Great 5150 sound!
Published on 08/18/16 at 10:41This is a GREAT value for a preamp (size, sound, ect!)!! Has to be used into the FX loop or straight into a poweramp!!! NO front of amp BS!!! If ANY reviews are based on "front of amp" -ignore them! This vid says it all!
I have collected the AMT B-1, E-1, and P-1 and all are awesome! More realistic than my Zoom G3 or Digitech GSP1101 5150 model!…

Kind of thin
Published on 04/04/11 at 22:02I know these Legendary Series pedal are supposed to be preamps used in an effects loop. This review is based off of running in front of an amp like most pedals are intended.
This pedal is horrible! It is attempting to sound like EVH or a 5150 amp, but it comes up way short. Unlike most AMT pedals this one really sounds like a pedal and not anything like an amp. It is very thin and metallic sounding. It has a fuzz thing going on that is annoying to hear and brittle sounding.

- The AMT Legend Amp Series guitar pedals provide excellent dynamics, nuances, and characteristics similar to that of tube driven amplifiers.
- Tube-like range of volume control provides great sound density, playability, and power when playing at full volume and also in conjunction with your guitars volume knob.
- TRUE BYPASS. The preamps of the Legend Amp Series pedals use passive true bypass circuitry, therefore no loss of guitar signal is noticed in your pedal chain. Similar to if no pedal was there at all when bypassed.
- Features high level of output signal (+10dB in extreme position of Level knob) corresponds to the output levels similar of tube preamps. Thus, you have adjustable signal level allowing to hook up your preamp AND direct input of a power amplifier.
- Controls include LEVEL, GAIN, LOW, MID, and HIGH.
- TWO signal outputs: DIRECT AMPLIFIER OUT for guitar amplifier use and CAB SIMULATION OUT for mixer, or studio use.
- Power saving mode. When the speaker simulation output jack is not in use, the pedal automatically switches to power saving mode. Current consumption (from 9V power unit) is less than 6mÀ (in power saving mode it drops to 4mÀ).
UTILIZATION
This pedal is very user friendly with only 5 control knobs. The EQ section is pretty basic and does as it reads....Low, Mid, and High. The Level control the overall volume output and the Gain will control the distortion and saturation.
You really don't need a manual as this thing is labeled simply as it says and sounds horrible in any setting.
SOUND QUALITY
AMT this pedal is garbage! I would rather buy a trash Boss pedal than this thing as I know Boss pedal last forever sounding like garbage and you just haven't been around long enough to know whether or not I'll have a trash tone for years to come.
It really doesn't matter which amp or guitar you try it with. The pedal simply reminds me of the Boss DS-1 at how embarrassing this pedal sounds. I'd rather bang trash cans against the side of the wall then record or even play this thing live.
OVERALL OPINION
This thing supposed to sound like a 5150 amp is it doesn't even come close. The 5150 is a legendary amp which this is the legendary series pedals. Nice try but no cigar AMT...this pedal will better fit being run over by a truck then be attached to any pedal board.
I wouldn't recommend this pedal to anyone. It is such trash and the price is good at $120 but it will be a waste of $120 bucks. Don't waste your time or money. AMT has a few better pedals than this one.

The lil box that disconnects ...
Published on 09/29/13 at 10:38 (This content has been automatically translated from French)Small preamp (yes this is more than a distortion pedal) made in Russia, emulating the famous Peavey 5150/6505.

Power supply (not included) 9V or 12V, either.
A single channel, with true bypass.
UTILIZATION

The big slap.
It does NOT replace a 5150 or a 6505, but what is on is that the emulated output from the effect processor and live mix console with Eq / Comp / etc ... properly adjusted, bah my friends, it sings!
My DiMarzio, whether the DP159Evo or D-Activator finally give her EC!
The EQ settings are simple table entry (pledge of equipment led), unlike the V-Amp Pro, which required two parametric EQ layers not to break and mix and ears.
Palm mutes are less powerful than the V-Amp Pro, you can compensate by pushing the gain background tad, but then it starts to drool a little (those who love the fuzz do not complain). Clean and sharp sound, gain at noon ensures proper balance.
A small Maxon OD-808 input should solve this problem and provide more attack while keeping the edge of the beast (so next purchase).
In any event a success.
OVERALL OPINION
Purchase 2 months of waiting.
Connection: 2 minutes.
Settings to p'tits onions (including console): 15 minutes.
Fun to play / record / mix: HUGE.
You like big distortion way Machine Head, Slipknot, Pantera?
You still want to shape its TON?
You have an old cabinet with a SM57 and no gold coins for the 6505 head?
Or you want to play live table with its 95% true?
So what are you waiting for go and get one?
PS: AMT does the same thing for Mesa, Soldano, Marshmal, etc ... and even two channels! Check out their website!
Y are strong these russkoff ...

