tweaker is a single channel 15 watt all tube head powered by a duet of 6V6 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes. That alone is impressive enough for the price but when you factor in the fact that you get a Vintage/Modern switch, a three-position voicing switch and further power amp controls, and usual master, gain, treble, middle and bass controls, it is a lot of amp for the money. The cabinet is a semi-open back with an 8ohm Celestion G12H30 speaker rated at 30 watts.

UTILIZATION

Great sounds are easily obtainable with this amp. Using the three-position voice switch and mild EQ tweaks, you can immediately go from blackface Fender type (USA) clean sounds to edge of break-up Vox AC30 type (AC) sounds to balls to the wall Marshall Plexi type (Brit) tones and everything in between. It really is that versatile. Factor in the tight and bright switches which offer further customisation and the vintage/modern switch which alters the overall response of the power amp and a Hot/Clean switch which offers 9dB of gain boost taking you into high gain territory and you can indeed be Tweaking. The controls do exactly as they say and nothing they don't which makes dialling in tones a breeze.

Oh, and did I mention you can drop in any octal power tubes you like? 6L6s for a more Fendery vibe? Sure! EL34s for a more Marshall voice? Absolutely! Definitely one for Tweakers!

SOUNDS

The sounds themselves are rich and complex sounding and befitting of an amp of a much higher price tag. A personal favourite tone of mine is in AC mode with the amp set to clean and the gain maxed. This setting with a Tele is Brad Paisley heaven. Another is a Les Paul into Brit mode with the Hot switch selected. Gain anywhere beyond 12 o'clock and you're looking at a roaring Marshall tone in a 15w lunchbox head. Switch in EL34s and you really capture that vibe. The beauty is that whilst it doesn't get all the way there on any of the sounds in terms of absolute authenticity, the most important features are there and they make for a very satisfying overall experience of playing and hearing the amp.

OVERALL OPINION

For the money, I don't believe this amp can be matched. The package is well built and offers a lot of versatility. The speaker is perfectly matched to the head in terms of power handing and tonal output and when you really start to delve into the amp you can see that it would be at home in a lot of musical situations.

A very fine amplifier!

Egnater Tweaker Head
Full amp lamps.

15watts with switch 16/8/4ohm

Two Jack outputs

Settings: volume / gain / A Bass equalizer / med / Temble / Switch Standy By

Then a series of switches let you shape your sound to your taste:

A switch Modern / Vintage (acute and bass boost on modern)
Normal switch / hot to boost the gain
Brightness "treble boost"
deep / tight: sharper or fat

And especially a triple switch that will allow to move from the U.S. (fender) / AC typed AC15 / British typed Marshall

Presence of loop effect.

Finally a versatile amp tubes!

UTILIZATION

Simple setup: Yes. All sounds coming out are good.

Not read the manual ... c is from analog .. pure intuitive.

Currently connected to the VOX 112TV cabinet

SOUNDS

This little amp suit every style of music. At worst pedal more for metalheads ... But he swallows fine pedals and incredible sound "sculptable to wish."

ALL sounds can almost out .. crisper and Christallin in saturated fat and more. I play it with a Stratocaster Am Special "special microphones tex" waiting for my Deretour Lp customization. Tested with my fasle wah and a boss ds-1 and ca goes alone.

I love this amp saturation changing impression by AC / British / U.S. mode.

"Ability to play at low volume with Gain and Volume."

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a week.

I have a VOX AC4TV, tested a peavey rage 15w, a tiny terror head, an AC15 bluesJunior a fender, a haze marshall, fender mustang ....

I appreciateany most is the ability to change the sound of the amp with different switch.

Unbeatable value for money ... 3 sounds kind AC / British / U.S. + We get the finest settings ... what heads limit purchases of multiple amplifiers.

I would do this choice without hesitation.
