Line 6 POD
I am a little biased towards all things Line6 when it comes to effects units....not amps. I have used the POD live, POD rack mount, and the XT unit. There is a common operation that flows throughout the POD series that makes effect tweaking pretty smooth and effortlessly. Once I got the first POD unit which was the live rig I learned how Line 6 tailored their units. However, this unit flows more line there floor boxes such as the DL4 or FM4. The screen isn't going to be like regular PODs where it is mostly digital screen editing. You do have a solid screen but somewhat limited if you have use the POD Pro products. You will have to twist the knobs and look where you control is to know where your at. The new POD X3 conquers this issue and is more digital screen editing. Even though you have midi capability so if using with a Ground Control Pro or some other floor midi switcher you can set up your chain of effects and click your foot control for quick on the fly present changing.

The main difference in this one was that there wasn't a screen rather an electronic dial. They have since improved this version but the overall tone hasn't reallya changed. Everything as far as effects and models are manually shifted rather thn electronically on the screen.

UTILIZATION

The sound is great when it comes to the effects and modulation. The amps simulations are pretty terrible. If you are a natural amp distortion or even used to OD pedals then this is pretty pointless. That is the problem with digital amp simulators they never really match up the real thing. So you will be disappointed if you are looking for something to replace an amp or get a Rectifier sound with this unit going into your Fender Hot Rod.

Easy set up ready....just flip the controls and your up and running. The manuals from Line 6 are always helpful. They do a very god job in there instructions showing you how to get the best sound of the gear you are using it with. One of the best in this factor.

SOUND QUALITY

I was using this with a Strat and a Les Paul into a Marshall JCM2000 into a vintage Marshall 4x12 with blackbacks. The effects such as delays and choruses sound fantastic! This is where I lived with this unit. Did not even bother with the amp sims. The range of delays, flangers, choruses give you most everything you will use in a recording or live situation. If you rely on mostly effects with your guitar sound then I would recommend then stepping up to an X3 or the POD Live units.

OVERALL OPINION

The thing I enjoyed most about this unit was the cool delay and flanger sounds. This is a unit I would use sparingly when I needed to color my natural amp tone with some delays or flanger. I would never use this to get an amp sim or sound that I did not normally have.

The is a great intro to the POD family. They run about $1o0 in the classifieds and online give or take. For someone who does not use effects that much or someone who would like to get started in the effect tweaking arena who is on a budget I would highly recommend them to this product. You are going to get some great tones to add to your rig for well under what most companies charge for one stomp box.

I think Line 6 is one of the best if not the best companies out there who provide solid effect units for the all-in-one consumer who wants to keep things simple and clean. I would play this unit any day of the week. I don't use too much effects so something like this is perfect for me and it is perfect for home use!

themaddog's review"Opens up the POD for live use, but now outdated"

Line 6 POD
This is a comprehensive floorboard for the POD (and POD 2.0) that makes it possible to use the POD live. It has every option one could want from such a device, with the ability to change by bank, with each of the four patches within each bank. It has quick access to the tuner and the tap tempo. Line 6 was even generous with the type of cable that connects the floorboard to POD. It comes with a long CAT5/RJ-45 type cable, meaning you can substitute in your own longer cable if you wish. This is great, but because the guitar plugs into the POD and not the floorboard, this could lead to some very long cable lengths going back and forth, so it's probably more efficient to have the POD up front with the floorboard. Unfortunately, it can't be used with any of the new POD's.

UTILIZATION

This is very easy to use, I don't even think I had to crack open the manual. Just plug it in and you're ready to go. The POD provides the power, so the only connection for the floorboard is the above mentioned network cable.

SOUND QUALITY

I can't really comment on the sound quality of this, because it doesn't change the sound quality of the POD. Unfortunately, I have to give this option a rating, but if I could avoid giving it one I would.

OVERALL OPINION

When I had one of these it was great. I don't know if at the current price point it would be worth it to pick up a POD or POD 2.0 and this floorboard or a used POD XT Live. I now own a POD XT Live, but if I didn't have either, I probably would pick up the XT Live instead to avoid a large number of connections in and out of the POD and across the stage. As stated above, unfortunately it can't be connected with a POD XT or later POD, which limits it usefulness today.