AMT P1, the 5150 preamp for metal!
Published on 03/23/13 at 10:18 (This content has been automatically translated from French)Well, do short: AMT P1 is a preamp pedal MXR format, using JFET technology.
Read PREAMP well, eh? So it is made to plug into a PowerAMP, not in front of an amp / preamp else!
That said, it is possible to still use the front panel, using the output cabinet simulator, and the results are drinking on a clear sound.
Connectivity simple and complete: input, direct output (for connecting to a return of PowerAMP or effects loop), cabinet simulator (for plugging directly into a console, or in front of an amp for the more adventurous).
Detail: P1 requires a 9V DC power (12V, it is even better), with an intensity of 6 mA (not greedy), negative center ... or a traditional 9V ^ ^.

Cosmetic level / strength, the pedal is well built, the switch is very strong and soft, the paint is good quality.
The interior is in the same vein: the circuit board is very clean, the interior as well as exterior machined.
Little bonus at the end: the pedal is Made in Russia, made in the city of Omsk, West Siberia ^ ^. It is even signed by its designers, gentlemen Kampf Marichev and Chernyaev. Long live the eternal Russia!
На Здоровие!
UTILIZATION
The general configuration could not be more simple: three knobs for EQ (bass, mid, treble), 1 volume knob, 1 gain knob.
I never looked at the manual, we do not really need.
It is very, very easy to find beautiful sounds: just dose level gain, restore volume, then even according to his tastes. The knobs are very effective.
SOUND QUALITY
The guys at AMT us understand that the AMT P1 is a simulation of Peavey 5150.
Never having tried a 5150, I could not tell you if this is true, but what is certain is that this pedal sounds really good.
AMT P1 gives this sounds harsh, dense, violent, with virtually unlimited headroom! It responds well to volume knob on the guitar, and shines with beautiful large dynamic until crunch (beyond it settles, normal). The resulting sounds are really realistic sounds like a real amp, this is clearly not a gadget digital sounds "squeaking" (Notice to manufacturers cheap multi-effects).
In addition, the pedal has a good versatility, allowing to scan the "nice" crunch, good heavy metal high-gain distortion modern (and regardless of the microphone, so headroom is huge).
The best sounds were large modern saturations. Obviously, cleans and crunches were less convincing high gain pedal forces.
Note that the AMT P1 gives the best of itself in DC 12V power: the sounds are more vivid, fuller, with a little more dynamic. But it already sounds very well 9V.
3 chainings I used most often:
- Guitar => AMT P1 preamp direct out => PowerAMP Brunetti Rockit => Orange PPC112 V30, the sound was excellent, one of the best high gain sounds that I could have at home!
- Guitar => AMT P1 preamp direct out => PowerAMP EHX 22 Caliber => Orange PPC112 V30, the sound was very good, a little less realistic than the Brunetti Rockit, but it gave already want to play all day ^ ^ .
- = Guitar> preamp AMT P1 cab sim => Peavey Nano Valve, the sound was better than the distortion of Peavey Nano Valve, but it was a lot lower treble to the sound is correct. Somewhat expected given the speaker's tiny Peavey Nano Valve.
I used it with several different guitars: Vigier Excalibur Indus, Fender / Warmoth Telecaster NAS-Kotzen, Teisco Spectrocaster, Ibanez 540PII. It sounded great every time!
OVERALL OPINION
Since July 2010, I used it for almost 3 years.
I've used other preamps before P1: M1 AMT (good for crunch / hard rock), ENGL E530 (excellent, but it is a machine with a higher range) Damage Control Demonizer (a bit disappointing this pedal).
What I love most: the sound quality, the realistic sounds, distortions well violent, manufacturing quality, small size, price, Made in Russia Omsk West Siberia.
What I like least: nothing.
The value is very good: 90 € new, used 50-60 €. Win this brand really be known.
Is what I would do this choice? Obviously yes!
NB: for practical reasons, I sold the AMT P1 (as well as M1), so I can buy AMT D2. Yes, I am in AMT!
However, I consider buying a M2 AMT.
