- What characteristics have motivated your choice?

All, but especially the 16 live inputs for decision and decision batteries. The quality (and level) of preamp inputs and 2 lamp.

- For what purpose?

From the home studio and especially taken essetiellement batteries which caused problems with my firebox.

- What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Hard ,...)?

Core 2 Duo 6400

- Which instruments and systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) you use it and how connections? ...

For now, I have taken almost as micro direct (static and dynamic). I also recorded live on a low input tube and a pod (entered online for the latter)

UTILIZATION

- The installation is done it without problems?

Unfortunately not in my case, two good hours of stress before the operation. If you encounter trouble sync, consider using the "Safe mode" in the console of votes of the card, it will save you a few good hours of stress.

- Have you experienced any incompatibilities?

Yes, with Windows media player. But problem solved after using Safe Mode 1.

- The general configuration is easy?

On that side, nothing wrong, it's just childish to use.

- The manual is clear and sufficient? ...

First, it is in English, personally, I'm not pose a problem but it can be problematic for others so ... I think it does absolutely nothing. No mansion of Safe mode for example ...

GETTING STARTED

- The drivers are stable?

If you have read the beginning of my opinion, you know not. Nothing dramatic (I could use it all weekend without any problems) but this is a list of concerns faced:

- Plantage very rare but still crash Cubase SX3
- Using Safe mode 1 instead of the normal mode (which're not, normal ...)
- Obligation to reset the card in cubase at each change of project (it takes two seconds but it's still boring).

- Are they often updated?

Knowing presonus, and as they have eight months to release the vista driver for the firebox, it is clear that the answer is no.

- What software do you use most often?

Cubase SX 3.

- What you get lag?

I do not know but the three musicians recorded the pros I have nothing WE noted this point of view. Imperceptible in any case (and I would say between 4 and 6 ms)

- How many tracks you get to record / play time? ...

The maximum was 10 until now, but I'm sure you can save the hassle-free 16.

For reading, I went up to 37 or 38 (I said no effect) and my CPU load never exceeded 15% in cubase.

- How long have you use it?

1 week with a weekend of intense 4 days.

- What is so special that you like most and least?

Most is the number entered. The least that the young drivers.

- Have you tried many other models before buying it?

Not in this Cathegory. But I have used for over 2 years and a firebox of course, the difference in quality is undeniable (as is the price!).

- How would you rate the quality / price?

Unbeatable with this level of quality and equipment. Note also the software package and plug in high quality comes with the card.

- With experience, you do again this choice? ...

Despite the concerns of stability, without hesitation.

For my config is stable archi ... Finally, for now. The 16-track recording is going very well, with no stall.

For now, I only used the 16-track recording of the rack, so no problems.
In reading, 32 for now, I have not done more. I expect to come across a project that will seek more.

Please note, entries on the front is 15 & 16 and not 1 & 2 ....

EXCELLENT.

We regret an I / O digital, like the classic FireStudio.
Provide independent preamps for 6 tracks jack.
Another regret I have an 8 input FIREPOD bought 5 years ago, I thought I could rotate the two gears together, and from 16 to 24 tracks without success: both cards operate independently, the firmware FP8 be obsolete ...
Final point: the latency is slightly higher than that of FP8, and I have stalls on mix tanks plug-ins that I did not with the FP8. (Cubase 5 with Windows 7 PC / AMD Athlon 64x2 3600 + / 4GB)

In summary, plug, and it works.

GETTING STARTED

Attention to the configuration of input / outputs. The FireStudio Tube is equipped with a software I / O performance and relatively developed, which can independently manage each track, however, it took me several tens of minutes before configuring the system correctly. This includes thinking about panning stereo tracks output to avoid phase errors.

OVERALL OPINION

Sound:

Presonus sound quality, accurate and neutral preamps.
The two-channel tube (a light for both channels) works very well and can have a different sound from other inputs, settings and more (and drive capacity).

Manufacturing:

Slightly less robust than FP8: FireWire and plastic food. No worries for now.


Average:

Very good sound card in all, good base for a home studio, the possibility of coupling with other elements (FireStudio Tube, FireStudio, ...). To increase the number of tracks ...

Logic Pro 9
tested cubase sx4 LE (which is with the card), Pro Tools 9, and it works but the pattern is more obscure and less in the box that in Logic (bah Ouè this is really top DAW)

What latency you get?
3 or 4ms in logic it seems to me
