Behringer Xenyx 502

Most of Behringer’s mixers are up and down with me, as well with all of the gear they make. Sometimes it is of great quality and some times its not. This Xenyx 502 is one of those units that is on that border line between good and not so good. It is a 3 channel mixer with a preamp. It has 2 stereo channels and CD outs.
This unit is very small, but more importantly it is affordable for almost any budget. It only cost 45.00 dollars and it is one of the smallest mixers that I have ever used or seen in person. It has a 2 band EQ and Rotary level controls. The Xenyx 502 has some good features and for the price you really don’t have anything to lose. The issue is , the quality of how its built could be better, but for this price there is no way could really expect more. This unit is really light and plastic like. If it gets hit hard enough or dropped I wouldn’t be surprised if all the knobs broke off.


UTILIZATION

The Xenyx 502 does have phantom power, but no effects and it can not connect to your computer via USB. So it is more of like a cheap old school mixer without computer connectivity. With no channel inserts, no talkback and no direct outputs it sounds like this mixer would not be good for anything. But it is good for small analog projects.


SOUNDS

Bottom line is , don’t get this mixer if you need on board effects or more than a 3 band EQ. But if you need something really cheap and simple then this could be a great first mixer to have. I don’t see anyone using this mixer for more than 8 months to a year, without it breaking or the person “growing” out of it.


OVERALL OPINION

The Xenyx 502 is a quiet little unit, but don’t plan on using it long. I just don’t think it can hold up. Great for a beginner or someone who needs a mixer and doesn’t have money to get a good one. You will eventually need to get a different one though.

UTILIZATION

It is very easy to use given the limited functions.
The manual is clear and is common to the whole series XENYX.

SOUNDS

As we listen not strong and that we not use the preamp it will still ... on the other hand, the sound crashes as soon as you turn up the volume and blast appears instantly! In short it is rotten but considering the price it's already amazing ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a few days to troubleshoot the mixing of some synths ... Well I'll separate myself soon! More than the power connector is really crappy, the console may turn off when moved ...
Good 7 entries in so little space and the price is not bad. But the sound is c *** r!

In the 5-channel spars are as follows:
-1 Between Jack or XLR (channel 1)
-2 Between Jack (Channel 2 / 3)
-2 Between Jack (Channel 4 / 5)

THE FIRST is among the most used and most complte. it contains:
The high-quality pramp XENYX (TRIM adjustable)
-The equalizer type "Columbia" (Rglage 'low' and 'high' on 2 pots)
-Balance
-The main volume.
The other 2 entries contain only the volume and balance.

Obviously no effect for this console trs attractive price base.

OUT connector:
-Headphone Jack with volume knob assignbr />-RCA Output
Input-RCA (dvier possibility of the channel or on the Input Mix, either on the headphone, according trs useful)
-Master Volume 'Main Mix' seen with 4-LED mono nitre

Power supply.

UTILIZATION

Gnrale configuration could not be more simple, no installation problem.
The small size is trs apprcie because it offers a great practical advantage.
The great quality for the price is also apprcie trs. It is robust and reliable.
The few basic functions are intuitive.
The manual? I did not read. No need ...

SOUNDS

The sound is good trs, rich and clear.
Console ULN Ultra Low Noise, no noise problem, but do not push the volume much ^ ^ sr
the equalizer does not find useful my eyes I prfre than Cubase.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it this morning and I'm glad trs. I use the PC for my recordings and it's really great.
The big plus: Price, quality size.
The least: it would prfr 2 XLR inputs instead of 4 + 1 XLR stereo jack, and the console tends heat. In addition, no on / off switch.
This is my analog console Premire worthless compare those views France Musique 64 tracks but is ideal for use in semi-professional studio.
The report quality price (49) is excellent: the components are of high quality and robust construction parat. See you in 5 years ...
If I had to buy a console more, I will turn to the range XENYX no problem, unless I really need expensive hardware and trs Advanced. I am not often satisfied, I have almost nothing to say about this console.

1 XLR + jack with preamp so
2 lines separate stereo jack.
Main Out L / R headphone jack more (the only stereo jack of the table).

- The parametric equalizer is it?
No.

- The effects section is it integrated? ...
Either.

Very small mixer, practical, not very strong at the knobs, however, or so, 7 / 10.

UTILIZATION

- The general configuration is it simple?
Easier, there's not.

- The usual functions are they easily accessible?
well, it's a bit cramped, but we cope as we can.

- The manual is clear and sufficient? ...
Behringer what "this button does this" point, must be said that is enough.

7 / 10 for the narrowness. (Would there were more space through the same knobs on a table of this size I think ...)

SOUNDS

- The console is transparent?
Online, yeah not bad, I would not say transparent but ... I'm surprised, possessing a XENYX 802, I find her older sister more colors.
To be honest, I used this mixer to manage the sound of my sound card to my Yamaha HS50M.
Good on the other hand with the first tranche is a preamp and Equal forget ^ ^.

Yes, many of the first tranche, the rest is more or less clean.

Can we really judge an equalizer on which we can not control the medium? ...

Clear: within reason, Yeah, do not compare to the stuff on its quality.
Noisy: it is not annoying, they are only signs, not the great bell ...
Equal ... a zapper.

It all depends on the use: To a microphone, and lines on it, certainly not, but for my current use (mixer to manage my monitor speakers) .. yeah.
