I write this first notice to correct an assertion "jctroyes" and "Arieti"

the NT3 is NOT hypercardio, but only cardio!

It is a condenser microphone with external power supply (not electret!) With a relatively large capsule: 3/4 ".

It is particularly suitable for plucked instruments like the guitar.

It supports phantom power and 48V Power 12.24, or a 9v battery. The battery is not used when the Phantom is available.

Its frequency response curve is given for particularly flat.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a few months, occasionally, according to my needs. especially in a simple configuration: acoustic guitar, or electro-acoustic + singing, rehearsal or live on a combo Fishman Loudbox Artist.

I love its roundness, its warmth, "smooth", and a good overall accuracy anyway.

I also like its versatility standpoint diet. I appreciate that its technology is not Electret! Build quality gives confidence (a big "block" metal). Its capsule is large enough that playing on the sound definition.

I regret a little "bundle", (too) classic compared to some competition, yet cheaper. I would like to see provided support anti-shock (sold separately at € 39.00!) = SM4).

Otherwise, the price is more than adequate given its quality and versatility!

In fact, I'm considering buying a second ... to the pair for various uses that do not necessarily match elements which require perfect stereo.

The Rode NT3 is a condenser instrument mic that’s pretty thin and stylish. It also comes in a nice little pouch so it doesn’t get dinged up. We had this mic over the timbalas in our studio for about a year before we switched our set up . We still have the mic just not the timbalas, we were going to try this on the drums but we just never got around to switching the mics out.


OVERALL OPINION

The Rode NT3 provides ultra low noise, and I say ultra I mean very low noise. If you have it all wired up right and in a good stand with a shock mount system you will have excellent results with the NT3 studio / location mic. I have known a lot of people to use this mic regularly and not a single person has complained about the quality of this mic. From major studio’s to home ones, this mic will serve its purpose plus more!

The Rode NT3 is a little more expensive then some other instrument mics on the market but the quality is a few steps up once you get into this price range for an instrument mic. So you will get what you pay for. I don’t suggest buying this mic used though, because just through word of mouth a few people told me they have bought it used and it didn’t sound as good as it does new. Not too sure if the mic condenser gets messed up over time or after it gets a lot of use to it.

Overall, I love the quality of this mic, it sounds great and will do more than just get the job done. Most mics in this price range cant compete with this one. Its well worth every penny spent. I have heard it in different environments and on different instruments and it does the job great EVERY time. Try it

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for three years in home studio, no pb.
It is a static micro scne, it is less sensitive than a studio microphone (in view of its directivity but more "subtle" a dynamic mic. Basically, you can direct it to a source without forcment hear the honking in the street! For me it's a big advantage over the NT1, for example. trs It captures the voice and acoustic guitar. possdes If you are a well insulated Something else you will earn srement in quality ... but if like me, record yourself in an apartment is "the" micro adapted to its directivity its price and its brand of the same that not ashamed to face his rivals.

OVERALL OPINION

I used the NT 3 for a year to catch all kinds in my old home studio as a singer and I had had that type SM58 dynamic mics ...
To put it short, I was bleuffé surtou its overall quality when you see the price.
I compared with an SM 57 (dynamic you say?) Which costs € 120 against € 180 for NT3 which is static. Given the small margin of price between these two very different products, however, I recommend to anyone wanting to have one or two microphones of all trades for less than € 200, to get one that will easily find its place in your suitcase and this in multiple configurations.

The 9V battery is a + for the rare time when you have no power supply fantme hand. Or it is down this path ... or so it's a power supply and gnrale sondier not want to drive because there are things "not made to" on other channels.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had three years.

I like the sensitivity trs correct, many precision (is any), regardless of breath, easy fix since it is a "tube" and not a "pendulum". I have not tried to speak but I recorded with a blackbird and trs is good (!). All acoustic guitars have our latest CD made with the t NT3.

But I do rponse its off-axis, aggressive and mdiums dsagrables who do not forgive any investment cart, and I find his rponse "by far" aggressive particulirement . It's probably a few li rverbrations pice of my participating this.

I have other models (NT1 trs well for voice, ATM-33, MK012 ...).

The report qualitprix is ​​good, even when the microphone is good and trs trs well finished.

I think I prfre the MK012 for acoustic ...

I used it mainly hypercardioid condenser microphone for recording live classical music and opera. I used this mic for three years and I always recorded distance of 2 to 4 m voice and acoustic instruments like violin, viola and flute, pipe organ and piano always with fairly satisfactory results.

OVERALL OPINION

I have experienced so far the AKG C1000S, the CAD M177 and versatile performance, the NT3, the Behringer B2 Pro and MXL v67g the latter being more effective for voice.

For - serious intensity even at a distance exceeding 3m. In making her a little extra distance is a well-rounded sound and whose sudden changes in intensity are amortized flexibility. A lot of presence and gain.

Cons - A treble often aggressive short especially for a large voice. The positioning of the microphone is sensitive because it détimbre easily. It lacks sharpness and filter for the voice. The NT3 is quite colorful as its positioning. It is less flexible, less transparent and the opposite of the AKG C1000 is more balanced.

In summary:

A microphone for sound recording background vocals for distance and near for some live acoustic instruments like guitar and violin, but less suitable for solo voice.

trs relatively prcis, the precision in the bass is limited but the rest of the spectrum is warm and enjoyable trs on string instruments (guitars lutes violins.)
Have you tried many other models before acqurir?

I tried a bit of prestige while The models found in the large studio (C414, solid tube, U87, U67 ..........)

How do you report qualitprix? With the exprience, you do again this choice? * ...

Cheap and have in all studios or on stage

The NT-3 is Rode's "budget" small diaphragm condenser mic. This is definitely one of the nicer mics in this price range. The mic capsule is actually a little bigger than most other small diaphragm condensers, so you'll notice that you tend to get a little more body on your sources than with most other pencil mics, which can tend to sound a little shrill when you compare the recording to how the source sounds to your ears live. One really neat thing about this mic is that it is self-powered. If you are in a situation where you don't have access to phantom power, you won't be out of luck, since this mic can be battery powered as well. The pickup pattern is a standard cardioid, and it is not switchable. You don't get a pad or bass roll-off with this mic, so make sure that you're set up correctly when using it. The sound on this mic is pretty good, although I do sometimes notice a hyping of the mids at around 1k. You don't usually hear that in condenser mics, but I'm certain it's there. Other than that one spot around the mids, the sound of this mic is very balanced and clear. You may just want to dip an EQ cut in that one spot if it pokes out at you.

OVERALL OPINION

I have an NT3, and though I don't often use it due to owning a large number of other small diaphragm mics, this mic definitely has its place in my studio. I really love this mic on hand percussion. For some reason, it really adds something to tambourines, shakers, and other percussion instruments. It seems like a barely have to EQ them to get them to sit right when I use this mic on them. Overall this is a nice small diaphragm condenser, and a fair value. I would recommend it, but no need to go running to the store immediately for this mic.
