Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal (2007)

The Wah-Wah is excellent! It offers sounds on different frequencies it scans.
Very convenient to use: an input, an output, and a pressure foot after the pedal is enough to trigger the effect.

UTILIZATION

General configuration very easy!
If you are going to walk with us, and therefore the bottom of the pedal sounds are obtained with low frequencies; and vice versa.
I will not deny that I did not even read the manual, because I immediately connected to two inputs, the power-and the music!
Editing sounds is also very easy.

SOUND QUALITY

The effects of this pedal are excellent. I use this pedal with all my guitars, anyway it always sounds the fire god!

OVERALL OPINION

I use this pedal for 2 years now, and I'm very happy with me being procured. This really is a great pedal with monstrous effects!
What I like the most is to play a note in the bass, then switching to high frequencies by pushing the pedal; it gives an effect like "wooooouuuuueeeeeaaaaah".

UTILIZATION

It takes a bit of time before taking the hand (or rather foot) to engage the effect the first time since the click is enough "far" in the pedal stroke. On the other hand, it avoids inadvertent manipulation. No volume control or anything, so we use is not be easier! The race is against rather short which makes use of delicate pedal: a slight movement of the foot significantly change the sound.

SOUND QUALITY

I am very divided on this point. I find it very natural and beautiful clean sound, but when you push the gain is lost in translation and the pedal becomes strangely shrill. I do not use more than the funky rhythm, I find it excellent!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year now. It's a bit the opposite of a Cry Baby: while Dunlop is more comfortable on distorted leads, Vox fits perfectly on rhythmic clear sound.
I do not regret this purchase. For its price it is a good wha-wha entry level. on the other hand I change surely a more versatile pedal.

OVERALL OPINION

This is a wah that I have since 2006. If you do not have a chain effect and you interleave between the guitar and amp, the sound is quite acceptable. on the other hand in a pedalboard in gondola or after overdrive, this pedal even cut bouffera treble and once switched on will not make any distortion or fuzz. Therefore, unusable.

Based on this observation, two solutions came to my mind: 1. get rid of as soon as possible, 2. Put your hands in the bowels. I chose the latter and, for that matter, I began all over again because of the poor quality of the original components and the virtual impossibility of mods on the circuit (unless surgeon )
I started reading tutorials (easy, there are everywhere), find a clone PCB high quality (GP Electronics), and then selecting the components most quality possible - within the limits of reasonable inducer Halo knob ICAR, condos Panasonic metal film, Switchcraft jacks open, Carling DPDT switch "long shaft", BC109C transistors, resistors + Royal Ohm trimmers to easily change the sound settings. Attention, it is not easy to get the PCB instead of the previous, because screw locations are not the same as the U.S. model. It was therefore necessary to tinker a little / a lot, but in the end, a few hours on this success are greatly rewarded: First off on the sound of the guitar is finally respected, this is the least of it. Then the switch is much easier to engage, even sitting. Then the sound: it is a very vintage color, but with more "vocal" than Chinese, even on an overdrive well supported (it is not perfect yet with a fuzz but there is no comparison there with initial boiling!). Only downside, the BC109C I generate a lot of breath. In future, I intend therefore to test other transistors, and associate a buffer output to have a better behavior with a fuzz.

Conclusion: If I put a note in the original version, I would put 5/10 to the side of recyclable product, but honestly I can not do better

simple and effective, no superflux. in the dismantling can even adjust the rack to play with more or less high frequencies.

it is that I prefer to wah! after testing in store.
I use a fender telecaster 52 and a blues deluxe

OVERALL OPINION

I have this model for 3 years, I love the sound and the frequency range used (adjustable by removing) and its look.
on the other hand, it tends to scruitcher! even greasing the drive, it keeps coming back. I even made one change under warranty but the new after a moment did the same.
