UTILIZATION

Everything is accessible and clearly marked on the chassis as the SansAmp GT2, all the same.
Here too: on paper, it's very good.

SOUND QUALITY

Using otherwise (pre) primary a SansAmp (Character Series British V2) amp, I know the extreme sound quality of Tech21 products both live sound, and via a Digital audio interface or a Poweramp + guitar cab.
This copy Palmer has absolutely nothing to do with New York products.
Dynamic zero, muffled and eaten without any shine, even with the treble at most - and in this case there is another concern: an unbearable breath.
3 modes, Clean / Crunch / Heavy: I feel we are in Heavy everywhere. Its impossible to have a (relatively) clear, apart from the Clean Tweed mode (supposedly Fender Tweed). Similarly for an overdrive or crunch was on the heavy distortion, especially on British (supposedly Marshall) and US (supposedly Mesa) modes. For example, the British fashion, Clean, drive zero fashion: it was already too saturated for any AC / DC.
Perhaps for the compressed ultra hi-gain with no dynamic that may be suitable, I do not know because this is not about my music, but for the rest, from clean to crunch through large clean the dirt or overdrive, it's totally wrong.

Yet I had no great expectations of this device: it was to work / play with headphones at night in the living room (my office / music room is adjacent to the bedroom). It just had to make the joke, but it was not made; I much prefried sound vacuum of my guitars!

I also tested via a PA and a sound card, it's the same.

I played it with my Pocket Amp Fender Stratocaster 1979 (single coil, low output) and with my CP Jaguar Special HH (passive humbuckers but high output, and split).

OVERALL OPINION

More than a year I have, using it for small periods, always disappointed but I insisted, tried, tested. Most was to help me in a PA when I could not move the amp head lamps - amp and more Palmer Pocket Amp replaced with no regrets by Tech21 SansAmp Character Series (via EHX 44magnum + cab or live sound) I therefore have no anti-fundamentalism transo nor pro-lamps snobbery. Certainly the Tech21 have no headphone or XLR output or Aux, but it sounds extremely well. It's not the same price either, but 70 euros is way too expensive for what still produces Palmer.
This Palmer has the external appearance of its settings in common with the SansAmp GT2 is even maliciously misleading ... The rest (essentially sound, dynamic) is just awful. LoFi, worthy of the worst transos without them clean. In a word, and keeping all sense of proportion: disgusting!

So I still nothing for my game night with headphones, but nothing is better than Palmer Pocket Amp.

OVERALL OPINION

Before I had a Vox amPlug, but that was before. For 20aine € more, you have opportunities galore. What pleases me most is this gold-plated XLR output. The sound is top!

UTILIZATION

There's a lot of opportunity with this pedal, I personally use it mainly as a preamp in the clear. Or to work at home with either headphones or repeat when I do not want to take the amp and I connect all on the table mix. Sometimes I also use the distortion on my amp to have a retro sound (Position Brit / Clean / OFFX) but only for fun at home.
Unfortunately a breath problem limited settings (see sound)

SOUND QUALITY

For me the black spot of the pedal (I fed with Alim CIOKS DC10 and a battery that is the same) is a blast too far, of course we manage to reduce but we should minimize the settings gain and treble, suddenly we are not necessarily the settings you want.
To play with headphones, the sound is passable, my pedals upstream stand badly luckily pedal has an input to, it allows bosser of breath but Backtracks ruins everything because you have to minimize acute and you lose a lot.
To play sound on it goes but it's not great either, at least compared to my tube amp.
To the sound of PC ... a sound card is much better.

OVERALL OPINION

I finished the test proper, the pedal produces too much breath and has a lot of bass and it is difficult to play with the treble. But for € 40 (Cygnus), it still allows a lot of things, certainly the quality is not great but the price puts into perspective.
So yes I will redeem this occas pedal if it is needed for all its possibilities but if you find a nice sound go your way.

Attention, there's not a pedal drive or DI, but actually is a minimalist analog preamp with a symmetrical XLR output. do not forget the relatively low price, headphone jack and with the average level of output, the symmetrical XLR output is excellent, this is how I use it.

UTILIZATION

Extremely simple configuration. easy edition of sounds, equalization is effective but does not allow you to color the sound too much. no need to book.
Overall it must still that three preset preamp you like the base (U.S., Brit or Tweed), and 3 modes (clean, crunch, distortion), little ability to sculpt the sound.
The emulated ogutput is the same as that of PDI09 (which I own), so better than my AMT SS11B and worse than my Pedaltone Koch.
Warning this is a preamp. So, even as the AMT and the Koch SS11B Pedaltone, once connected, it is active, so the switch (with red LED) only allows to engage the drive ...