Line 6 POD
The Line 6 POD is a portable amplifier simulator with all types of amp modeling capabilities and effects. This is made for guitar, but probably will work with whatever you would like to use it with. It is a digital unit with 1/4 inch inputs and outputs. It is not a rackable unit.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of this unit is really basic and easy to figure out. It won't take long to figure out what everything does and even though there is a lot that this can do, it is all easy to learn. There are general parameters for output level, drive, bass, middle, treble, channel volume, reverb and effect tweak. Then there are toggle knobs to choose different amp models and various effects. You can also make presets and use the presets they have made. The manual is pretty complete, but I never used it to much for this unit.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of this unit is my least favorite part about this. While I find a lot of the effects usable, since it is digital I find the distortions and some of the amp models to be too tinny sounding and not realistic enough for my taste. I have only used this with guitar, as that is what it is made for and thats what I play. I do really like some of the effects like the delay and reverbs, but overall I was disappointed with the overall sound quality from the Line 6 POD.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Line 6 POD for about three years. Maybe it was because this unit was hyped up to me, but I'm not a huge fan of this unit. I like that it is an all in one option for guitar amp modeling and effects, but a lot of the sounds are realistic enough for me, especially the overdrives and distortions. The price is quite cheap, which makes it a great option for the beginning guitar player looking to get into using effects and amp modeling, but for the professional, I have found that this is somewhat inadequate. If you want some amp modeling for recording, I would recommend getting some of the Line 6 Amp Farm software, and if you want this for preforming live, just use a real amplifier instead!

Line 6 POD
I bought the POD about 4 years ago at Sam Ash. I paid about 300 dollars for the unit at the time.

The sound quality and ease of use of the POD makes it the best cabinet simulator on the market. The presets are all great and allow for a true right out of the box use. The POD is also very flexable and allows the user to create thier own sounds. The optional software allows for connectivity to your PC. Allowing you to create your own unique sounds and transfer them back and forth from the POD to the PC.

Without the optional foot pedal attachment the POD is extremly difficult to use in live performances. The odd kidney bean shape sometimes makes it difficult to find a place to put it.

The POD is very well constructed and durable.

Best recording tool for and home studio to have. The over all quality of the unit would have to be rated a 4.5 out of 5.

I PICKED THIS UNIT UP TO HELP OUT WITH SOME SONGS I WANTED TO RECORD,I HADN'T PLAYED GUITAR TO ANY GREAT DEGREE FOR SOME YEARS BUT FOUND MYSELF KILLING HOURS AND BRAIN CELLS IN THE GARAGE TO THE POINT THAT I HEARD THOSE INEVITABLE WORDS "YOU LOVE THAT GADGET MORE THAN YOU LOVE ME".

I REALLY LIKE IT FOR RECORDING MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE THE RANGE OF TONES ARE F***ING AMAZING . I PLAN TO GET A FLOOR BOARD AND TRY IT OUT GIGGING

IT LOOKS LIKE S**T BUT SOUNDS LIKE ANGELS DROPPINGS

THE SOUND QUALITY IS SUPER IN THE STUDIO THE CONSTRUCTION IS STURDY ENOUGH BUT I'M NOT SO SURE ABOUT DRAGGING IT AROUND BARS AND CLUBS

THIS DEVICE IS A MAJOR TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH FOR ALL THOSE RUSTY OLD ROCKERS OUT THERE THAT STILL LIKE TO HEAR GOOD TONE BUT IN A WAY THAT DOESN'T PISS THE NEIGHBOURS OFF

Line 6 POD
Purchased at Long and Mquade/Ward Music North Vancouver BC Canada. I aquired the pod because I had just moved from a house into a small apartment. I knew I wouldn't have the room for all my gear plus I don't think playing with any sort of volume through your amp really endears you to your new neighbours. As far as cost goes, I bought the POD about a year ago and can't remember the exact price. It was aroun $475 CDN.

I like absolutely everything about the POD. Right out of the box this thing is just tons of fun. The 16 amp models all have a very distinct and tasteful sound. I doubt very much that it matters to the average person whether or not the "Tweed Blues" setting sounds exactly like a vintage fender '59 Bassman being that most people could never afford one in the first place. At any rate, even if you are a real tone snob you can't help but enjoy the delicious flavours this thing puts out. The 16 effects settings plus the effects tweak knob are terrific as well. The effects tweak allows you total control over all the effects ranging from a tight compressor to a wide open flange. The super bright LED display is easy to read and the simple 1-10 style circular knobs allow for all kinds of tone adjustment.

The only thing I don't particularily like is the colour choice on the lettering around the outside of the unit that tell you where the inputs and line/midi outs are. In this case dark grey on dark red is pretty much invisible in any kind of lighting. As for seeing it in low light...forget about it,it aint going to happen.

The POD housing is very rugged. All metal,no plastic and super heavy. I haven't had occasion to kick or drop my POD yet, however, I'm sure it would be up to the test.

