Installation without any problem: load the CD, follow the instructions, plug.
Simple to use, manual in English ok.

Drivers: I have not made up of day (v1.0), everything works fine.
For now, I use an older version of Cool Edit, which allows me to record in multitrack.
Latency and number of tracks? I have not pushed the tests ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a few days.
I prfre: it does not need PC to work! In fact, it can rev well use it as a small standalone mixer with two microphones, a line between an adjustable mini potentiomtre derrire and even an optical input.
Otherwise, even pushing pramplis background on trs microphone means no breath "abnormal".
Before, I used the line between my old laptop, a Behringer mixer, but I had to remove the plug before each record (if bzzzzz).
Trs good price quality ratio, I would do without this choice hsitation!

I was looking amliorer the sound of my piano recordings. I used two AKG microphones 3000, a Behringer prampli Ultragain and a TASCAM CD. I replaced the burner pramp and the FA 66 and a PC.

UTILIZATION

The installation went well, feeling a little because it is the very first time I use the hardware for recording on PC. But carefully following the manual, it's good!

GETTING STARTED

The map book was bought in Playback with its pilots but software. In this config, it can serve as priph audio output (think of frquence rgler the Sampling of 48 kHz ...). To register, you need a lociciel. Wavelab had to mount my recordings and it works! I record tracks in 2 x 16 bits x 44.1 kHz. I tried in 2 tracks x 24 bits x 192 kHz: it works but the sound is not better and the sound rsiduel, mic sensitivity of the mini is 10 dB stronger that in 44.1.

How long have you use it? Yesterday ...
Previous compared my config, there's no contest: the sound is better, more transparent. It is probably for the disappearance of the color of the Ultragain. Tight deadlines that when I pass a basic console Behringer's Ultragain, I also found a amlioration.

The above notice date of 2005. I happily used this card for two years before replacing it with an RME Fireface 400. I just sell it because it served me more that listening to music on the internet and I replaced it for this purpose by an RME Babyface (who s'avre less touchy when used both as main Windows audio device and peripherals such as ASIO, kind of debauchery that the FA-66 and Figure n'apprcie reported by becoming mute until this that we restart Windows). Just before sending the new Owner ', I have my new branch microphones (which are no longer the AKG but CMC6 Schoeps MK21-...) to compare the most prestigious collgue . I used two PCs and a rpartiteur microphone to record the same socket with two interfaces (see photo). A bit of Beethoven (Take 1 gross) and some Schubert (2 + taken + rverb legalization), costs quickly: to record with two microphones, difficult to justify the price two times the lev Fireface ... My choice was the FA-66 for its 6 / O especially the optical (at the time I was considering buying the MA-20D monitors that have an optical input), the firewire port (faster than USB), its own integrated two preamps and MIDI ports.

My config is cubase sx 2 on laptop centrino 1.5 Ghz, 512MB Ram.

I use it with the Fostex PM0.5 monitors, a synth Roland EM-2000 and some virtual instruments.

UTILIZATION

The installation was done very quickly. It is true that the manual is in English but we found there very quickly.

What I like least is a detail: the small on / off switch is behind the box (nothing serious in itself, but had to put something!)
The value for money is very good I think. I recommend it to beginners like me, as to more experienced people.

I was looking for an external sound card.
The Firewire interface is the fastest and easiest to use. (The usb2 me parrait not as fast - After a few tests of course - that the firewire)
I would also be able to connect PC and Mac without making head.

I'm not a pro of music but I find the utiliastion so simple that it's troubling.
When I see the galre it on my pc even not attempt the test.

UTILIZATION

I had problem with the installation. But this is not to the FA66.
My problem concerned the firewire. First I bought a Texas Instrument card that when I cram the FA66 branch above, 4-pin! (Hence the silent card plugs into the adapter).
So I bought an Adaptec 4300 in Fireconnect LDLC.com. The card runs natively. Nickel.

Then I install the FA66, but I had trouble spending the second step of the installation: the dtection between ports of the card, and the installation of the card . The dtection of priph. Firewire Windows XP does a little longer than what I expected (several minutes).

In short, now it works NICKEL! : O) Prvoir a good pair of speakers for monitoring will appreciate the quality. I redcouvre all my songs!

The card configuration is simple. I would say the installation, the more difficult. I have yet to test the MIDI.

The manual is in English, and is not trsdtaill. Too bad.

I have not needed the driver updates.

I use this card with Steinberg Nuendo. I have a 10ms latency when the buffers are set to a standard size, and 13 ms when the largest possible.

I will not have more than two tracks recorded simultanment. I work with a DJ or two. I see when I need to do a live socket.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought two weeks ago (29 January 2006).

The map really seemed more impressive on the net, in fact it is quite small. Design.

At first I thought I had made a bargain with this interface because I was looking for material that allows me to record without breath and gives another dimension to my songs;

However, with an adjusted price (€ 309 now), this interface is nevertheless a good choice for low budget (like mine) and I think that apart from the models of RME, MOTU and Mackie are a tone above, the FA-66 is located in the top models of other brands of firewire audio interfaces, since it can record with a certain breathless quality ... but we must recognize that in my ear, there's something missing in the sound that emerges.
if I were to buy a digital audio interface today while remaining within the reasonable price issue, I think I would make a financial effort and I let perhaps more tempted by the MOTU Ultralite for as has TRUBAC, interface appears to be accompanied by very good reviews ... although it must add 200 € more from the FA-66 which is not nothing.

Small and firewire

I use it mainly scne (ie a laptop) and turns like "notepad" luxury everywhere

I record mainly vocals and guitar (the rest in virtual instr) in rab with a small or universal audio preamp JOEMEEK

My laptop is an Asus V6 centrino 2.13 GHz / HDinterne in 7200 rev / min (important) and 2GB of Ram.

UTILIZATION

- Installation impeccable. I stress this point because I had lots of prob with my laptop (Asus V6). I tested a lot of sound cards and the only one who walked the first shot ....... Edirol FA66.

- Config easy and clear manual (useless but good)

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for some months now. It is still stable and easy to transport.
Its main default is mostly the quality trs average pramps board. Frankly, it limits foutage of mouth. Those of the firebox seemed to me more "punchy". Attention, I'm not talking about tone color or other (remaining trs subjective), but of comparable quality. I hear a microphone by a few anmi has no chance with these pramps. And I do not even among the HiZ should call plutt AEZ.

In fact, with a good quality static plutt the card works fine. And I add more entries by an external pramp and more concern.

I wanted a sound card that works with my laptop and my having. For the rest is no more the 300 euros. If I had the choice (compatibility with the Asus), I took the Firebox (smaller and less-pramps who have the default color of the juice pronounced).