SOUND QUALITY

Use for me in a home studio, the symmetrical XLR output in my sound card, good output level, no breath.
It was for me to find a stereo configuration independent preamp not too expensive to exploit some of my stereo effects with my guitars (Boss Dimension C, eventide space, zoom and other MS 100BT). So use exclusively in its clear and I have two amp pocket ...
The result is quite up to my expectations for this purpose, the clean sounds are quite successful, respond well to the attack, much more convincing to me than any numerical simulation or software. The fact of having two and work in stereo allows me to grow and spatialized sound like I want. The us has a right, a left tweed, or different EQing right and left ... It accepts pedals very well that I mentioned above, and also my pedals low drive (808 expandora, big muff, rat, TRex alberta ...), this is just to spend a little time to fully adjust levels.
To drive and crunch sounds and saturated the beast part, I am more measured, it is through my ears (hard to fight with the AMT and Koch), but I did not take to it.

OVERALL OPINION

Very good product, very well designed and cheap, excellent value for money. Used regularly for nearly two years. To try it even if you can whether proposed by the preamp grains you like and fit your use. Priviligier use with a balanced output.
I also possesses a SS11B AMT, a Koch Pedaltone and Palmer Eins.
What I like the most, the ability to have a good stereo preamp configuration for less than 150 € ... and I have two ...
PS: I wrote this review for the previous opinion perspective. It takes time to tame and understand the machine (especially management levels and symmetrical output). I was also disappointed at first, but now I could not do without.

UTILIZATION

Easy to use but it is very difficult to get an acceptable sound.
As a direct box you would think that it works well, but the beast saturates very quickly. the sound becomes filthy with a distortion pedal input. I tested with a Blackstar Ht dist, it worked better with the line output of this (planned to put a tuner, so no speaker simulation).
Interlocking the effects impossible to keep a clean sound "British" and "Us" in "Tweed" yes, but the sound is so low that it should add Drive, so its not clear if that!
The pots Treble and Bass do not allow a good EQ is very strange and difficult to describe, but there is such a lack of medium (no adjustment at this level) and an unpleasant surplus harmonics. I tested with an equalizer pedal, it helps but it is not that.

SOUND QUALITY

I bought it mainly to play with headphones, bad luck: bad contact at the mini-jack input, I triturated managed to find a balance and can test the pedal.
"Yuck!" After a few minutes my ears are tired and I almost headache.
I can not tell if the simulations are good for simulations (I'm used to real lights), what I can say is that we are far from having something nice.
And above all: its not clear. It is true that I tried with powerful microphones, but even splittant my doubles, lowering the volume of the guitar, it saturates. Conclusion: for clear sound: play empty!
And as saturations are far inferior to my pedals ...

Once purchased, immediately returned to the store against refund.
So: try before you buy!
Now I admit not having tested the competing devices in the same price range, so I can not judge the quality / price ratio, if it is only 75 euros for nothing, it's lost 75 euros (good I had bought on sale for 52.50 euros but still hurts).

The palmer gives me the most satisfaction.
I don 't write that rarely notice but I would like to share my discovery with all guitarists who want a serious solution to record PC without headaches.

The grain is very good clear sound and lets the guitar breathe.
The sound is dynamic and alive with the character sets of pedals Tech 21.

The crunch with lespaul are great! We really like playing on a real amp.
The sound is analog, realistic and warm.

With a stratocaster is downright excellent.
It adds a reverb or delay to give a little depth and the grain starting taking off.
The lead sound great and also the simulation Mesaboogie is successful.

Why was it so difficult to get this product before?
The sound is alive contrary to what is obtained with software or numerical simulations.
Change the position of the microphones is a real plus that fundamentally changes the sound.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 4 months and younger get enough.
To record live models I have not found better.
I would buy the same preamplifier at Palmer if he came out a more pro rack model.

But I am totally amazed of value for money and I regret having put money on that stuff after 3 months of use I like the POD and disappoint others.
Crunch and clean sounds are more difficult to obtain in general but with the pocket amp settings and comprehensive is easy.
I recommend this purchase to anyone looking for a credible and dynamic sound.
A great companion for my guitars.

There are XLR connectivity (ideal for plugging directly into a PA), an AUX output, headphone jack (small jack) and connection to the 9 volt adapter not included, I use my Korg adapter and it works well.

UTILIZATION

Relatively simple configuration, you can choose lots of different types of sounds without getting lost in the connector.
The manual only in German and English no idea what he's talking.

SOUND QUALITY

on the other hand I think the difference in sound (tested on my Epiphone Studio 15R amplifier) ​​are very good, except for the Tweed, which sounds quite low compared to other simulations, when the swicht DRIVE is engaged there is a little hard to breath level.
Tweed with more efficient I rate it higher.
The rest is excellent, you'd have a pedal with a lamp inside.
The guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul Limited Edition 100 US CustomShop with humbuckers.

I use it for one week.
I also play on a mini amp Danectro Honeytown which is cheaper and good quality in sound but it's not a pedal.

Mini portable amp Harley Benton GP 100 is not bad but not worth the Palmer.

The sounds are good, the pedal is very versatile.
