The compact size of this synth is that it has a special operation, personally I love it! But given some reports, many synth players were somewhat confused. UTILIZATION

SOUNDS

The Micron is a synth! So if you want to get something that suits us, we must address the synthesis and for that Micron has under the hood! I am the first to think that listening to the sounds of the factory, the Micron sounds good but still pretty cold. After hack, it's not the same. What is the strength of Micron is, in my opinion, the quality of the filters (but not only). OVERALL OPINION

I have the Micron very long (over 5 years) ... but I do not use (or rather) reuses the last few months. Indeed, in 2008/2009 I found myself in an apartment in transition (between a move and a new moving in) for a year and I can store my synths where I could. Wishing to continue playing I started looking for a very compact synth without going through minitouches (I can not stand, it is unplayable and it is too fragile). So I was attracted by Micron primarily for its compact than its capacity (its qualities should I say) synthesis. Now I realize that the two are compatible (perhaps I was the only one to doubt).

For a long time I was a hardcore fan of all analog + while facade. And even if my means did not allow me to invest in the analog, I now realize that there are other ways, so other programming logic in the world of hardware synths for pleasure also different.

The Alesis Micron has the "potential" to take full of cum in the criticism: "not enough buttons and knobs control" systems are very fucking hot. UTILIZATION

Ultra simple and intuitive. It has easy access to sounds and menus because everything is very well classified and the entire keyboard is a contribution made to facilitate access. Very good ergonomics. Buttons and sliders very pleasant and efficient. I prefer the version 2 sliders wheel unlike most Miniak which offers 3 knobs.
It also goes without saying that it is much more reliable than any old analog 70s. It is still important.

SOUNDS

I heard a lot of analog emulations and for me the best offers micron. I find it far superior in all respects to a microkorg for example.
What is surprising is the amount of different filters it offers emulations filters with well-known as Arp or moog to mention only the most prestigious. And the fact that it is!

OVERALL OPINION

I like everything on this synth. I have not talked about the design but I find it excellent, which does not spoil anything. For me this is the instrument or the Arp odyssey minimoog the XXIst century, much cheaper of course.
Initially I had big doubts about emulations, especially after hearing the microkorg or other machines, but then I really totally changed my mind.
The Miniak the same characteristics but I think the design and configuration with three wheels less successful. Moreover, it is a shame they have replaced the beautiful aluminum case with micron black plastic on Miniak.
I definitely adopted micron.

The Alesis Micron is based on the larger Alesis Ion. It's a full 3-octave keyboard housed in a red and white/silver case. I'm a bass player, but I bought the Micron to control with Roland PK-R bass pedals rather than spend $2000 for the new Moog Taurus pedals. I also use it for string pads in live situations and as a MIDI controller for home recording.

The Micron far more sounds than I will ever use, including bass, lead, strings, brass and a variety of pads and effects. There are three envelope generators and two LFOs with multiple wave shapes and sample and hold. The Micron offers a programmable step sequencer, an arpeggiator, a rhythm sequencer for drum kits. Effects include a 40 band vocoder. Stereo inputs let you process external audio through its effects, filters and vocoder. Stereo output is excellent for recording and live performance.

I like the variety of presets on the Micron and that you can edit them fairly easily. I also like the favorites feature that allows you to save often-used sounds in a single location. I also like that it has full-size keys rather than the tiny ones on the comparable Korg synths.

Pushbuttons or rather than rotary controls would have been nice for recalling presets, but since I'm not a dedicated keyboard player, it's really no problem.

The Micron is solidly built and, with reasonable care, there's really no need to buy a hardshell road case. A padded bag is sufficient.

For the money, the Alesis Micron delivers fully polyphony and a lot of sounds, including classic Minimoog for leads as well as a great variety of string pads. Comparing it to other synthesizer in t5hi price range ($400) I think the Micron is the clear winner.

