stompboxjon's review"MBox 2 gave me issues"

Digidesign Mbox 2 Factory
The Digidesign Mbox 2 is an interface that I had my eye on for quite a while after the original Mbox was a great buy for me. So I just right in and purchased it, one of the things that I liked about it a lot was the handle that it has on it, made it easy for carrying. But then I felt the knobs on the front of the unit and they art very cheap felling. They are plastic and didn’t feel as well built as the rest of the unit. If you purchase the Mbox 2 in a bundle you will get all the goods including iLok and a ton of good plug ins to use like Maxim and moogerfooger.

Latency was very minimal but the drivers gave me huge issues. I was installing drivers left and right trying to get this thing to work, and these were not updates they are the drivers that came with it. It was really a pain on my laptop I was running Windows Vista, after numerous attempts I finally just called the tech support for Digidesign and had them walk me through it. It still took a couple tries with them.

I had a lot of compatibility issues with Mbox 2 , it was crazy because Mbox 1 was so easy to install and actually I still own the original Mbox I just don’t use it anymore. I have traded in the Mbox 2 about 4 months after owning it because it was so much of a hassle to use it. I really wanted it to work but I didn’t want to deal with the driver issue. After spending aver 7 hundred dollars on a bundle I was really frustrated with the Mbox 2.

The Driver issues where a deal breaker for me and that’s the reason that I don’t recommend using it if you have a windows computer. If you are on a Mac then it will probably work better from what I heard, but I would choose the original Mbox over the Mbox 2 any day!

Hatsubai's review"Decent entry level pre"

Digidesign Mbox 2 Factory
The Mbox 2 is probably the most popular pre that Digidesign has offered throughout the years. This model is meant for the beginning recording artist due to its price point and features. The preamp features 4 inputs, 2 outputs, MIDI, USB, phantom power, S/PDIF and a few other things tucked up its sleeve. One of the biggest things this one comes with is Pro Tools LE.

Dididesign did a decent job with this preamp. On the plus sides, everything is contained in a nice, small box. There are no breakout cables for certain connections like other preamps on the market. That means mininal wiring mess and less overall strain on the ports. The device is also very easy to set up, so no issues there. On the down side, it has USB. I'm not a fan of USB preamps due to latency issues once you start adding plugins in the DAW. You'll constantly be adjusting the buffer size or just recording without any serious plugins on the buss.

The device is very easy to use. Simply plug in the components into their corresponding ports, install Pro Tools LE and you're good to go. Pro Tools LE might be a bit daunting at first for those who have never used a professional DAW before, but there are some nice quick start guides that'll help you throughout the process. There shouldn't be any compatibility issues out there with this device as it works on both PCs and Macs.

I generally don't recommend this pre as much as others simply because it has USB 2.0. The pre itself sounds decent for the price, but there's still some congestion going on, and if you can afford a nicer preamp with firewire, I'd check that one out instead. However, if you're working on a limited budget and can only use USB devices, this isn't too terrible to use.

Digidesign Mbox 2 Factory
First of all I want prciser I have not worked with other hardware of the same type so I can compare. In addition, some techniques are Chinese dtails for me, I just use the hardware and do a good sound.

I opt for the choice of the M-Box 02 (Factory) for several reasons:

- A friend who works for a Socit recognized in the field of Digidesign's assured me that a silent REFERENCE recognized worldwide and more than (quality) and that I would have no problem my technique and the use is fairly intuitive. I do not know me enough in the studio complex installations and j'tais anxious not to lose my money for beginners.
- The M-box02 had just come out and critics taient rather favorable.
- The most challenging is that Pro Tools (version6.8.1) is naturally provided (normal since both the product Digidesign hardware and software) and any one program SERIES rput (such queReason3, Amplitube, adapted for digidesign Live4 ...) And one more plugin SERIES .... Everything must go like clockwork.

I play alone most of the time, mostly guitar, percussion and synthtiseur. The rest is done on the computer. So I had something fairly simple for the home and not enrengistrer a live band. It is very practical, especially for those traveling. Enrengistrer the Ides when they come, just a laptop and the mbox and the turn is played.

The technical part of the m-box is explained very clearly on the manufacturer's website
www.digidesign.com (http://www.digidesign.com)

My Matos:
Mount a PC with Windows XP, motherboard MSI 1000 RAM, 180Gig of memory ...

In short, even before the purchase to make, I saw that the bnfique.

So it all starts ... the

The MBox02 is compatible with both Windows and Mac, but I recommend (I am often say) to use Mac instead if you want simplicity.
Parcontre on a PC, you will all do a SERIES of change in Systm and blah blah blah .. In short if you know well, there should not be a problem since I'm still same happens (After a few ptags lead, I wanted to go too fast).

All instructions are explained in the manual (English) and if you follow the steps the letter IS NOT PROBLEM. But above all you ask on the Digidesign website for compatibility with your machine .. mbox

I have some problem with some programs from other manufacturers comes with ... these are versions that rev limit (see EXAGRES or versions that do not even walk (jute a publicity stunt) !

With the M-Box, I use up Submitted as pro tools and Reason simultaneously ... There is still some use that I have not yet been tested, it is too complex Retailer.

was over 6 months now and it's a pleasure to have rel his home studio. Nanmoins I regret not having invested in a mac, my pc DCON another time when I pushed a little too much.
I find that the system is very well pens and intuitive and simple, it may need to see the other machines to say more.