All in all this is a great product for anyone who loves great guitar tones but doesn't have the space, time, and or money to mess around with ten different amps and two milk crates full of effects. I haven't even touched on all of the other cool functions and features of this devise but trust me, they are well worth the cost of this unit. Easy to use, great tones, low price, funky packaging, and what more can I say. This one is easily a 6 out 5. Cheers.

Line 6 POD
Amp simulator par excellence, often imitated but never ingnieurs the gal really does rev high and despite some rticences to beginners, an exhaustive testing was enough to convince me.
Edition of the software is not very intuitive but once matris it is really convenient.
The connection is because I complte branch symtrique output to attack a console numrique.
It is noted that the one I use is the Pod 2, just as its big + Full ERRF level simulations.

UTILIZATION

The "bean" in it is even easier to use, plus the manual that not only is screwed, is full of little jokes and other drleries when even more enjoyable than those of other manufacturers too "politically correct".

SOUND QUALITY

The simulations are hyper ralistes and effective, both in live recording on PC but you have to enjoy using it with a pdalier (or afternoon, or of the same manufacturer) as it was so full of ACCS rglages supplmentaires.
The sound is terrible, especially live sound system, do some dplaise ...
Some of the simulations (http://stephanelegout.free.fr/), in the "Bulk". Good cost.

OVERALL OPINION

I have used for 3 / 4 years to have replaced my rack-cabinet-pdalier I lugging heavy and make any comments has!
The report qualitprix is exceptional, because for the price of an amp low end / mid-range, we have all the existing amps!
TRS is a good choice for those who want sound everywhere, in all circumstances and transportable.

Line 6 POD
It's an amp simulator and a digital multi-effects editable via PC noon. He has a bean-shaped well-known super boring to place in a studio and very reassuring when you put on an amp.

UTILIZATION

The setup is simple when editing online.

PC edition editor is very well done and allows editing in depth, the first version I had was, unfortunately, somewhat buggy.

The printed manual is very clear.

SOUND QUALITY

In terms of amps: The names given are there to give an idea of the type of sound rather than to faithfully reproduce the sound of any amp, it really is far, far away, a faithful emulation, as m ' promised in the store.

In terms of effects: I enjoyed the ping-pong delay and leslie, the rest is better to have a good rack of pedals.

I used it with several guitars, bass and singing, and the finding was always the same: severe lack of dynamic exaggeration of the synthetic and low in distortion.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it in 1999, he left and I sold it with no regrets after six months to buy a J-Station.

I did everything to appreciate the Pod, with several amps to repeat, no amp in home studio, with different guitars, I have long said that I had something because of the wolf, though, the greatest use ( Line6 see site) is supposed to be awesome .. And no. While the sound is not inherently bad I've never liked either low volume (support / no top) or high volume (Atrocious).

The quality / price was pretty average at the time, now € 90 for OCCAZ's true we have a pretty cool tool for the price of a single pedal.

Given my experience I would wait six months and I bought the J-Station, where a tube preamp.

Actually I do not understand the success of this thing red, sold quite expensive, especially the version xt, reliable has a computer, I bought dokaz, gard two months and quickly resold.

UTILIZATION

The headphone, I find it good .. on a tube amp is a dsastre, (even by fiddling dedicates the release, which supposedly removes the simulated virtual amp + hp), and a large table 24 tracks spirit, 2x500 amp and speakers Tanoy is laughable!. 505 zoom the small of my son's 40th dokaz is more practitioner. this pod makes us sound "Hooligan" a garage transistors, especially saturated despite the many menus .. Try the preset jimi gypsum, or van Hallen 5150, you'll laugh.

SOUND QUALITY

I admit that the clean sounds are quiet and practitioner. (Except the chorus and some reverb) but when we bought this trick is to mimic a marshall or an old twin, a mesa, and not for play Souchon or Sinatra, right?

OVERALL OPINION

The must is the thick book and document supplied with beans.! has read it, you in the best amps, pedals vintage, lamp heads of the earth .. black and white photos is supported .. Well no, I am not a customer .. A confession: my old vamp 2, and even zoom 200 gm have the big sound .. I think the pod is ax game headphone, blues-folk-song. but in this case they should sell less cher.je have absolutely no grain found deficits amps on this thing .. to be honest with you, it was available at local to repeat a Marsall plexi, a twin reverb 79, a jcm 800 head, peavey classic and a great body .. 100 2 when comparing the pod has these amps, which is supposed to and reproduction, (according to the book) was the impression of playing on a "cash-converters replica" of branded ... Finally, it is my opinion and I share ... but I know that this thing has its followers, so much the better .. indeed, it sold very well!