UTILIZATION

Good move on to something srieuses.
Despite the limited number of controllers, it is doing trs, trs good ergonomics as great pens. I have been a month now and I'm in love with my Micron compltement!
It's small, perfectly versatile, powerful and above the synthse it sounds incredibly well (do not even look MicroKorg compared with a synth or another in the same price range would be a loss temp!).
The price / quality ratio is simply outstanding, pay 460 euros in Germany, I am the synthesis of the moment! And that price will be given the qu'tre comprhensif ngatifs some points of the machine.
Outputs-no spars
-No aftertouch on the keyboard (those who have criticized the quality of the keyboard would do well to test the concurrency is not worse than a Micro Q and largely better than microKORG and these keys to bb ).
The sequencer, which is certainly a good idea, but that is not an ergonomics incredible and is far from being a MODEL of gender, level of function.

Having in my possession a SH101 for fifteen years, I took my first steps in trying to be as close as possible to a HS in config. I got no worries.
I was surprised that sound very close I managed to get the Micron!
I programmed a sound enough techno by emulating the PWM HS 101 and it's really almost like the real! There's just the filter that is not really perfect because not emulated in the micron. For this I chose between the MG 4 poles or 4 poles according to the JP sound.
I also had (and what a con to have sold) a Minimoog.
Here too, the astonishment, the Micron sounds great and moog type filter is a success! The bass is deep and sharp without being aggressive.
I have not tried going further but it's really not bad!
Even building a sound from a single oscillator (without Unison), a filter and an envelope, the sound is already thick with good bass and a good offense.
It does really well, I am very pleased and surprised in this respect especially after being disappointed with many other modeling and virtual machines.
The modulation matrix is ​​really great, it can modulate almost anything with anything and it's really flexible and comprehensive level possible. For example, it also helps to get as close as possible to the configuration of a real analog synth.

I love the most:
- The sound is very close to a true analog
- Three oscillators whose waveforms are adjustable (Waveshape), that's great!
- Very good filters and congratulations to Alesis for the Moog filter (mg 4 poles)
- Very versatile and extensive sound level, the modulation matrix
- Lots of possibilities, there's enough to create fun and especially full of sounds and patterns.
- The sequencer and the arpeggiator phrases Recorder
- The effects, not demented but very correct and not metal (very important especially for the reverb) So it does it well and it is very useful.

What I like least
-Again and again (as with any digital machine) some artifacts in the envelope at the end especially when you release the note.
- Pitch bend the wrong place, I would have completely left the synth

UTILIZATION

I for a month. It's not much, but enough to say how much Micron Fully satisfied and surprised me. I wanted a small synth to replace my JP8000 which he seemed to have been around (when you understand all the controls, has become less drle) that has formant, a multitimbral enjoyable (the above The Micron is unbeatable) and can be a casio squence base. The first approach seemed to me quite complex, but after a quick read of the manual, everything becomes clear, it is sufficient to understand the logic of the beast, they thought full super practical shortcuts to navigate the menus (it's obviously good is not a good gaggle of knobs!), the backup feature is very well thought out, you can edit the A to Z and then return to the original to compare or cancel the changes, I love it!
The setup mode allows you to create performance by piling up a staggering number of sounds and rhythms in the same patch by assigning them to certain areas of the keyboard, in the same manner as a sampler, great! Be careful not to exceed the polyphony!
The sequencer is simple and incredibly effective, with melodies as with the rhythm.
Assigning knobs to different settings is fun, too bad there are so few.

SOUNDS

I am a techno and electronica, the sounds are great! The sounds are quite varied, whether for bass, leads, pads or rhythmic, but still very electronic: do not rely on the sounds of piano and strings very realistic!
The effects are also very electronic, the reverb is freezing, we like it or not!
again to the somewhat experimental electro it's great!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for six months, I like the sounds very electro, the use of different modes and the sequencer, I just wish that no more knobs on the front and separate outputs but good the price, we will not ask for the moon!
I had a sh-32 and KS-rack, I will not venture to the comparison, each has its advantages and disadvantages, you ... I would do it all the same choices with eyes closed, for this price!
