I bought the POD about 4 years ago at Sam Ash. I paid about 300 dollars for the unit at the time.

The sound quality and ease of use of the POD makes it the best cabinet simulator on the market. The presets are all great and allow for a true right out of the box use. The POD is also very flexable and allows the user to create thier own sounds. The optional software allows for connectivity to your PC. Allowing you to create your own unique sounds and transfer them back and forth from the POD to the PC.

Without the optional foot pedal attachment the POD is extremly difficult to use in live performances. The odd kidney bean shape sometimes makes it difficult to find a place to put it.

The POD is very well constructed and durable.

Best recording tool for and home studio to have. The over all quality of the unit would have to be rated a 4.5 out of 5.

Purchased at Long and Mquade/Ward Music North Vancouver BC Canada. I aquired the pod because I had just moved from a house into a small apartment. I knew I wouldn't have the room for all my gear plus I don't think playing with any sort of volume through your amp really endears you to your new neighbours. As far as cost goes, I bought the POD about a year ago and can't remember the exact price. It was aroun $475 CDN.

I like absolutely everything about the POD. Right out of the box this thing is just tons of fun. The 16 amp models all have a very distinct and tasteful sound. I doubt very much that it matters to the average person whether or not the "Tweed Blues" setting sounds exactly like a vintage fender '59 Bassman being that most people could never afford one in the first place. At any rate, even if you are a real tone snob you can't help but enjoy the delicious flavours this thing puts out. The 16 effects settings plus the effects tweak knob are terrific as well. The effects tweak allows you total control over all the effects ranging from a tight compressor to a wide open flange. The super bright LED display is easy to read and the simple 1-10 style circular knobs allow for all kinds of tone adjustment.

The only thing I don't particularily like is the colour choice on the lettering around the outside of the unit that tell you where the inputs and line/midi outs are. In this case dark grey on dark red is pretty much invisible in any kind of lighting. As for seeing it in low light...forget about it,it aint going to happen.

The POD housing is very rugged. All metal,no plastic and super heavy. I haven't had occasion to kick or drop my POD yet, however, I'm sure it would be up to the test.

All in all this is a great product for anyone who loves great guitar tones but doesn't have the space,time,and or money to mess around with ten different amps and two milk crates full of effects. I haven't even touched on all of the other cool functions and features of this devise but trust me, they are well worth the cost of this unit. Easy to use,great tones, low price,funky packaging, and what more can I say. This one is easily a 6 out 5. Cheers.

UTILIZATION

- Great shape, but not easy stacking. It takes a little space when everything is connected (between a guitar, two outputs to sound card or amp, a headphones output, a one MIDI IN MIDI OUT): it looks like a big red spider pose on the desktop. The Pod Pro is more convenient to the ct but if you do not need sound numrique output or XLR Pod Pro, made more expensive.

I use the Pod to play on the PC. My sound card is out of the chain back on Hi-Fi and I dfie anyone DCEL the absence of guitar amp. Finally, a good electric guitar sound on PC! And besides, it's Stereo!

Why buy the Pod plutt one of its clones? For me it's the Internet community and its activity (or activism) that made the Difference: forums, libraries Sons offers, FAQ ...). So it's good especially if you have a computer.
On a fawn gnrale, the computer is more useful to use the Pod at best, even if use in stand alone is that by which we begin all, and when m I trs cool.

I use it (POD 2) for several months and I am really happy. I will redeem this thing without hesitation ... ... With the pedals of course. I am a little biased towards all things Line6 when it comes to effects units....not amps. I have used the POD live, POD rack mount, and the XT unit. There is a common operation that flows throughout the POD series that makes effect tweaking pretty smooth and effortlessly. Once I got the first POD unit which was the live rig I learned how Line 6 tailored their units. However, this unit flows more line there floor boxes such as the DL4 or FM4. The screen isn't going to be like regular PODs where it is mostly digital screen editing. You do have a solid screen but somewhat limited if you have use the POD Pro products. You will have to twist the knobs and look where you control is to know where your at. The new POD X3 conquers this issue and is more digital screen editing. Even though you have midi capability so if using with a Ground Control Pro or some other floor midi switcher you can set up your chain of effects and click your foot control for quick on the fly present changing.

The main difference in this one was that there wasn't a screen rather an electronic dial. They have since improved this version but the overall tone hasn't reallya changed. Everything as far as effects and models are manually shifted rather thn electronically on the screen.

UTILIZATION

The sound is great when it comes to the effects and modulation. The amps simulations are pretty terrible. If you are a natural amp distortion or even used to OD pedals then this is pretty pointless. That is the problem with digital amp simulators they never really match up the real thing. So you will be disappointed if you are looking for something to replace an amp or get a Rectifier sound with this unit going into your Fender Hot Rod.

Easy set up ready....just flip the controls and your up and running. The manuals from Line 6 are always helpful. They do a very god job in there instructions showing you how to get the best sound of the gear you are using it with. One of the best in this factor.

SOUND QUALITY


I was using this with a Strat and a Les Paul into a Marshall JCM2000 into a vintage Marshall 4x12 with blackbacks. The effects such as delays and choruses sound fantastic! This is where I lived with this unit. Did not even bother with the amp sims. The range of delays, flangers, choruses give you most everything you will use in a recording or live situation. If you rely on mostly effects with your guitar sound then I would recommend then stepping up to an X3 or the POD Live units.

OVERALL OPINION


The thing I enjoyed most about this unit was the cool delay and flanger sounds. This is a unit I would use sparingly when I needed to color my natural amp tone with some delays or flanger. I would never use this to get an amp sim or sound that I did not normally have.

The is a great intro to the POD family. They run about $1o0 in the classifieds and online give or take. For someone who does not use effects that much or someone who would like to get started in the effect tweaking arena who is on a budget I would highly recommend them to this product. You are going to get some great tones to add to your rig for well under what most companies charge for one stomp box.

I think Line 6 is one of the best if not the best companies out there who provide solid effect units for the all-in-one consumer who wants to keep things simple and clean. I would play this unit any day of the week. I don't use too much effects so something like this is perfect for me and it is perfect for home use!
